  1. It's easy to make a cache hard to find (or solve if it's a puzzle). The trick is in making the find/puzzle fun while being difficult. I'd recommend getting some experience doing hard finds or puzzles before trying to make a really hard one yourself. The problem is that it is really easy to make a needle-in-a-haystack hide or what we call a "moon logic" puzzle and then think that because your hide is difficult it is a "good" one. Amen.
  2. I have started to equate my creation of a log to the hider's creation of a cache. If it is a creative hide it deserves a creative log. I have a 5 star cache I found last week and still haven't logged it because I can't decide on what to say just yet. Yet a lampposts get the TFTC, creativity is contagious.
  3. A puzzle cache that's missing. I realize this is my mistake for taking the time to solve the puzzle and not checking the previous logs but at least archive it or do some maintenance. Another would be a hider that has too many hidden to do any maintenance at all. After receiving a few emails or logs that are suspect I look in on my caches. Once I take the time to check one of them I check them all.
  4. I agree completely, if the cache is in a high muggle area that is the chance the owner has taken. Best to act like you belong there than draw attention by looking around for watchers.
  5. If I show up at event cache 2 hr's early and noone is there yet, can I log it as a FTF?
  6. I believe it is very easy for anyone new not to understand the process of logging a travel bug. I had no idea and didn't read it anywhere on the site except in the forums. If it wasn't for the person that introduced me to the sport I would have not known what to do with one. A mission statement and the instructions on how to log would go with any bug I release. We have some experienced cachers here who hold onto bugs for weeks before logging them, so I may also add to note something like Please log as soon as possible.
  7. Caterpillar stings can be some of the most painful. There's a type of caterpillar that lives on Crepe Myrdles (sp?). It's brown and fuzzy looking and if you touch it, it will put you in the hospital. The pain is agonizing and it can make you violently ill. Crepe Myrtles
