  1. Hi again I'm willing to accept £20 +postage, If this does not sell will be advertising on a well known auction site beginning with 'E'
  2. PALM M505/M515 ORGANISORS Hi again, I have 4 of these organisors, (but only 1 charger/sync lead, these can be purchased thro ebay), when I started caching I used Spinner/Plucker to enable paperless caching. These units are still usable but you will have to snc with your computer and reload plucker. Offers circa £30 + postage/packing (about £5) (That's for all 4 units + software/manuals, you may have to download the updated software for your windows from Palm) I now use c:geo on my android tablet. GARMIN DASH MOUNT Also have a car dash mount for a Etrex (complete with back plate), you will need to purchase sticky pads for fixing (rear mirror pads) Looking for around £8 + postage, for this.
  3. LOWRANCE iFINDER GO2 Hi I bought this (second hand)gps a couple of years ago to compliment my maggellan and garmin units. The idea being that I could loan it to potential new users. The unit was never used by myself and therefore is surplus to requirements. It would make a good starter unit for a beginner, it has basic mapping function showing rivers, main roads and locations. I have just tested it and it picks up the satelites ok. Manual is available for download on internet. As this is a fairly basic model I'm looking for offers around £30 plus £5 postage although if you live in Surrey (Woking) you can collect free.
  4. Hey Guys I have a couple of items that may be of interest to someone starting out. Firstly I have a 'LOWRANCE ifinder GO2' gps, in good working order, I can provide a manual on memory card or cd. The Lowrance has basic mapping showing local towns, major roads and features, is able to lock onto sattelites quickly, even indoors (something my Etrex struggles with) Used this a few times but still prefer my Etrex 'Summit' and my Maggy 'Explorist 200'. Secondly I have a Palm M505 organisor, when this is teamed up with 'plucker' (not currently installed but available through geocaching.com) it makes paper caching obsolete, (just think of carrying hundreds of cache listings in a unit that fits in your top pocket). This comes with USB docking station and software, (you can download recent drivers for vista and '7'). I still use one for my listings. Offers around £50 + postage will be considered, cash, cheque or paypal, cheques will require clearing times.
  5. Hi I'm in Woking (land of HG Wells Martians) , I am willing to adopt a newbie, and even have a spare gps they can borrow/buy. I've been unable to cache for a while due to health/work but now need incentive to get out there and get my finds numbers up. So if you guys out there want to swap notes, or an intro to this great sport, I'm here to help.
  6. I also have a Extech cordless flexible video inspection camera (boroscope) which I've used to find a couple of lost caches, Recently bought me a boroscope after a friend stuck his hand under a log and got bit by a snake (not venemous) but still ruined his whole day and had to take a week off work. Now if its under logs or in bramble we use the scope to check that its not got any 'friends' with it. Some cache hiders have been devious in wrapping the box in fur, now if you feel fur in the hole what would be your reaction?
  7. Hi I have just found that my cheap CNM Netbook runs 'Plucker' files ok. So now I can use this instead of my Palm PDA. Maplins has jus recently started stocking a netbook with GPRS on it utilizing the mobile network to connect onto.
  8. Thanks to all, One prob I seem to be getting is the prog does not seem able to recognize my usb port, although the computer knows I've plugged something in. The program is looking fo a serial port input and I can't see a way to change the port settings. Mo

  14. Hi Im looking for the softeware I need to use my PDA on XP. It worked before but sice I went to pro it's not seeing the unit. Any ideas where I can get upto date software. Thanks Mo
  15. Did you check out all the nooks and crannies for the cache?
  16. Nothing so 'exciting' here, all our muggles wear clothes.
  17. You mean like 'upsetting his normally docile cows into stampeding'?
  18. The main point is that we are using the farmers land. Livestock is a main part of the farmers business and he uses 'his' land for this purpose. Footpaths across his land are to be used responcibly and consideration should be made for his livestock. The landholder reserves the right to withold access if he sees fit, but in doing so he must notify the authorities. Most farmers encourage public to use the rights of way, so long as we stick to 'The Country Code'. At the time of birthing, livestock are liable to be more protective of thier young, but if you don't bother them they are unlikely to become concerned about you. Cows are curious about people and will approach if encouraged. Sheep are the opposite and tend to scatter, unless you are known to them. If there was no public footpath/bridleway then you are trespassing. If the road was blocked would it be acceptable for the public to traipse thro you living room as alternative access?
  19. Now there's a point I missed - she was a vet. Vets no matter what size animals they treat are aware of the unpredictability of behaviour. When I'm out caching and I have to cross a field with animals (sheep, cows, pigs and even ostrich here in my home counties) I always try to walk quietly around the edge away from them. What bothers me are time when you get the farmer standing at the edge of the feild with a half-cocked shotgun under his arm, watching me, not that I've had the pleasure of getting my backside peppered yet.
  20. Don't cross the field unless you can do it under 20 seconds, our bull can do it in 21 seconds. I believe that the old myth that red annoys bulls is just that - a myth. Cows and Bulls are colour blind. - Now to find some idiot to test that theory.
  21. For the most of us 'casual' cachers, geocaching.com does an execellant job, obviously there will be someone out there with a problem or gripe that can't be ignored.
  22. The main problem that I can see is that if we are all playing 'the game' by different rules - how can the game evolve or even exist. Different sites will mean different ideas/methods/ideals. Does this mean that we'd all have to pay subscription to each and every site? I've looked at other sites and come to the conclusion 'better tis the devil you know' - i'm sticking with what I started with.
  23. I use Firefox on my notebook, I had a major system crash on my desktop and a friend gave me a hard drive with linux preinstalled. Problem was a lot of my software wouldn't run on Linux, so a week ago I swallowed my pride and reinstalled XP. I'm not happy about this but I have some expensive music editing software that I use.
