  1. I figure if I can remember it, then it's significant in one way or another. However, I too need the visual prompt to remember them all.
  2. G28- I respect your effort to preserve our annonymity (or maybe you've forgotten us already), but let's not forget the Midlands Geoholics who attend monthly Geoholics Annonymous meetings. Our casual appearance of disorganization is cleverly-crafted to keep us in obscurity and off the radar screen.
  3. I've got one ready, once the South Carolina cache is up and running.
  4. South Carolina should be up and running within a couple weeks. Site has been selected; cache supplies ordered. Speaking to the PTB this weekend.
  5. Check your math. It's better than you thought. $65,000,000 / 31,676 is about $2000 each. Jamie Oh, yeah........I'm in!!!
  6. I heard today that Chimney Rock Park in NC is up for sale. What an opportunity to establish the first National GeoPark! The asking price is only $65 Million. If the 31,676 account holders who posted in the last 7 days each chip in, that's only a little over $20k each!
  7. Good Job!! It makes me want to travel great distances to get to the Event (and I live within 10 miles). So how far is Heaven? If you're attending this event, how far will you travel? SF-Llatnek
  8. I just got this email from the State Park Reservation System: Take the FAMILY Camping! $10 Campsites at Lake Wateree State Recreation Area, Winnsboro, SC From NOW until June 30, 2006 Sunday through Thursday Nights Just email me for the link if you want to take them up on it. Semper Fidelis, Llatnek.
  9. Well, of course the only two caches I've found in Texas!! "You Will Not Be Forgotten" and "Riverwalk Cache" (XT morf yobdab a ekil kniht ot gniyrt)
  10. I think I heard about it first from Kim Komando (Digital Goddess), either from her radio show or one of her newsletters.
  11. I don't have the coords. It's been several years since I was last there, but the trail is (technically) wheelchair and stroller accessible, paved most if not all the way. However, there is limited parking available at the trailhead. So if you are going on a weekend (particularly Memorial Day weekend) you might want to get to this one EARLY in the morning. Happy Trails and Semper Fidelis, Llatnek.
  12. I lost the battle with the "imaginary girlfriend." We got a Cingular family plan because her "imaginary daughter's" friends have that service. "EVERYBODY has Cingular" <---(supply your own imaginary teenager voice here) SF, Llatnek
  13. She says for safety, and I can agree with that. I must admit that the checking-up part occured to me too. It would also make it easier to see just how much caching time I have left on a particular day. I might be able to take the long way home. PLB = Personal Life Bodyguard ???
  14. Just wondering which carrier service gets the best coverage throughout South Carolina. My girlfriend wants me to take a cell phone when caching, but it wouldn't be much good if I can't get reception throughout the entire state. Any tips or stories out there?
  15. Ditto on the Rendevouz. I lived downtown for a year back in the nineties (pre-caching), and never had a visitor disappointed by the Rendevouz. I don't know if they still have "Memphis in May", but it was an International BBQ cookoff down by the River. Well-worth checking out if they still have it, and you're there in May.
  16. I was in Cub Scouts, becoming one of the first Webelos in the country. When it came time to rise to Boy Scout, I chose not to. I wanted to camp, our local troop wanted to do service projects. Now with GeoCaching & Cito, I can combine both.
  17. Fifty-Fifty for me at this point, but I would really like to attend. (I still have some bluey's hanging on my map of the Aiken area.)
  18. I got one FTF (50 miles from home) after it had been posted for three weeks. A geocaching friend had pointed it out to me as not being found yet and having a TB. I got to it, but forgot to bring a bug to trade. Not a difficult cache, but the best part was that it took me to a State Park that I would never have visited were it not for geocaching. I'll bet the cache owner was wondering if anyone would ever go for it.
  19. This is Annie, a retired South Carolina Law Enforcement Division Tracker. In her prime, she was the Top Dog with over 300 confirmed captures/rescues. She's not too interested in caching at 13 1/2 years old with arthritis. She mostly just sleeps now, living out a well-earned retirement. The top of her head and her feet are now gray (since the picture was taken a year ago). Annie the Retired SLED Agent
  20. When asked whether I would attend a geocacheaholic lunch meeting, I replied: A true cacheaholic would take the first step by admitting he/she has a problem. Since I don't have a problem, I'm not a cacheaholic. Since I'm not a cacheaholic, I don't need to attend meetings. Since I don't need to attend meetings, I won't be there with you guys on Monday. Since I won't be there with you guys on Monday, I'll just go to work as normal (unless I blow off work to go cacheing). hmmm, wait a minute.........
  21. Checking in, but not much to say. Wish I had found GeoCaching when I was on a one year sabbatical. 'Course I would probably be homeless by now. Semper Fidelis, Llatnek Ballentine, SC 29002
