  1. Thanks for the reply. I later figured out what the problem was. I had logged it correctly a couple of months ago, but the travel bug itself doesn't match the tracking number. Possibly the bug got separated from the tracking number, and was replaced by a cute Santa Claus toy. So, I was trying to relog the travel bug, which isn't possible. duh!
  2. I picked up a travel bug a while ago, and I thought I logged it, but apparently not. Now, I can't figure out how to do so. I followed the website instructions, but it didn't work. I have the tracking number, of course, so I expected to be able to type that in, and mark it as picked up.
  3. I let a travel bug loose today on the world. I've done this in the past, but not for quite a while. I can't figure out how to track my travelbug. used to be easy. So, where is that now?
  4. hey great, thanks for the info. I'll set my spouse on it.
  5. We like using pocket queries to avoid wasting time looking for defunct caches. However, the option of listing the caches found in the last 7 days is too restrictive. It should be more like the last 4 weeks. Anyone know how to query for the last 4 weeks, or something similar?
  6. There are so many reasons. For me: 1) Great way to have a fun day with spouse. 2) It appeals to the engineer nerd in me. 3) The wonderful aha! of finding a well hidden cache, or a super clever one. 4) Great way to get much needed exercise. Try geo-biking! 5) It takes me to interesting places. So many surprise gems even in my neighborhood. 6) Its fun to go on this website, read the logs, check the stats.
  7. It's a club. And unless you know the secret handshake you can't get in. It's nice to see people being more accepted in their own diversity, rather than pigeon-holed as "Minority A", "Minority B", etc. I know local geocachers who are and it makes no nevermind to me, the old stereotypes are dead and good riddance to them. If members of a community wish to reach out to each other, I'm totally cool with it. After all, isn't what what we all are doing here as "Geocachers"? The way I read it, I think that Coldgear's point was that this thread does pigeon-hole a minority group. And my point is We All are a minority.
  8. Saw this interesting video on www.wimp.com I'm trying this on my next flight. http://www.wimp.com/gpsairplane/
  9. Two more in PA. See my related post (now closed). http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=277374&hl=lcandela123&st=0
  10. I like cleverly camouflaged caches that are hidden right in plain sight.
  11. So, we're moving next year to Texas. What should we do with the caches we maintain here in Pennsylvania? Discontinue them? Take them with us?
  12. Let's see: 1) Stung by nettles in the NJ marshland - that sucked! 2) Stung by several bees along the Delaware River Canal trail 3) Fell off a wall in Provincetown, MA 4) Hurt feet during steep climb in park in Springfield, PA 5) Sliced hand on sharp rock in Ireland 6) Numerous tree pokes, thorns, scratches, etc, BUT NO POISON IVY!!!! I hate that stuff, so am extra careful.
  13. Unfortunately, I did not write down the bug numbers. I'm thinking I could write the owners, and see if they have the numbers. Or, maybe this will work itself out as others find the bugs and correct the mistake.

    oops

I had two similar travel bugs, and I accidentally registered them in each other's cache. Ouch! How do I undo this?
  15. Caches near playgrounds are OK by me, but inside the playground is not cool. I found a micro deep inside a kiddie-sized ship in a playground once. I could barely squeeze in to get it. There were no kids around, so I went for it, but no way if there were any little ones around.
  16. good idea. We have to work in the apocalpse somehow. costumes?
  17. This is a remarkable coincidence, as I was just thinking that it isn't very creative or respectful of me to just say TFTC when I can't think of anything else. OK, from now on, a personal, interesting note on EVERY cache. After all, you took the time to hide it!
  18. Your caches are very clever and artful. Maybe best to take them with you and rehide them. Then, they can be maintained properly.
  19. us, too. Looking for gay geocachers in the Philadelphia area. Also like geobiking.
  20. Thanks Alabama, Didn't know there was a setting that could speed it up.
  21. Thanks for the help. We just bought a Garmin 60st on Amazon, as the reviews were really interesting. Also, looks like it'll fit on the bicycle attachment we had for the 60 CSX. Thanks for the advice on the range setting speeding up the "calculating" feature. Didn't know that.
