Just to let you know I had the same type of deal as you. My Explorixt Xl broke and the rep was going send me a triton 1500 for free. About 2 monthes and what seamed like 100 phone calls later I recieved my OLD Explorist back. It wasn't fixed, just put in a different box and returned to me. I got back on the phone with magellan and said that they would send out another explorist XL AND Trition 1500. I didn't get my hopes up though because of what I had already been through. I'm gald I didn't to, becasue almost 4 month later they finally arrived. The explorist didn't even work though. So, now I'm completely finished with magellan. They will recieve no more of my money.

I had the same type of deal offered to me back in later December. Still I haven't recieved my unit, except the broken one that I sent in that is still broken. Well, I hope it workes out for you.

I hope its really true, cause I can sell all my magellan's and buy this!

Its not clear on magellans website but does anyone know if the triton 1500 has a 3 axis compass or a barometer?

Well thanks to bubnme I got the 2.5 chipset and did a small test outside. A couple of week earlier I had walked around my house outside looking at the speedo and it wouldn't record any speeds below 1.7mph. Now with chipset 2.5 I did the same thing and now it was recording speeds as low as .7mph and my traklog odometer and the track info in mapsource all had the same distance traveled. So I think that Garmin is getting much closer now.

I just tried it on my new hcx and it worked fine.
