  1. So if I decide to hide a cache that relies on clues to find it rather than coordinates, but don't include this stamp in it, is it still considered a letterbox hybrid or would i just call it a mystery/puzzle cache or multi-stage?
  2. Alot of these types of caches that I have looked at seem to include some kind of stamp inside of them. Is this required? What is the stamp for?
  3. It's very rude for ANYONE to say something like "Just not worth the smiley". People work hard to create and hide these caches so others can have fun going out to find them. Not to be criticized because the conditions weren't to there liking. It was rude in my opinion.
  4. Sorry, I accidentally posted this thread 4 times. It was acting like it didnt wanna post it and I can't figure out how to delete the others.
  5. Is there any way to see who all is watching the caches you've placed?
  6. What shops seem to be the most popular as far as buying geocaching equipment, primarily containers and unique cache containers such as fence post caches? I'm looking at www.cachesupply.com and they have some pretty good containers and good prices on them, but the looks of the site don't seem very professional and make me question its legitimacy. Anyone else ever shop from there?
  7. I have been trying to come up with cache ideas that I havent seen used in any caches that I am aware of. I came up with the idea of hiding a cache that has nothing but a riddle inside of it. The finder must email me the answer to the riddle. If the answer is right, then I will send them the coordinates to the final location with the actual cache and logbook inside. What do you all think of this idea? Any ideas on making it even more interesting? Also, what kind of cache would I mark this as, a multi?
  8. I've noticed on geocaching.com that there's a link that lets you put in your home coordinates. I have been unable to find a search that allows you to search based on this. All I can find is the basic searches such as by address, zip code, state and such. Is there a search within mile range of home coordinates button anywhere?
  9. I went out caching today, and I'm fairly new to the travel bug thing. I retrieved one from one location, and placed it in another location, but didn't write down the tracking number. Is there anyway that I can still log this without actually going back to the location and getting the number off of it because it was a pretty length drive.
  10. OK, I feel a little bit better then. Thanks everyone for the help!
  11. No, no one should be able to find this without being able to see the cache page. Each stage gives a set of numbers to use in calculating the coordinates for the next stage and there are 4 stages. Are they not able to see the the actual cache page at all until it is published?
  12. Actually I did drop a geocoin in it. That must be what it is. Should I remove it?
  13. Yea, I did it both ways when I submitted it for review. The reviewers note and the additional waypoints feature. I guess what freaked me out most was that I got an email from someone who may have very well been the reviewer, but he asked if my cache was a multi-stage cache. I figured a reviewer would've known that because i'm pretty sure I did everything as I was suppose to and stated that it would be a multi-stage cache. I was mainly just curious about the reviewers note thing and wondering if there was any way for anyone other than myself and the reviewer to be able to see it.
  14. I just posted a multi-stage cache and as well as adding the coordinates for each stage as additional hidden waypoints, I also posted a note to reviewer with the coordinates for each. Did I do anything wrong by doing this? The cache hasnt been published yet, but I just wanna make sure that no one will be able to see that information except for the reviewer.
  15. Thanks for the quick replies. That helps alot!
  16. I know that if you hide a cache, it has to be atleast a tenth of a mile away from all other caches, but if I was to hide a multi-stage cache, does each stage have to be that far apart also?
  17. When publishing a new cache hide, do the reviewers actually have to go to the site and find the cache first to make sure that there are no problems with that particular hiding spot? When publishing a multi-stage cache, do you have to submit to them the exact coordinates and where to look for each stage? Also, how long does it usually take for a cache to appear in the searches after you have submitted it?
  18. Does anyone know if there is a way to search specifically for member only caches?
