  1. Hmm, I can see using those in dense urban areas, perhaps those new to caching or when in unknown areas...but it does kind of take the fun out of the hunt to have the GPS route you directly to it!
  2. Agreed, the fact that they include the adapter that charges both the Palm & GPS is great, as was your velcro idea How well does the window mount work while driving, by chance?
  3. Thanks for the info, think I'm going to get that Zire 72/GPS bundle now. Just seems too good for the price, especially at that site you mentioned -- $389!
  4. I'm glad to find this thread because I'm tempted to buy that Zire 72/GPS bundle package! Sure looks like a great deal for what you get in the box. Is your tutorial available online, Marky? Thanks!
  5. You might want to take a look at QuakeMap, which I believe will utilize the updated Terraserver images as well as provide excellent caching tools. I've been using it for a year now and it's great being able to see my cache finds and tracks on the aerial photos...plus it's only $10.00 to register, quite a deal
  6. I've used QuakeMap for awhile now and it's been great, I especially like the color-coded tracks to show altitude changes...worked great when we viewed tracks recorded while flying
  7. Will do, thanks...I'm trying to convince the powers-that-be to upgrade us to 2004 when it comes out, so I'm sure it'd work fine with that version! "You can freeze gum off of jeans?!"
  8. This is a great idea! Does it work with MapPoint 2001? I think .csv files can be imported, but your utility would be easier... "You can freeze gum off of jeans?!"
  9. I just received my 76S and while I don't have Mapsource yet, I have to say it's a great unit so far and highly recommended "You can freeze gum off of jeans?!"

  11. Howdy...I recently picked up a Garmin GPSMAP 76S after doing 2 weeks of research on units, and it rocks! Large screen, loads of features, and an external antenna connector are what sold me, as well as the built-in maps. Offroute.com had a terrific price and part of the cost goes to support the site here...I go caching with someone who has a Magellan Meridian, and both units do a fine job of locating stuff and keeping satellite lock. Like others stated, it's all about preference features you want, and whatever you upgrade to will work great "You can freeze gum off of jeans?!"
  12. quote:Originally posted by Desert_Warrior:If you will be waiting for "A Girl my Lord in a flat-bed Ford", better take a lot of water with, AZ is hot this time of year. He's not lyin'--water is a must in AZ I grew up in Winslow, so naturally I have to plug the "Standin' on the Corner" spot! I'd also recommend visiting the La Posada resort, restored from its 1930's glory, complete with a 5-star chef who moved over from Beverly Hills...seriously good food there "You can freeze gum off of jeans?!"
  13. There's quite a bit to see in AZ along I-40! I'm biased, of course, living in AZ...but in Winslow they have a nice downtown area with a park dedicated to the Eagles song "Take it Easy," complete with a bronze statue of a man standin' on the corner, a girl in a flatbed Ford painted on a mural behind him I believe there is a cache there as well. I'll second the Meteor Crater suggestion as well, it's quite a sight, as are the museum and NASA equipment there. Have a fun and safe trip, sounds like it'll be great!
