  1. why quit caching just because of missing coins? the find is the fun, trackables are just an extra! BTW, when we find a cache inventory is off we contact the cache owner and the trackable owner and let them know what we found and ask them to move the trackables to the "missing" location to help keep cache inventories more accurate. Not a reason to quit caching, just something that is a fact of life and not hard to deal with it.
  2. who cares? not lke your note was taking up server space on the CO's server! I only read a log once when it hits my caches and then forget about them.
  3. working in the IT service industry allows me to be on the road almost every day. If there is a cache near a location near my lunch break then I may go for it. mostly just the park and go's though. nothing too time consuming.
  4. the Landsharkz appear to be trackables and the other are not. probably the reason for the price difference.
  5. Keystone, A simple "no, we have no immediate plans to have a 24/7/365 staff to take service requests from our users" would have been enough.
  6. what are you DoD employees doing browsing the web at work? Isn't that really an at home/on your own time thing?
  7. cache owner may be waiting for the construction to be finished before replacing the cache. At the very least a Reviewer should have "disabled" the cache and contacted the cache owner for verification.
  8. i've got nothing to add to this other than..... is "brilliant" the hint for an LPC?
  9. head over to NOVAGO.org. You can find somebody official there that will be more than willing to help!
  10. these are the same people that log a find on the first stage of a multi and say they will be back later for the rest.
  11. that's what I say too. I only mentioned everybody that was giving "advice" give a buck instead so we could just end this thread.
  12. Time. In the spring and fall my weekends are taken up with coaching soccer and weekdays are taken up by work (well they were until I was recently laid off). If a cache of mine needs maintenance during soccer season I sometimes have to put it off until the season ends, particularly if it is one that takes a long time to get to. Do you disable them until you can get to them or just leave them alone?
  13. Groundspeak.com, navicache.com, terracaching.com no respect for the competition!
  14. actually if everybody that has posted here would just Paypal the guy a $1 to help a fellow cacher out then we could just move on.
  15. or how about the cache owner thats placed hundreds of caches and whenever a "Needs Maintenance" gets logged they just archive it? I know one of those guys and try to avoid his caches now.
  16. I think the biggest questions would pertain to how much did you spend on food and lodging while in the area. Also, souvenier/gift shopping and fuel purchased would have to be included.
  17. too bad the audit log can't be used on ever cache. It would be nice to know what kind of interest I am getting on some of my caches.
  18. This is really uncalled for. The guy is trying to fix a problem that stems from the two groups of people that have the tools to correct it not using the tools to do so. He's also sending these notes to the trackable owners. There's always a chance that people that would be willing to correct the inventory (cache owners and trackable owners alike) may not know that they are able to. People that look for ammo cans and food containers in the woods (you know, all of us) shouldn't be telling somebody they have too much time on their hands. To many non-cachers, we all have too much free time. Really, keeping an eye on 2000 caches just to make sure the inventory is "correct" seems like a waste of time to me too. Sure, I contact cache and trackable owners if I find a cache that isn't right and I monitor my own caches to make sure they are accurate but that should be the extent of it for most of us. I find it funny that he got a 60% response from cache/trackable owners who really should never have needed to be nudged by the emails in the first place.
  19. how about a survey card in your goodie bag that you pick up when you register at GW? You could have a drop box somewhere on site that the survey cards could be put in by the end of the day or provide a mailing address for those that want to fill it out at a later date. Sounds simple enough, just need to get the local organizers of each GW to help with getting the cards in the bags.
  20. and never go back just to trade! there a literally a million caches out there. sign the log and never look back!
  21. DEATH Valley! More closer to the Mojave Desert. They are along a road called Powerline Rd. It runs along electric transmission lines. zoom in using the satellite image. Looks like the caches are at the bases of all the towers. Don't forget your sunscreen!
  22. now I have a reason to go to Vegas and rent a Jeep! Looks like a great 3 day weekend to me!
  23. not sure what the rules are but we have found caches in rest stops in Virginia and Tennessee as well.
  24. Only problem with that is getting the local Reviewer to publish it. Only problem is I've owned the land for seven years and never went there. I've only seen photographs and satellite images. Looks like a jungle. Time for a visit, don't you think? Who knows what the locals have been doing on your land for the last 7 years. Did you actually visit it before buying or buy it sight unseen? maybe it's not really there? Oh, and I've got some nice property here in Virginia I will sell you for a song just as long as you never visit it either. Want me to send some pics?
