  1. I like everything i read about the PN-40 but have no experience with one. I have owned many Garmin Units, and have been happy with my Colorado. I've been considering an upgrade to the PN-40 but none locally to see first hand. I've also considered an Oregon 300. My Colorado has given me no problems, and almost always taken me to the cache.
  2. First off, what is cheap in your opinion? You can find a basic eTrex yellow pretty cheap ($50 or less) but I'm not sure if that's cheap or expensive. I'm guessing that since you're looking at a remanufactured PN-20, then $50 is cheap since the PN-20 runs more than that I assume. Not sure, but if the unit is Remanufactured by Delorme, then it should function as new and come with some sort of warranty, if not, I would stay away. I've always been a Garmin fan. I use a Colorado 300 and am very happy with it. I got it off of Craigs list for what I thought was cheap, but some probably wouldn't.
  3. I wold recommend looking on your local craigslist, or keeping an eye out here. I've found some great deals out there, you just have to look. I bought my Colorado for an outstanding price, as well as several other units. I travel for work and usually check out the local craigslist of where I will be traveling to see if I can find any good deals. I've bought 10 or so GPSr's this way, as well as several other items's such as TV's, computer equipment and so on. My local craigslist has the most GPSr's of the cities I travel to. Maybe it's because Garmin is located here. I think currently there are several yellow etrex, as well as a great deal on a legend for $60. That's where I'd start.
  4. One thing you didn't mention, how much money does the Newbie want to spend? My first GPSr was an Etrex legend when they first came out. Since, I've had numerous vehical and handheld models. I don't think you have to have a High sensitivy receiver. My first high sensitivity unit was a nuvi 350. I currently have a nuvi 780 and a Colorado 300. I just sold a Legenc Cx and I would let my 5yr old carry it GO$ing and it got the job done just as well as my CO. I like the CO, but I got it on Craigslist very cheap. Check there for some good deals. My Kansas City Craigs list currenly has a legend listed for $60.
  5. Disable the compass. Mine did the same thing.
  6. I've been seriously considering selling my Colorado and moving to the PN-40. My Colorado has served me well for what I use it for, but I'm a gotta have it guy. That is one of the reasons I hate forums, I get all worked up about problems that I would probably never even notice if I didn't read about them here.
  7. Unit is Sold, Please delete posting.
  8. Unit is still currently available. I re-read my first post, I will eat shipping costs on this one. Money order or paypal (with fees) gladly accepted. Thanks, Brian bb.huber@gmail.com
  9. This one is available again. It includes: GPSr Car adapter City Navigator NT DVD (allows you to have turn by turn directions) Windshield Mount 64mb microSD card 2gig microSD card (I have entire city navigator map ofCONUS, plus a lot of Kansas, Nebraska, & Iowa topo and inland Lakes). I will be happy to load any topo maps or inland lake maps on either card before I ship if you would like. Price is still $140 + actual shipping paypal is accepted ( I will need to collect actual fees)
  10. I have a Colorado 300. New to Geocaching, but have found all but 2 with it, and one was because of time and attire, and the other one may have been because it went missing, as I have confimed that it took me to the correct location. I've not had many problems with mine caching related, altough the barometer had problems, and I had to ge mine exchanged for a new one through Garmin.
  11. Wow! That's some hospitality if I've ever seen it. Ever think of helping a member out with a nice PM as opposed to being a _______ (feel free to insert what ever word you feel works
  12. All of the units liseted are well within reach of your price range. Out of all of them listed, I would recommend the 60CSX, though an Oregon 200 runs $449, which would give you paperless cacheing option.
  13. This one is withdrawn for now, will be my backup.
  14. I'm going to post this one last time, if no takers, I'll keep it as a back up. I would prefer to keep it as a package, since the city navigator is already unlocked to the unit. Still $140 shipped.
  15. I've used a yellow eTrex on a lake when lost, and wish I had a mapping unit. I would recommend buying a used unit on the for sale forums. The last new hand held I bought was an original legend, then I found forums. Check your local craigs list or here, for some good deals. I've seen a blue legend for $80 today here.
  16. This has not changed for me. I still need to adjust the backlight settings after every power on. Mine is the same way.
  17. I'm pretty sure you'd be OK with handhelds but I believe some automotive units do not display Lat/Lon. From my somewhat limited exerience, most GPSr's display lat/long readings. Usually on the satellite page. If you want to go to a certain lat/long cord, you should be able to input it as a waypoint.
  18. Unit is like new, not a scratch on it. This is the Navitagor pack with car mount, 12v power cord, 64mb card, and city navigator NT. Also includes data cable and wrist strap. Original box and all paperwork is included. $140 shipped in lower 48. Please e-mail me for pictures or to buy. Thanks, Brian
  19. Oops, I didn't realize that this was still connected to my old hotmail account. I got your message. Reply sent This one is gone. My deal fell through, and I decided to keep it as a back up. I have now decided to sell it. I will let it go for $80 shipped for everything. e-mail for pictures. thanks brian bb.huber@gmail.com
  20. I was also getting it before, but it hasn't happened with my new rma'd unit, and new software.
  21. Mine is working great on my replacement unit. It now seems to work as advertised.
  22. Amen brother!!! I'm with you on exactly those two issues. I'm writing a letter to Garmin to ask about those two on Monday. My Barometer also now works beautifully! Me happy. Wile your at it: 3) More user-friendly text entry Yeah, I keep going on about it every chance I get. The rotary phone style text wheel really bothers me. How else would you enter text other than how it's done?
