  1. That's a good point. This question comes up so frequently on the boards it's clear that a lot of people aren't aware of it. And no wonder, since Garmin doesn't see fit to even mention it in the manual! I thought they did, but can't find any mention of it now. just last night i was in the city with nearly-full batteries and took it off power saver and it went right down to an accuracy of 13 or 14. mostly 14 (which makes sense seeing it's the minimum). so i guess battery saver is pretty much "suckage mode" lol on a side-note, i installed city navigator on it (because i can lol) so now i got 2 driving gpss lol
  2. battery save mode has that big of an effect? ya know what. that might be it. casue somet time during the night when t said i had low batteries, i had set it to that. i'll try it again with it off and also with it pointed upwards and see if those 2 things combines makes it work better. thanks guys.
  3. there's the funny thing. his firmware hasn't been update in years and i've updated recently... unless the chipset is different than the firmware..
  4. here's what i meant... you know how there's a part of the menu where it says "Accuracy" ? his etrex was always far more accurate than mine.. mine mostly fluttered from 50-80 while his was pretty consistantly in the 20-30 range. occasionally we both had about 28 or so at the same time but his was usually much lower than mine.
  5. how do i check that? it may have been the batteries.. they were pretty low. but his etrex was pretty low too so shouldn't his have been screwy too?
  6. me and my friend went out caching last night. i took my new 60csx and he brought his old etrex.. i think it's a etrex camo. anyways. his was being way more accurate than mine. his is many years old so why is my newer one being so lame? i thought it was supposed to have a "high density receiver" or something?
  7. i do believe you can. my friend has one 1 step lower than mine (530?) and we take his caching..... i'm just getting the 60csx because it's waterproof and can probably handle and accidental fall MUCH better than the street pilot..... and i'm getting the street pilot because i want to hear the "turn right... ding" instead of just ".......boop."
  8. Garmin StreetPilot c550 and Garmin GPS 60csx i got them autobid on ebay for 150 and 250 respectively. the streetpilot has less than 23 hours left and the 60csx has almost 4 days on it.. what are the odds of winning? and do you think i made good choices in gps? (regarding quality and price)
  9. he's been unresponsive and i won the bid like.. 12 hours ago? i just hope he sees my messages soon and stops the bid because the thing says "shipping..."
  10. i must be retarded... i just bought a garmin zumo 550..... i feel sick now. i like how the car ones talk to you but i wanted something waterproof for outside... and i noticed the motorcycle ones were waterproof and well.. the 550 talked while the others didnt' and..... i hate myself. it probably woulda been cheaper to get both a street pilot and a 60c... edit: i'm gonna try to cancel it... i'm not used to ebay, i was unaware i was obligated to buy it before i even reached the paypal page... worst case scenario, i got a shiney gps??
  11. The Colorado 300 and 400t both look appealing to me but the Street Pilot 530 is much cheaper. Colorado mainly offroads... StreetPilot mainly city driving... however, the colorado has a city navigator and the street pilot can go offroad. i dunno what to do... on ebay i can get a colorado for 500 and a street pilot for 200 but the colorado is waterproof and i'm sure it can be handled being drop much better than a street pilot i just dunno what to do.. bleehh
