  1. Yes. You get to try it out with a small number of caches at no charge. Beyond that it will cost you a massive $8. Are you looking to buy at smittyware.com (that's the Cachemate home page)? I see no pitch for anything other than $8. I bought it at that price a long time ago and have not paid a dime more since. Excellent value as far as I am concerned. hmm, alright I saw that and wasn't sure if there was a way around it. I installed the free version (unregistered) of cachemate and it really does not do what I heard cachemate is supposed to do. I've been using Cachemate for almost three years. It does everything I need for caching. It has a screen for the Cache Details, another for the Past Logs, a screen for logging your experience, and another for the Hint. Eight dollars is a paltry sum for what that wonderful little program does. What else do you want Cachemate to do . . . . ? I mentioned earlier I did not BUY cachemate, I downloaded the free unregistered version. It won't allow me to add more than 10 caches to the database, doesn't have the hints, logs, or cache owner description. I try to save what I can and might be getting the program tonight. Thanks all for the help.

  3. not sure if you guys answered this question or not, but do I need to pay for cachemate in order for it to work with uploading say 500 caches/info. The unregistered version I have now only uploads 10 in a database and I don't see any of the caches details or information including the hints. That website wants me to register with one of their advertisers and buy something of theirs.. I think this is a waste of time. Is there away around spending more cache? I mean.. cash?

  5. Hello folks! If you are reading this and you are a geo gian(GEORGIAN!!) you are in the right place. I started this thread to get acquainted with my home state's very own geocachers. I would love to meet you (im sure I have past a few of you stealthy cachers on my hikes and jogs and never even knew it!)I also would like to know about the groups (tiny and large) that are out there! If you belong to one or you are just a lone wolf with a gps like me... ( that kidnaps friends and family members to tag along on the hunt with) post a reply and write some personal experiences and future ones to expect! Feel free to email me at alexander86l@yahoo.com
  6. S&W gold shield issue with a clip I usually have on my waist band while hiking or jogging. The Jaguar was from a friend and so it was free ( I like the yin yang sign) and great grip- some kind of heavy rubber. Finally the $15 winchester I picked up from wal-mart while getting some equipment. I like it for it is a fixed blade and attachable to belt or leg with sheath. I don't have but would like chris reeves moutaineers.

  8. Hello Geocachers! I don't know if ive been lurking or not. I mainly use forums of any sort to find answers. Have not had many questions... though I am pretty new at geocaching and am enjoying it! I just hope people would make sure their caches aren't missing so I am not stuck out there searching for nothing! heh heh. Im sorry to hear there is ugliness in the community! But thats what happens with modernized jaded people I guess and will try not to hold it against em. HEck I know I can be a complete Bit## sometimes just because of the negativity that can get carried around. People might just be taking advantage of the anonymity the internet medium gives to vent excess stress and anger. What ever the reason, it is unnecessary and thanks for pointing it out. Hope everyone enjoyed their new years! Peace and love!
  9. The Vista HCX can be had for just a little more than your budget and has the expandable memory, geocaching mode, color display and sensitive receiver. Here is a recent thread on a sale at REI. Alright then! I'll definitely check that one out! Thank you.
  10. Hello everyone, I am wondering... in the detail report for the 76s it says it does not have a geocach mode and cannot enter new points of interest, so will this prevent me from good geocaching? I am mainly wondering if this is the best fit for me. I would like a barometer included, hopefully under 10 m accuracy, preloaded(preferably) maps over continents, and the ability to upload geocach points and topographic maps... pricing to be around 200 bux. I want to use the GPS unit for hiking, kayaking, mountain climbing, and in other countries. So hope thats informative enough. Thanks!
