  1. When I was in college I was a bit extrememly obsessive in my recycling habits. If i saw someone throw a recyclable in a trash can, i dove to get it (literally). Now that we are caching I trash out on my walks and in public. In fact I trash out more than i find caches for sure. Plus i use a lot of reusable items (cloth grocery sacks) and fill a large city issued home recycling container weekly (okay sometimes i could fill 2 or 3 a week) but I am under the mispercetion that WE all have the responsibility to clean up after ourselves. I must have been raised wrong or something. I plan to go get a ton of 35mm film cannisters (we only use digital !!!) to put bags in and put them in caches. Anything we can do to make the places we cache better. Putting a cache in a park is basically guaranteeing it will be cleaned up. Beth half of the Destrees of Texas
  2. In geocaching, our goal is to find the cache of course but even more important in my mind is to leave the cache site better and cleaner than when i found it. I usually fill at least one plastic grocery sack full at most caches we find. Some we could use a trash truck but at least my bags are a start. We keep all plastic bags in our pack and dump the trash trash in the trash and recycle the recyclables... okay i am a bit extremely obsessive about it at times but it makes the world a better place.
  3. Speaking of ways to get rid of needels. I am a psychiatric social worker so not a nurse or whatever would be more helpful but you can get "sharps" containers. I work in the medical setting and if you ask for them (allergy shots and diabetic needles are good examples of when you would want to have these) you can probably get them from a medical supply company OR from a medical professional. A lab tech that visits our center gave my coworker one to dispose of her hormone shots in. Just an idea... the containers are red with biohazzard labels and you can take it back to where you got it (from the professional or a medical supply/waste company). Beth half of Destrees of Texas
