  1. I just updated my Brand new RMA unit to 2.70. it's now off, and (hopefully) recording barometer readings.
  2. I didn't know corn grew that tall, oh wait, that's Nebraska. And I'm sure you're aware that I was just making a point. Hey, if you guys want to don the pom pom's and cheerlead for Garmin, have at it! Gimme a G!! And hey, when Garmin addresses the problems with the Colorado's I'll be the first to give you a "G" I was doing the same. I don't need hardcore off road navigation. I have a colorado, and a vista. My colorado has the same problems as everyone else. I will most likely be selling both and pick up a DeLorme PN-40 when it's out though.
  3. I live in Kansas, right down the street from Garmin, and there are plenty of places that I cache that doesn't have a clear view of the sky
  4. I thought I had seen a couple instances where mine was working when turned of, but after more research, it looks like the unit had turned off the display, but had remained on itself. In the morning the batteries were dead, and I had a track log that looked much like a spir-o-graph around my desk. I know the unit had a blank screen as if it were turned off, as I had double checked that before setting it on my desk to go to bed the night before, and I was very surprised that the battery was reporting critically low when I turned the unit on in the morning as I headed out the door. Once in my truck, I attached the external power and went immediately to check the pressure history. I did not have it on the map screen to see the track log showing the unit wandering all around my den over night as it sat on my desk. I have not reported this situation to Garmin yet as I have only seen int twice now, and I didn't realize what had happened until several days after the second incident. I do not know if this is repeatable or not either. It is also possible that I over looked it and left the unit turned on, but that does not seem likely to me... I had the same thing happen to me, it appeared the power was off, and it showed the same track log. My bttery was completely drained after being on from 11 pm to 6 am.
  5. I have both, along with City Navigator. I tried to upload CN, and it said maps can't be unlocked. If I can get a USB unit (My vista is serial, which I can't connect to my computer), then I will give it a try.
  6. Unlike City Navigator, which needs to be unlocked and can only be used on one unit, can topo and inland lakes be used on any Garmin Mapping handheld unit? Im considering selling/trading my current unit, but the ability to load my current maps will play into my decision. I've got a nuvi, so I don't need CN on my handheld, but want to be able to have them on a new handheld. I've searched, but could not come up with anything. Thanks in advance!
  7. I would highly recommend the Garmin Nuvi line. It is portable, comes in many price points, intuitive user interface, and readily available. I moved from Nuvi 350 to a 780 and have been very happy with both. I like the MSN features of the 780, mainly because I can wirelessy transfer an address from my microsoft maps to my nuvi, the traffic feature is so so, but hopefully it will get better. It's been a little off at times, but never have I not been able to find where I was going. I'm heading to Minneapolis this week for the first time, and will be driving to several locations. You can bet my Nuvi will be with me.
  8. I do not currently have a paid membership, and I don't have to load the cache to my computer, only from this site to my Colorado 300. It's worked great so far.
  9. Oops, I didn't realize that this was still connected to my old hotmail account. I got your message. Reply sent This one is gone.

  11. I will also break up the set. Please e-mail me for prices. bb.huber@gmail.com
  12. I've got a used, but in great shape, Vista for sale. I bought it off of craigslist, and then found a great deal on a Colorado, so this one is up for sale for what I have in it. It comes with a car mount back and original back( was chewed on by a dog, so it's pretty beat up). Also comes with 3 disk mapsource topo (original, not copies). It also comes with a neoprene belt case. It has some slight dings here and there, and a few slight marks in the screen, but nothing to impair the view of the unit. I have pictures upon request. I would like $100 for the entire package, which includes shipping. Only CONUS sales please. I will also gladly accept paypal with no fees. Thanks, Brian Olathe, KS
  13. The price of thw quest has been lowered to $180 shipped.
  14. eTrex is sold, Quest is still available for $200.
  15. This unit is in excellent condition. There are a couple of issues however. First, there is no box or papers, only the unit and the USB cable. Second, there is a tear in the rubber flap that covers the usb port on the back of the unit, though this does not hinder the integrity of the unit at all. I will include the original 64 meg micro sd card, as well as a 1 gig card. This unit does not have any maps loaded. This unit works perfectly. The only reason I'm selling is that I had to purchase a new GPS for car navigation because my Quest died today, so I went out and upgraded to a Nuvi 350, I'm just trying to help offset the cost a little. I can provide pictures upon request. I would like $150 shipped for this in the CONUS. I live in Olathe, KS for anyone local. Please e-mail me with questions or to purchase. Edited to add that I also have a Garmin Quest unit that is in great condition, comes with box and all papers, cables, maps... Everything it came with new. I'm asking $200 for it, or will make a combo deal, and sell aboth for $315 Thanks, Brian bb.huber@gmail.com
  16. I'm not sure about posting websites here, but do a search on google and check out surefire's website. Surefire are some of the best lights on the market. One complaint is about the batteries, Surefire now selles them for $15 for a box of 12!! I've got a M3 Turbo headed my way this week$225 lumens of light! There are people out there that are just as passionate about Lights as GPS & geocaching!!. They spend thousands of $$'s on lights. Surefire also makes LED heads to retrofit on lights and just introduced a L4 digital Lumamax model that puts out 65 lumens of light, about the same amount of light as a C2 (2 batteries compared to the C3 which takes 3 batteries). A mag light is nothing compared to the Surefires, which are marketed mainly to military and law enforcement. They are also marketed as non lethal self defense tools where you can temporarily blind someone with the light.
  17. I'm beginning to think the same thing! , no one wants a film camera anymore! BTW, this isn't 35 MM, it's an APS camera. I'll probably just end up keeping it. I've posted this on several for sale boards, and not much response anywhere, but the most has came from here!
  18. Trade value on both camera and gps unit/software is $500.
  19. Reasonable offers accepted. Looking for an etrex vista or something with more memory than my Etrex legend. I will also throw in my e-trex legend and Mapsource metroguide 4.02 CD's for the right trade. eg: 2 Garmin Rino 120's e-mail me with trade offers. Thanks, Brian bb_huber@hotmail.com [This message was edited by BBH on June 23, 2003 at 04:47 AM.]
  20. Here is an actual picture of the camera package. I will also consider trade for other units besides Rinos. I own an eTrex Legend, so would like a vista or other model with more memory. I would prefer Garmin since I own mapsource software to go with it. Will Sell everything outright for $350 shipped. [This message was edited by BBH on June 12, 2003 at 10:15 AM.]
  21. Deal fell through. Here is a picture of the camera. Note, the lense pictured is not the one I have. I have a 28-80 zoom with ultrasonic motor. Much better than the one in the picture.
