  1. I have had this problem on my home PC for some time and was quite sure that it was a PC specific problem becasue this never happens using my work laptop. The only diffrence betweenthe two systems? You guessed it Norton. Here are my specs just to conform: operating system Windows XP browser and version IE 7 URL which causes the error any time I try to "move or zoom" a loaded map Do you use Norton Antivirus? Yes I am going to try turning off the anti-phishing feature that one of the other posters eluded to and see if that fixes the problem. I will report back after that.
  2. Yes, the event was in Washington, not far from my home. I actually wanted to go to it but couldn't make the time. I e-mailed the people who placed the bug in the event in the first place to see if they could remember who they traded it for but they couldn't remeber who they traded with for it. Turns out that of 200 or 300 bugs that were originally placed in the event cache, mine and only 4 others are the only ones that have not been logged and all of them were traded by the people who traded mine. The weather has been both good and bad since the event although even when it has been dry it has been very cold so perhaps you are right and my bug will appear sometime this spring but I just wish people would be more dilgent about logging the bugs they find. I am always very dilgent about logging bugs that I take or even discover in cache's. I have a hard time understanding why people can't be more like me...
  3. I have a bug that was traded at an event. The person who recieved it in trade has not seen fit to record it and the person who traded it to them does not remeber who they gave it to so there is no way for me to contact the current possesor of my bug. This occured over two weeks ago. I read in the FAQ that an owner can move a bug to an unknown location. Is this the same as marking it as missing? I've considered doing that until it pops up again, if it ever does, but I am concerend that if I mark it as missing this will somehow effect it's ability to get back out into circulation if the person who has it ever decides to place it soemwhere else. Can someome tell me what the difference is between marking something missing and moving it to an unknown location (if any)? I don't see an option for "move to unknown location" either on the TB page or as an option for wrting a note on it. thanks for any help.
  4. Thanks bunches, I had a feeling it had to do with the geochecker link but I couldn't figure out how to fix it. At one time the geochecker link WAS properly formatted so I think you must be right about this HTMLtidy thing changing it. I have noticed that sometimes other formatting changes have been made that I never put in there (things like </p> instead of the <p> that I originally put in for a paragraph) after returning to the eidt page after making manual changes. Anyway thanks for the help and hopefully I will be able to recognize this when it happens in the future.
  5. Hoping someone can help me with this. I am new to HTML so I'm not sure if I have done something wrong or if there is something else going on. I have a cache (GC18F70) where the web page seemed to change itself at random. I didn't go into the web page and edit anything but a few days ago I went to the page to check on it and the page has grown. What I mean is that now in order to view the edges of the page, you have to scroll left and right in order to see it. the entire page used to fit inside the view of the web browser, now in order to view the very righ thand portion of th epage you have to use the scroll bar to see it. As I said, this wasn't like this before and I did nothing to make that way. the other problem is that even though I've checked the box for formatting the cache description into HTML, the geochecker link that I have included is not hyperlinked, it's just the web address for it and so in order to use the geochecker info that I have provided the user has to copy the link and paste it into the url instead of just clicking on it. Both of these things seemed to just happen on their own. As I said I just went to the web page one day and this is how it was. Does anyone have any idea how this might have happend and what I can do to get it back the way it was? thanks for any help you can give.
  6. Tahnsk Man, What is in your profile is exactly what I want. I will give that a try. If I fail are you willing to help. thanks for the advice anayway.
  7. I've ntoiced some cool graphics and stats on some peoples profiles. Stats like first finds, 100th find, 200th find, etc. I've also noticed full world maps with states and countries highlighted that the person has found caches in. I've tried creating these things using pocket queries but I don't seem to have any luck. Is there anyone that can help me with stuff like this. I'd like to create statistics based on my cache finds and placements but I don't know how to do it. any help would be greatly appriciated.
  8. Hi Deuce, thanks again for all of your help. as you know I was able to register the bug myself in order to send it on it's way. I was planning on putting it in my first placement but wouldn't you know it as soon as I registered the bug myself the real owners piped in and said they'd like to claim it back. I've verified that they are who they say they are. You mentioned before that we should be able to adopt it back to them. Can you explain how to do it? I can't find anything abvious on how to accomplish that. Thanks once more. Fobes
  9. I wondered how you did that... Thanks again, that looks more how I intended it.
  10. Email sent. Thanks Deuce, that worked. Travel bug reference Number is TB18TG7 if you want to check it out.

  12. Well I've sent another e-mail and posted a note on the cache web site and still I have not heard from them. I've done a little poking around and I don't think these people really know what they are doing. They've logged several finds but this is their only placement. It doesn't look like anyone is watching it so they are not getting notified when the cache site is updated. either my e-mails sent through the web site are getting put in their spam or junk mail folder or they are not checking their e-mails. It's a little weird, if I placed a cache I'd check the log every day to see if it had been updated. Is there a way I can register this bug and start it moving? The only thing I have is the code off the tag itself. Thanks again for any help. -s
  13. Perfect. Figures, no wonder I can never find these things. Are they always magnetic like in your example? Should we expect them to always be stuck to metal?
  14. Thanks, I wrote to them again. Hopefully they will respond soon.
  15. Thanks for all of the responses: Tha Cache number is GC165BT The bug had a traveller attached to it, a little stuffed bear wearing a back pack with some coins and a note in it. There are inventory items listed on the Cahce's web page but this item is not one of them. The Item is only referred to in the description of the cache along with several other items. I did not take the listed inventory item. the owner of the cahce looks active, they've logged finds within the last few days. I could write to them again I guess and then claim the bug as my own if they do not respond. FM
  16. Hi, I am new to geocaching but a thoroughly enjoying my new found hobby. I have a question that I am hoping someone here can answer. I took a travel bug out of a cache I found recently and when I came back to log the find so I could move it I got a message that the bug had not yet been registered. I wrote to the owner of the cache to ask them if they wanted to register the bug but I have not heard back fromt ehm and it's been a week. The bug itself was listed as an item in the cache description so I assume that the owner of the cache is the one who put it there. I'm wondering what to do with it. I'd like to move it along but it reamins unregistered, should I register it myself? Won't that make me the owner of the travel bug; what if the owner pipes in after I register it that they want ot do it. I'm just not sure what the ettiquite should be regarding something like this. Thanks in advance for any help. FM
