  1. Some of the Spanish (paper) maps use longitude, with Barclelona as the start point, and not Greenwich, which makes it interesting trying to work out where you are on the map from GPS co-ordinates. Also, some (if not most) Spanish walking maps are very inaccurate. I think the best I have used (in the Picos area) were based on military maps. I have not yet had any experience of the Spanish or French Topo maps for the Garmin. Ivan
  2. You can download a manual from the Garmin website. They are located under support / user manuals. I keep a copy on my laptop, as well as my pda. Ivan
  3. Every Garmin gps I have owned (over 12 years) records track data, regardless of satelite signal. When I switch the unit on, it records the last known position. When it receives satellite data, it then creates a new track. At least it is easy enough to delete the extra tracks in Mapsource, although it is annoying that I should have to do that. Ivan
  4. The basemaps are built into the unit and can not be deleted. Purchasing EU maps such as Metroguide will provide street level mapping, and can be installed onto a microSD card. The newer units seem to come with 128Mb cards, which should fit the UK maps. Reading these forums, it seems it is possible to convert / create maps which could be loaded into mapsource, but modifications to the registry are required. I have installed UK Topo on my 60csx. Although it is not as good as OS maps, it least it shows the contours, and some roads. At least I have OS maps on my pda if required, as well as the cache data loaded into cachemate. I looked at buying a 60csx from the states, but the postage and duty can be a killer. I managed to find an EU model on Ebay, and the slight premium was worth paying since I will be covered by Garmins UK warrenty, although based on 12 years of Garmin ownership, I should not need it. If you are visiting the USA, then you can save more money, if you are prepared to wait til your next visit. In the short term, if you have a pda with a gps (built in or bluetooth), then I suggest downloading and installing cachemate. The demo version is limited to 10 caches loaded at any time, but you have to 'navigate' to screen which will take you the cache. I have used it when I didn't have my Garmin with me. If you are a premium member and download the gpx data files, then you will also have the cache data for paperless caching. The full version of the software was £5.04 when I registered ($8 + tax). 5. Perhaps you have a spamfilter at work which is blocking certain emails. I know the spam filter (Policy Patrol) I monitor at work will catch genuine emails, mostly due to the senders name and the actual email account used differ. Ivan
  6. The UK might be a small country, but we can get a lot into a small area Mud, Rocks, Water, Woodlands, greenlanes etc.
  7. Another UK member. My Jeep is a 2001 TJ, with 4.5" suspension lift and 1" body lift. 33" mud tyres, jks quick disconnects, winch, arb lockers front and rear, half top and waffle boards. I enjoy taking it off road, and I am a member of several UK Jeep clubs. Mods and accesories can be difficult to source in the UK, but it is cost effective to import from the USA, especially with the current exchange rate. Ivan My Jeep Some recent offroading photos
