  1. I actually know a few firemen at one of our local fire departments and I am going to try to hide it beside or behind the fire department if I get permission. If not I might hide it back in the woods real far behind a tree to where it won't be seen from the local trails.
  2. There is a stake in the ground. I plan on putting a stake in the ground and then pushing it down in the ground a little.
  3. Here is my new cache I made with the help of Head Hard Hats instructions.
  4. Upgraded mine this morning and I now have D's and accuracy at about 5 to 9 feet!!!!
  5. One thing that I would consider is sticking with the same manufactures that way software and thing are compatible. If you get one of the Etrex's without the installed maps you could use MapSource and go to http://www.gpsfiledepot.com and get some good topo maps for free.
  6. I would look on eBay for a Garmin Etrex Legend or Vista HCx. You can get them for around $200.00 if you watch. Either one of them should do very well. Here is a Garmin Etrex Legend HCx. Garmin Etrex Legend HCx Here is a Garmin Etrex Vista HCx. Garmin Etrex Vista HCx
  7. Take it back to the store you bought it from and see if they will exchange it for a new one.
  8. Ok it looks like I will be in Myrtle Beach in the next couple of days and I was wondering what are some must visit caches in the Myrtle Beach area.
  9. Yep I was going to try those next but I have a lot of the coke bottle ones left.
  10. Well I am at work until 6AM and then some much needed sleep. Sundays are bad for me because by the time I get to bed Monday morning I will have been up for over 24 hours.
  11. Here is mine. I just started it not to long ago. Kywaterfowler's GeoBlog
  12. +1 for the Cloud Walker. I use that one as well and its a great day hiking/geocaching backpack.
  13. I make these all them time. You may find out that the hot glue may not hold up over time. I use this and everything seems to be doing well with all the ones that I have put out. Loctite Repair Extreme
  14. If anyone has any info about the caches in the Destin area that would be great as well. I will be going there in June.
  15. Those are some pretty funny names. I really like the Satellite Stalker, and The Tupperware Times.
  16. I had to post this because I just thought it was a little funny and ironic.
  17. I would venture to say because people have not been educated about firearms and are scared of them. When really a gun sitting there on a table is just as harmless as a knife, sword, hiking staff, and other weapons. It all has to do with the person who decides to pick the weapon up. If this weren't a family friendly forum I would be reading you the proverbial riot act. There is a HUGE difference between being "afraid" of something and just not liking them. I don't like spiders. I am not afraid of spiders. I don't like stepping in dog poo but I'm not afraid of dog poo. I don't like guns but I'm not afraid of them. AND, there is a HUGE difference between a knife, sword, hiking staff and so many other things and a gun. A child accidentally picking up a gun is 100 times more dangerous than any of your other examples. So, you want to educate me? Come on, give it a try. There is nothing you can tell me about gun safety that I don't already know (other than arbitrary statistics). And until you have had someone shot in your house or faced a loaded weapon donw the barrel a few times, why not just keep your judgmental opinions to yourself. I am sorry if I offended you and I am finished with discussing this topic. Once again everyone is entitled to their own opinions.
  18. just wondering, why would anyone need a gun for? Honestly I really think its time to stop commenting about firearms all together because everyone has their own opinions and this could go on for pages. I really hope Geo-raldo does not give up this fun hobby and takes the necessary precautions to protect themselves as well as their family. Whether it be a firearm, mace, pepper spray, taser, or good old fists. Just keep caching!!!!

  20. Does anyone know what the difference is between the LaCrosse BC-700 and the BC-9009?
  21. I have the Garmin Oregon 450 and I love it. It has all the bells and whistles a geocacher could ever need.
  22. A verse from one of my favorite songs. What is the name of the song? I would like to listen to the rest of the song.
  23. Just make sure your definition of "life is in danger" agrees with that of the police, public prosecutor, judge, and jury. And you do know good lawyers, right? Correct, but I still have the right to protect myself and my family at all cause. And once again deadly force is only justified if you have no other way to avoid the situation. If you can get in your car and leave or simply walk/run away then by all means do so. Also don't think you won't get in trouble for beating someone up with a good sturdy walking staff too. Where some of our geocaches are located you never know what you might run into, whether it be a pot plant cop out in the woods or a active meth lab out in the woods. But those situations usually don't end to well. Granted the odds are slim to none on running into either of those but you never know.
