  1. Is it possible to load pocket queries onto a Nuvi 1490 LMT ? If so, how?
  2. The Invisible Shield series of screen protectors are very good. They're a little more expensive than others, but worth it. They also come with a warranty, but you probably won't need it.
  3. I received a Garmin Nuvi 1490 LMT in the recent holiday, but it was not known that I already have a Nuvi. I would like to sell this one. It is brand new, comes with all the stock accessories, but no box.. I am asking $100. If I don't hear anything in a week, it's going to eBay. thanks
  4. However you had a 13/12/11 and a 10/11/12 and all the other stuff that ended in 0 through 12.
  5. Is there going to be a Souvenir graphic for a 12/13/14 event? I think there should be...
  6. I happen to know that the author of the BadgeGen plugin reads the GSAK forums.
  7. Well I went ahead and got a nuvi 1490, but I'm kind of down on it now, and may sell it. My biggest complaints: 1) It takes a LONG time to boot up, much longer than my Oregon 450. 2) That annoying Warning screen when it comes on, I can't find a way to get rid of it, and it's just terrible. 3) It can't take the long-term heat from the sun while being mounted to a dashboard 4) The battery is not removable/replaceable 5) The location of the power port is just crazy inconvenient. It would be so much better on the bottom, so it didn't need that right-angle power cord, just the same one I've had in my car forever. 6) So much more information could be displayed simultaneously, but it's not. It would seem to not even know many things that the Oregon does, such as Dist to Next. It's just dumber, and I'm upset about it.. I guess what I'm really looking for is: 1) I'd like to transfer the points to it ahead of time, when I'm getting my Oregon ready for the trip, but I can't find that feature, and then I'd want something like "Go to next nearest" as a one-touch, as this one is marked as found, and then never to be seen again. 2) Go straight to the map screen. It's far less often that I need to find an address, and for that I'd willingly press a back button. 3) Ability to disable that stupid warning screen. I'm not gonna sue them or hurt myself or drive into water or something stupid. 4) Faster boot time, 6 seconds max. (this thing takes 20 seconds to even get to the warning screen) 5) The ability to "beam" non-Geocache waypoints from the Oregon to the Nuvi. Really, I just want an Oregon (or similar) but with a bigger screen, (but the lane assist and knowing the speed limit is awesome.) I think I'm gonna just continue to use my Oregon with Routable maps, in the car. I've been doing that for a while, but I wanted the bigger screen. I should just get a second Oregon and keep it in the car. Did I just get the wrong model? Is there one that has these things, like with a Geocaching mode?
  8. If you use a benchmark to determine location, you must use one that the location is "corrected" and not "scaled" - in order to get a precise position. Scaled is not precise, as it was determined by somebody looking at a map 50 years ago. If corrected, it is by a professional surveyor using a professional surveying GPS, and then the coordinates will be to I think 8 places, which is way overkill for most people, but it will be in the Degrees Minutes Seconds coordinate system, and will need to be converted into the Degrees Decimal-minutes system that Geocachers use.
  9. Yeah, I'll just get a pair of 32's, you're right, that's probably the best way to go. Thanks
  10. It's a Nuvi 1490LMT, and on mine will be CNNA and maybe Topo24k West, but I'll probably get the 32 anyhow, just so I don't have any problems in the future. But for the gift, just CNNA. (I think that is the one where they say lifetime map updates, they give you that one, but correct me if I'm wrong)
  11. The Nuvi that I am considering getting, has a maximum size (of mSD card) of 32 GB and recommended minimum of 8 GB. My question is, what size do I really need? What is practical, what is extra. I guess, I'd have to transfer maps to it once in a while, I don't know how big those are, then there's some waypoints and some tracks. I found a really good deal on a refurb one, and so I'm going to get 2, one for myself and one for a gift. The gift one, I want to include a mSD card, and I will transfer maps ahead of time, but I don't expect that person is not a geocacher, and I don't expect them to do a ton of waypoints and tracks. Though I will be getting the maximum card size for myself, though I think that might be overkill for them. I don't know for sure though.
  12. I am considering getting a Nuvi. I already have an Oregon 450. Is there a model Nuvi that would allow me to transfer waypoints and caches from my Oregon 450 to the Nuvi wirelessly?
  13. Sometimes actions for caches, don't work with Benchmarks, on GC.com - You'll just have to experiment.
  14. If you have your benchmarks loaded into GSAK, you could use that to log the finds, or you may have to write a simple script to do it through GSAK.
  15. I have been downloading directly into GSAK for a while now. It's great, I love it. Now I wish there was a way to turn off the emails about it. I know they've been run. I set them up. I'd really like to turn off the emails without having to set up a filter. Is there a way?
  16. When I open a bookmark, up in the right-hand corner is the text "Results per page:". Clicking on the drop-down arrow, I see the options to show 10, 15, 20, 25, 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, 500, 750, or 1000 at a time. Do you not have that? If you change it to show 1,000 at a time, that problem will be taken care of. B. I didn't see that there. It wasn't obvious, but no problem.
  17. So, I was looking at one of my bookmark lists recently, and I was lamenting how there were only 20 items displayed on the list at one time. I can see that in the days of dialup internet connections, but in the modern days of much faster connections, I think it would be awesome if I could display more items on the list at once. Say... 250. But then I deleted a couple entries off the 2nd of 3 pages on that bookmark list, and I noticed that when I deleted them, the page refreshed to page 1 of 3 on the list, and that was... annoying. I was wondering if it could be made to at least stay on the page it was on when deleting entries. thanks
  18. Hmm. When I try to go to that Google Earth Library page, I get: Fatal error: Call-time pass-by-reference has been removed in /home1/forkboy2/public_html/gelib/wp-content/plugins/gtrans/gtrans.php on line 40
  19. I think a FOIA req isn't needed, because NGS stores the info publically, and USGS will give the info to anyone that asks. I've seen ones from National Transportation Board or something like that, but that's rare.
  20. Yes, exactly. It seems to be a "private" mark, and wouldn't be in the NGS database.
  21. Hmm. Yeah, the name is kind of common for marks.
  22. Here's the photo of my friend holding the disc.
  23. Hmm, that fits. The station would definitely be destroyed, since the mark is actually in the back of a classroom somewhere in Fairbanks.
  24. I'll get the photo. It for sure does not have a year (or anything else) stamped on it.
