I am planning on getting an Explorist 600. I use a Macitosh computer. Not so much focusing on importing maps, but how can I use my Mac to import GPX files? Plase tell me in Laymen terms. I posted a similar question a while back, but the thread kind of went over my head. I know somene talked about GPS Bable.

I am wanting a Magellan Sportrak Pro Color. If you have one and are interested in selling it, contact me at: sdguy6904@yahoo.com. - Bob M. San Diego, CA.

I understand that the Explorist 600 has some type of Geocaching feature build into it. Can anyone explain what this is exactly?

It is good to hear that your daugther is doing better. WOW!, .31 each. You can't beat that. I will order 100. Already sent an email saying as such. The design looks GREAT!!! THANKS!!!!!
-
I will likely order 10 (depending on the price). Good Luck with this whole process.

- I would like see large fake rocks with a false bottom, big enough to place a smaller size ammo can under it. I know they already sell, fake rocks, but the container in the rock is kind of small. - I would also like to see micro size travel bug tags.

If Groundspeak really wants to increase membership, how about the idea that ALL new caches are members only the first 30 days? I know that being First To Find (FTF) is a big deal for many Geocachers. It might make more people want to pay for the membership.

I know that these Geocaching records are done in a team and that they always claim that the team stays together, but I still have a hard time actually believing those 24 caching records. Just do the math. To find 263 caches in a 24 hour period, you would have to average findinga cache every 5 mins and 40 seconds. I know the Jacksonville area is rather flat, but still 263 caches in 24 hours? - Are they actually opening up the cache container and writing in the log? - Are these caches that anyone in this team has found before?

OK, I really think the Explorist 600 is very cool. I currently a Sports Track Color GPS. I have managed to figure out a way to download waypoints into the unit using my Mac. I see the Explorist 600 has a USB connection. Does anyone know if their is software out there that will work between my Mac and this Explorist 600?

Just thought I would add my own two cents about version number 2 of the California Geocoin. - I like all the things that will be added and the colors. Though I see that the Giant Redwoods have not made it to the final design. I think they are important. It not the Redwoods, then maybe some mountain images of the Sierra's? - I think it is important to put tracking numbers on the Geocoin, but it is not worth paying the extra $ to get them tracked on Geocaching.com. Like others have said, many of the geocoins are just kept. Marky's tracking site it is just fine. And I do like the idea of putting the California Geocoin web site address on the Geocoin. - As for the priceing, I think pepole will be willing to pay a little more of a fancier coin. If the price is $4 or $5 tops, you should have little problem selling 1500 of these.

I saw this on Sign-On San Diego. My first thought, was it a Geocache? SIGNONSANDIEGO NEWS SERVICES 9:56 a.m. February 1, 2005 SAN DIEGO – Students and staff at Pacific Beach Middle School were evacuated today after a suspicious box was found in bushes on campus, San Diego police said. The box was discovered at 4676 Ingraham Street just before 9 a.m., police spokesperson David Cohen said. The police department's Arson Strike Team was sent to the school, Cohen said. Ingraham Street was closed to traffic between Diamond and Felspar streets, Cohen said. It was unclear when students and staff would be allowed back into the school, and when the streets would reopen, Cohen said.

Of all the cache containers I have and used for my hown caches, ammo cans seem to be the best. As they seem to hold up well to alos of weather conditions over a long period of time. Though, can an ammo can rust? I have an ammo can hidden near my home in San Diego for 16 months now. The ammo can looks to be in very good spape with no signs of rust. Though in San Diego, we don't get much rain and the temperatures tend be rather moderate most of the time (e.g., rarely drops below 50 and rarely gets above 85).

So has anyone ever used their iPod to store Geocaching informaiton? I would really like learn how to do this.
-
Does anyone know how I contact "Thomas Stromberg"? On the Geotoad web site, I could only see part of his email address. It started thomas@st...... I am sure he would know the true answer.
-
This Geotoad looks very interesting, but can I get it to display the cache page description and the hint? That is what I would be most interested in.
-
This might sound like a very stupid question, but is it possible to put GPX files (aka, Cache pages like on a Palm Pilot) on an iPod?

I recently saw that 3 Geocachers in the Jacksonville area found 246 caches in a 24 hour period to set the "all time cache record" in the end of November (2004). 246 caches found is very impressive. But when I see something like this, I ask myself, did the hole group stay together the hole time? Or did they split up? To me that makes a huge difference to the type of record they are claiming. If they stayed together as a group, they would have had to average finding a cache once every 5.8 minutes. That almost sounds inpossible to do.
-
So what's up with progress of the San Cruz County Geocon? Not much activity on this thread for the past month.

246 caches is very impressive. But did your hole group stay together the hole time? Or did you split up? If you stayed together as a group, you would have had to average finding a cache once every 5.8 minutes.

I am 99.9% positive that GC.com won't let you the Colorado Geocoin on their site. They have turned everyone down who has asked (e.g., California, Washington). I guess the figured that if they let one State do it, then it would be opening a huge can or worms. You best off with getting someone to set up your own tracking site. GOOD LUCK! p.s., I agree that "State" should be dropped from the design.

Just testing like everyone before me.

I was wondering in the Palm Zire 21 or 31 is any good for paperlesss caching? It seems that the Zire 21 might fit my needs. It has 8 MB of storage. It has a a USB connection. And it is compatible on a Mac. It sells for $99 in retails stores or on the web. And on eBay you could probably pick one up for about $60 to $70. So does anyone have any experiece using Zire 21 for paperless caching?

KV Coins seem to do a nice job. Is this the company that minted the Washington State Geocoin?
