  1. It seems to me that the change to use markdown was a classic example of fixing something that was not broken. It's not the first time that has happened on the geocaching.com website. Ian.
  2. It certainly does to me. Today is December 5th, 2012. It would expire on December 5th, 2013, exactly one year from today. I'm having a hard time seeing the confusing part. I suspect the confusing part is that in the USA dates are formatted month / day / year, whereas in Europe they are usually written as day / month / year. Hence you see 12/05/2012 as 5 December whereas a European will read it as 12 May... Of course, the most sensible system is the Japanese one of year / month / day, at least with that format sorting numerically is the same as sorting by date. Have fun, Ian.
  3. You are unlikely to go and look for an archived cache, so it seems reasonable not to show it on the map. Anyway, caches archived after you find them disappear from the maps, it would seem sensible to employ the same logic with DNF frownies. Happy caching, Ian.
  4. Why do you care? It has no impact on your cache count, nor on your ability to enjoy the hunt and find. If some people are so shallow that they feel the need to lie about their count, it is their problem; they know they are cheating and there is no sensible reason why anyone else would really care. Just ignore the idiots and have fun, Ian.
  5. I wish a few more folks would hide multis like the one described in the OP. I get fed up with a few folks around my home patch throwing caches down on walks as if they were breadcrumbs. There is no way that those caches will be maintained for any length of time and quite frankly that means some of the caches will turn into little more than litter. There is nothing wrong with a well laid out multi to encourage cachers to follow a sensible route. Happy caching, Ian.
  6. I also tend to print maps and then hand annotate them. An automated way of doing this would be a useful timesaver. Happy caching. Ian.
  7. Seconded! I frequently use other maps in order to check the co-ordinates of a specific feature I want to vist / avoid / park by / whatever so it would be avery handy if the current cursor co-ordinates were displayed on the maps within the Geocaching website. Happy caching, Ian.
  8. Sometimes it is obvious how to do something once somebody else points it out. Thanks for that. I think I'd still like to have the option of a blue face being displayed, but creating a switchable mapping option is probably more effort than would be justified by the return. In the meantime your suggestion pretty much ticks all the boxes. Thanks again. Ian.
  9. I have seen lots of discussion here about whether folks log their DNFs or not and why. My own take is that DNFs are part of caching so I log them. The other aspect of that is that many of my DNFs are fun and worth a repeat visit for another go. As my cache count rises, I find it increasingly difficult to remember which caches I've previously DNFd so I'd like to be able to see them on the maps, perhaps as a little blue, unhappy face. This seems such an obvious idea that I am surprised it is not already implemented. Maybe it's not so easy to do or others just have no interest or perhaps I've missed a preference setting somewhere. Any thoughts? Ian.
