  1. Thanks all. I have Easy GPS so I'll try that first. I thought I had to convert the .loc files to .wpt first but I'll try loading the .loc files from EasyGPS. Thanks to all who replied with suggestions.
  2. I must be missing something so I'm asking the Powers That Be here for help: I have a SporTrak Pro with the PC cable, a membership so I get pocket queries as .loc and .gpx files, and Mapsend Topo but I can;t figure out how to import the waypoints into my GPSr?!?! It wants a .wpt file but I'm not seeing a way to create those.......help! Thanks.

  4. I'm going to definitely email the owner of this cache and have the $$@*(*&* difficulty changed!!
  5. quote:There is also a very cool website with LAT/LON of old and also abandoned grave yards. I don't have anything to add that hasn't been said yet, except that I'd love to see that website.....would you mind emailing it to me?
  6. Thanks, I had to open the box all by myself! I vaguely remember Magic Sand...refresh my memory though, what did it do?
  7. (Musical notes) Women get wooly..... Yes they get wooly... because of all the stress.....
  8. With all the talk about Geo-Coins and signature items going around constantly, I'd thought I'd throw in my 2 cents. Here's a fun way to make homemade signature items as well as other little items: You and your kids can use Shrinky Dinks to make items with the Geocaching logo, etc. I was playing around the other day and made the keychain pictured below but you could just as easily make necklaces, charms, etc. I think with a little work on the basic design here we can add our name and make these our signature item. As always, make sure to send the proper email to the guys at Geocaching.com to get their expressed permission touse the logo before distributing these things. All comments welcome except criticisms of my artistic abilities! (One final note - stay away from square objects like this one - cut them into circles, etc. as these edges are quite sharp)
  9. Enough already. You've both made your points. I intended to post something helpful on here but now I've forgotten what the dadgum topic was in the first place. You guys can agree to disagree. For future: If you have a problem with one individual, why not contact them directly via their profile page after the first post and deal with it that way instead of cluttering up the message boards. You're not doing anybody any favors by lashing out directly at each other-
  10. I'll agree with the water always! Also, Red Bull (or other energy drinks) are always good because they also provide Taurine which helps break up lactic acid on the long hikes - and prevents soreness the next day. Favorite snacks are trailmix and Power Gel. These are made by the PowerBar people but have the consistency of frosting. Same ingredients but a much smaller pack and very yummy, too!
  11. Hey, does anybody have a copy of MapSend Topo that they want to sell? I just bought this unit (it's in the mail as I write) so I'm going to need to get this, too! Email me via my profile if you do. Thanks!

  13. Also, do a search on this forum for "Geo-Coins" and you'll find a few threads about this topic. There are coins, poker chips, etc. that you can have done. Good luck!
  14. Ok guys, question: Based on the results of the poll above - with 53% of us having scrapbooking in the mix - would it be appropriate to put a link on here to my wife's website? She does scrapbooking, etc. and holds classes, sells items, etc.? I know we don't want this forum to become a sales forum, but since it's appropriate and I've seen other links to sites for people who sell caching walking sticks, etc. I thought I'd get your opinions on this. Thanks.
  15. I've seen a lot of great coins and 'stuff' on here also and started playing around with a few things, too. We're trying to figure out what our signature item will be so I grabbed my kids Shrinky Dinks and made myself a keychain. I think with a little work and adding in our team info these may happen....we have a few other ideas blooming as well.... Don't be afraid to play around with stuff. I like to see the handmade stuff just as much as the 'professional' coins, etc.
  16. Been out caching so just catching up on the forums......Other outdoor activities: Competitive Beach Volleyball, Waterskiing/Wakeboarding, Camping, Fishing, Snow-skiing and making nude sand angels. Ok, they're not really angels Seriously though, Geocaching has been a great addition to the outdoor activities!
  17. quote:Originally posted by hammack:The SporTrak allows you to list the waypoints (caches) in proximity order. I guess that would meet your requirements, right? That's what I wanted to know, thanks.
  18. Yikes, that's weird. It's like a cult or something......
  19. Thanks RN...I think I heard you are in Idaho, right? Do you know the ZipCode of the Twin Lakes area? My family has a cabin there and I've been toying with the idea of a vacation/caching trip to the TL/Spokane area where I was born.
  20. Looking for advice guys: Want t obuy a new one and have done the research but would like to know a few things: 1) Does either unit let you do a 'query' of nearby caches to your position if you've already entered them? 2) Does either unit support street maps (or do I need to look at higher end models)? This would only be useful when traveling.... Thanks!
  21. Let's not forget the opening of Pandora's box. Bet he was surprised when all he thought he was getting was a McToy.... (I think the cache owner should have had a warning on that one!)
  22. Just my luck....looks like I'll have to make a decision now on what to do - turns out that one of Magellan's treasures in going to be in/around the San Jose area. And me without my GPSr...... Looks like a purchase is on the horizon (very quickly I might add). It all works out well...I can buy a new one now, and win a new one for her, too! Everybody's happy and I can avoid "The Look".
  23. Marky, I'm guessing by your remarks that you just bought a new SporTrak Color to replace your SporTrak Pro.....is that the case? Any chance you'll be listing your Pro on the Garage Forum? It's time for me to upgrade from my Magellan 2000
  24. sandaals, I figured it would be someobdy from Silicon Valley doing something like this I'd love to see a program like this so I'll be keeping my eyes on this thread!
