  3. Find big stamp on micro.Write over big stamp on micro I try and use the one line provided,I dont need to date it as i can do that from my armchair
  4. Hi Nunu and welcome Just a thought............While doing DofE it would be a good idea to take the Etrex with you, It would come in very handy in the event of thick fog/snow/other problem ,if you needed to contact the emergency services, You could say where you are too the nearest 15ft , How useful is that !! AND there are then the sneaky caches to be found on route All the best Andy
  5. I like to mention Caching in passing and see if the person picks up on it!! Luckily i can rattle on about real ale which is not sad in any way!! Who cares what they think(Well you do obviously as you asked the question!!) They may have several hobbies that they rattle on about that you find mind numbing so whos to say whos normal?? If your friends dont agree with you get new friends Andy
  6. Sorry !! i went back and read the cache page again and found all the info there!!! The Old windmill is in the Good beer guide and lists the pub as the oldest inn in Cov. Other publications are available http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...ec-4ee780d2439b (GC1KF84)
  7. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...ec-4ee780d2439b (GC1KF84) Will there be real ale at the pub?? Its not important It just decides if I go or not!! Cheers Andy
  8. I have read through the posts and for some reason I twigged that last weekend I contacted a CO after finding a "mark" on a logless cache and asking if I could still log!! I got the reply that it was the done thing!! So what im saying is do as I say not as I do! sorry!
  9. Put simply.......NO (Unless you can have grandfather rights that I dont know about??) A cache will not be reviewed without a log book!! But it happens. When you have sixty caches dotted about the place this is the obvious thing to do to save on cache maintainence!! Its not big and its not clever!!! Dont do it!!
  10. I dont know!!! I think it is all just too much for me!!I Havnt got a clue with computers, I think i am wasting peoples time trying!! Sorry

  13. Theres a shop in Newton stuart that you havnt mentioned!! Could this thread be any more commercial???
  14. You know those little yellow things you always try to wee on in pub urinals (well I do anyway). You could have a micro disguised as one of those. In Scotland/Borders would this nano be called a "wee cache"????
  15. "And that is the reason I had to eat all the chocs tonight"!!
  16. I would like to see 'The good beer guide cache crawl' with 4500 listed pubs you would never be far from a cache(or a decent pint) . I didnt mention CAMRA as i didnt want this to look like a commercial post!! Any new series would be most welcome but as previously stated 'Off your trolley' is already a established but please add to it as any caching while the other half is shopping would be a great break!!! Andy
  17. Police phone box aka TARDIS would be best !! That way you could even do archived caches [] AND you could have an advantage when it comes to FTFs But I dont know what OS it is !! Andy[]
  18. Great thread!! Locally we had a cache go missing in a stream after a storm but one of our number went above and beyond!! The Dingle (gc1gwvg) October 6 by graham1875 (1507 found) 2TF by the greatest cacher around here I apologise to Izzy and Paul, it is not in his pocket it was too big to go in. Determined to find it, I got up early this morning and took my folding bike and a canoe with me ( no GPSr it would have been a waste of time ) Set off down the river and late afternoon found it bobbing away nicely near Gt Yarmouth , another half hour and it would have been out to sea. Got an express train back and have now replaced the cache but not exactly where it should be ( more rain forcast for tonight and we don't want to lose it again. The co-ords are still more or less still correct. If you now stand on the bridge and are very tall like Andy you just might reach it. It is much easier if you go off the bridge and look in the tree above the bridge. The cache is still in very good order and dry. A note to Bess's Friend, its in the tree you became very friendly with yesterday. Took TB Left nothing ( I was skint after paying the train fair back. Now go and find it. TFTC and the fun. [This entry was edited by graham1875 on Tuesday, October 07, 2008 at 10:39:11 AM.] He would do it too [] After loads of people tried and failed Graham went down stream and found the cache. Three cheers for Big Graham Hip hip........ More great stories please..
  19. I use Uniross 2700 rechargables as Elaine brought them for the dig camera but they seem to have landed in our Garmin!! We also have a incar charger so if we are away from home we can always have fresh batteries. Heres Andys nerdy tip of the day.....Maplins(or several other quality electrical stores) sell AA cell holders that are good for 4 batteries!! (about £4 for 3)This little holder has helped me locate my batteries in seconds instead of looking for ages at the bottom of me bag!! Really usfull when you get the dreaded low bat sign at night!! And you can easily keep the dead batteries away from the good ones!! I couldnt say how long they last but without backlight it has found about 30 caches between charges. Andy
  20. It surely cant count without a picture!!! Fluffy posts oh how iv missed them
  21. perhaps scottpa100 all would be ok with the reviewers if you hadnt selfishly gone away for a week!! Thanks for mentioning caching it has been all to easy to forget that is what we are all here for. Back on thread. There arnt that many rules!! 1 find somewhere nice. 2 Place cache 3 wait for reviewer to say thats all cool!!(which normaly takes about 12 hrs .thank you reviewers) 4 wait for cachers to find it and paste TFTC on every cache that day!!.Job done. I will leave it to the blue touch paper posters to have an indepth debate. I will just try and have fun in the rain in a field up to me knees in cow ......... Right keyboard down wellys on lets go caching.(well its a little cold...maybe later)
  22. "The UK reviewers and moderators certainly have my full support. They give up a great deal of time to do sometimes difficult and thankless jobs, and in my opinion do those jobs extremely well" Sorry i dont know how to do the quote thingy!! Difficult and thankless job?? I cant do anything about the difficult but I can say THANK YOU for a job well done there you go now its only difficult Thankyou for all the modrevs that have helped keep me sane over the last few days. Three cheers for the modrevs Hip hip..............
  23. the Paul n Izzy song "drive all night" by ... bruce springsteen Or Def leppard "It Could Be You" or "It Don't Matter" Sorry if they have already been done
  24. As a noob and without knowing the politics that cause all the back stabing i would like to say i havent had a problem with the reviewers (except this one time when i wanted to place a cache in a kitten cemetery in a train station using firetacks......) I like to go out of my way to praise them whenever I send a new cache for review I point out what a great job the reviewer is doing [] Three cheers for the UK reviewers.................... HIP HIP.....
  25. I picked up a box of fire tacks at the mega event but now i dont know if i will ever use them!! I have had a thought on the matter ............. If i bore a 1" hole in all the trees then knock in a 1" dowel Atatch the fire pins to the "DEAD WOOD" that way I would be keeping everyone happy..........Wouldnt I ??
