  1. Meth is an unfortunately common occurance in rural Southern Indiana. I've heard that a commonplace 'mobile' cure/cook lab is a hard plastic igloo type cooler set out in the middle of the countryside. Definitely need to be careful if you encounter such containers. If something looks out of ordinary, you should contact local law enforcement. At least they don't use ammo-boxes!
  2. It seems the coordinates I originally posted were a bit off. These should be closer: The Cache location on the locomotive: N 38°11.659, W 87°19.024 Original location of locomotive prior to moving: N 38°10.798, W 87°18.998
  3. Could be, or a puzzle. But if it were, it had better be an extremely difficult one! Didn't the OP say 3 of the 4 finders were accidental? 2 of the finders on the [incorrect] cache claimed to be accidental. The other one on the 10/1 is a relative of the museum's curator, and had heard about it through him. The first finder of the log on 9/7 I was unable to locate a corresponding username to the name written on the log.
  4. I even own a Garmin vehicle GPS and didn't even know about the Garmin one! Thanks for looking into the other sites, Mr. Yuck! I will contact the local reviewer to get his input. Here is the restored locomotive, for any that are interested: RJR
  5. Thanks for the good comments and suggestions. On Oct 1 when I found the museum cache I also physically found the cache for "Mr. Peabody's Coal Shovel" which I had linked to in the proper GZ location. I didn't even know there were sites other than GeoCaching.com
  6. 38.18002,-87.317104 Still no caches around that area, and it's definitely within the property of the old coal mine. There was no geocache (or otherwise) indication inside the cache, just a roll of paper.
  7. Hi all, Not sure what to do about this one. I'm one of the Directors of a Coal Museum in southern Indiana. We received an old locomotive as a donation that was moved to the museum at the end of June. When the painters started working on sandblasting to restore it in September, they found a film canister micro geocache on it. It was a surprise as no one had asked the Museum for permission to place the cache there, but we have no problems with it. I took a look at the cache at the beginning of this month and signed it. When I went online to log it, I could not find a listing for the cache. The cache phyiscal location is approx 38.194363,-87.317147 near Lynnville, IN. There was no identification inside the cache and the date at the top of the log was 7/12/11, so it was obviously placed after the move. Only 4 log entries were there, and 3 of them seem to have been incorrectly logged on this cache, which is miles away from the museum - http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GC1P2QR See the 2 entries for 9/24 and kele4458's entry for 10/1. There are no caches within 8 miles of Lynnville that were published anywhere near July of this year. How long does it usually take a cache to be published after submitting? Certainly not 5 months... Could the owner have forgotten to actually submit it? Can I submit it online and claim ownership and maintenance of the cache? Thanks for any advice, RJR
