  1. AH...SUCCESS. metalmike happened to have a 64Mb micro card with his nextel phone...formatted that, stuck it in the card slot, loaded maps...and they actually loaded. YAY!
  2. Open the battery cover...there should be a sticker with a 9-digit number in there.
  3. I've tried all of the above, including trying to use our card reader to do it, so I'm going to purchase a new card to see if that indeed is the issue. Thanks for all the suggestions!
  4. Hi all, I recently purchased/received a Garmin GPSMAP 60 Csx and City Navigator 2008. I've registered the unit on the Garmin website, installed MapSource and Trip and Waypoints Manager v4, and installed and unlocked City Navigator 2008 on our HP Compaq computer running Windows XP. The unit came with a 128 Mb micro card. I have selected 60 Mb worth of maps to download to the Garmin. It appears as if the download is successful, watched the status bars and got the 'download complete" box. However, when I go to the unit, there are no new maps and no new information on the micro card. The Mapsource version that came with the unit was 6.12.4 and based on some of the research I've done on this board, I've upgraded it to the most recent. Still nothing. I tried installing it on my Dell Latitude laptop also running Windows XP just to run into the same problems. I've uninstalled and reinstalled all the software, again to no avail. I e-mailed Garmin tech support and got a reply of "have you unlocked City Navigator" to which I replied yes and also provided the unit S/N number. That was a couple of days ago and I haven't gotten another reply. My next step was to call Garmin support today, just to find out that they do not have weekend hours. Thus I turn to you, the knowledgeable users to see if anyone can help me out. Thanks in advance!!
  5. I wanted to try to stay under $200. Color isn't a must but I'm thinking maps should be. Thanks, Boxerheath
  6. Hello All, I'm a newbie here. When a co-worker introduced my to geo-caching, I immediately asked my husband to get me a GPS unit for my birthday (in October). Unfortunately I hadn't done my homework yet and did not specify what kind of unit was needed/preferred. So, he got me a TomTom One XL. I love it as a car GPS unit and it gets us close to our destination for geocaching, but I think I'd like to get a Garmin unit that I can use once we get out of the car. The accuracy of the TomTom just doesn't cut it when getting close to GZ. Based on experience, can anyone recommend a Garmin unit that will do what the TomTom does not. Thanks, Boxerheath
