  1. I want to create a game where someone has to do certain things in the correct order, in the given time. Right now I'm coding if they do it wrong, and I have it sending them back to the centre to start again, but i need to reset the timer (I am using a countdown timer) I have it stopping the timer when they do something wrong, if I start it again will it reset or will it continue where it stopped?
  2. Hi I have had a similar error, but only with certain cachers trying to download it. I logged into my account my moms and dads and they all downloaded it perfect, but when I logged into an account I created for school it gives the error. Weird that not everyone gets the error eh! here is the error msg i got: Server Error in '/' Application. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Index was outside the bounds of the array. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. 3. ok fixed that, i should have put buildervar.DiceValue.Data instead of the math.random(6), it was just picking a new value to add to the square, instead of the same one that the dice already generated
  4. so i played around some more with the if statements and added one for each of the first 6 squares to see if its working, so i have a start square (which isnt square one) and when the player enters that the space number is set to 0, then when the dice is rolled the space number is incrimented by math.random(6), and then i set 6 if then statements, eg if space value = 1 set zone 1 to visible and active. this all works, but the space that is set to active and visible is one higher than what the dice is rolled, so i have no idea what is going on.
  5. wow i cant believe how helpful you are! it really is making building this cartridge much more fun, usually i read your comment and go... what, then with a little figuring i can make it work. so what i did was used a mock example to see if it would work. first i had that when player enters zone 1 set variable 'Space Number' to 1. then when roll occurs increment Space Number by 3. Then if Space Number equals 3 set zone 15 to visible and active (i know i know 1+3 doesnt = 15 ) so will i have to do for each sqaure and if statement for each of the 6 values it could be from the roll? or is there a get function that can get the variable for me?
  6. ok so i am trying to add the media, and I was trying to copy the other if statement. so i found this code: function zitemDice:OnRollDice() -- #GroupDescription=Roll that dice -- -- #Comment=Roll that dice Comment -- buildervar.DiceValue.Data = tostring(math.random(6)) Wherigo.MessageBox{Text=[[You rolled ]]..buildervar.DiceValue.Data,} end and then the code for my correct answer is like this: function zinputQuestion1:OnGetInput(input) Question1Answer = input -- #GroupDescription=Script -- -- #Comment=Script Comment -- if Wherigo.NoCaseEquals(Question1Answer,"David Ulmer") then Wherigo.MessageBox{Text=[[Congrats that is correct, you advance to space 4.]],Buttons={"Continue",},Callback=carttest.MsgBoxCBFuncs.MsgBoxCB1} zone4.Visible = true zone4.Active = true zone1.Visible = false zone1.Active = false else Wherigo.MessageBox{Text=[[sorry that is incorrect, you must remain on this space until your next turn]],Buttons={"Ok",},Callback=carttest.MsgBoxCBFuncs.MsgBoxCB2} end so i thought that if i added this line: if Wherigo.NoCaseEquals(Question1Answer,"David Ulmer") then like this: if Wherigo.NoCaseEquals(buildervar.DiceValue.Data,"1") then but the program doesnt seem to like that?
  7. ok so with a little farting around with the code I sucessfully put the dice into my game, now i need to be able to get the value that the dice rolled and add it to the square that the player is on.
  8. Great! I created the lua file and it worked perfectly. So now how do I incorporate it into the cartridge I have already started? Also is there a spot in the code to assign media to each different roll, I noticed that was done in the slides and ladders one.
  9. Hi thanks for your responses. What I want to create is a Wherigo based around a board game style game. I have zones mapped out for the squares of the board. I do have a little programming knowledge, at school I've done a little java, php, html, flash. not sure if lua is like any of those. Making this Wherigo is actually the final project I chose for my computers class at school, so I dont mind doing some raw coding, is there a tutorial for it? So what I would like to happen is when the player rolls the dice a number is generated. Then I can call that number to add to the numbered space they are on to activate the proper zones for them to travel to next. There will be tasks or questions at the squares that determine if the player moves backwards or forwards, so if they get the question right, they move forwards, if they get it wrong they move backwards.
  10. I would like to create a dice in my game, and wonder how I would go about creating an event that randomly chooses the value of the dice roll, I know its been done in other games, but I'm just starting with the whole Wherigo building! Thanks for you time!
  11. I placed two local (well close enough to local) TBs that were brand new in a cache at york university. I dropped them in like I do everyother TB with my found log, and went to look at the TBs page to see how far I moved them, and it doesn't add any miles to their page. Anyone know why this is?
  12. my albertosaurus coin came in the mail today, confused my dad a little, wondering why we were getting mail from alberta!!! thanks so much, its really neat!
  13. I found out about caching while i was doing another organized scavenger hunt, we found a cache at one of the locations, but it was a black round container that said do not remove, so we didnt touch it. After we were back at the organizers house tallying points we were talking about the day and someone said o it must be a geocache. It sounded really interesting but by that night i forgot all about it. A few weeks later, a friend on facebook posted a photo album called geocaching, so i decided i must inquire, i sent a message to her asking about it and she said it was their first time and gave me the website. I created an account and was so pumped to find one that i went on my spare at school and looked for one without a gps, i had about 2 hours between spare and lunch and decided i wouldnt leave until i found it. I was armed with a map and the clue that it was in a stump (which turns out the stump is no longer a stump) i knew it was between two rivers a mill and a construction site, it was a pretty big area to search but i found it after about 30mins! I didnt know much about geotrails so i searched some unlikely spots in thick bush (the cache was pretty old!) The rest is history, a little over a year later and 725 finds!!! What can i say im hooked, i purchased my first gps a few days after that, and now im on my third unit!!!
  14. Flashlights are not alwasy for survival purposes, cachers generally bring them to look in hide-y holes that you dont want to stick you hand in!!
  15. i was wondering if youd post a pic of jasper!!
  16. wow nice coins, so are they all for the christmas contest? or for both contests?
  17. This GPS was won from Kingston's KROCK "Don't Rock the Boat" Event. I have tested this product on two occasions and it works perfectly, but as I already have 3 other GPSr's this one is not needed. It comes with everything included in the original package, and the original box. It is a discontinued product, so you can no longer get it in stores, but it is avaliable on various internet sources, for a price of around $190!!! Here is a link to the official Garmin specs https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=143#specsTab Asking $125 OBO (+ shipping) Thanks for looking!! (btw shipping is from Kingston, Ontario, Canada)

  21. Hey all geocoin fans, im in search of a geocoin to attach to a dog's collar, i know of three different ones, geodog geocoin, gone to the dogs geocoin and lemon fresh geobone, but none are for sale anymore. If anyone knows of a non-breed specific coin for sale on a site, or a private sale (if breed specific it is a jack russell terrier) Thanks, mm_dancer
  22. I started with the garmin legend, and yes i agree that if you dont want to be entering all your coords manually (unless you have other programs to do it with) the garmin would be best as it is the geocaching.com brand. The legend i think is a little better than the yellow etrex because it does have the mapping feature but i guess if you have a car GPS thats not a huge deal to you. I used my legend for my first 6 months of caching and my mom used it for the next 8 months and its still in great shape, we just sold it the other day to another set of cachers. Hope you find the one you like! mm_daancer
