  1. While caching yesterday, went to a specific cache to pick a TB. When we found and opened the cache, the TB was gone, but there was a note in the cache log book "keeping bug, too cool to give up, sorry" There was also a crude picture drawn in the log. The cache page is GCHRPT and the picture of the log book entry is here. I really hope this isn't a new trend. I will say that I emailed the cache owner because I thought this cache was too close to alien town (300' into a mile long trail) when there were plenty of other good hiding spots further along... oh well, just venting I guess. I had a TB get picked up from its first spot and was never seen again.. The Glow Bug..
  2. You might want to try Purple Open Projects located in Murphy Oregon, makes a wide range of custom cables for Garmin products at a reasonable price. (no, I don't work there) supermoe "Patriotism is not a short and frenzied outburst of emotion but the tranquil and steady dedication of a lifetime." -Adlai E. Stevenson, Jr.
  3. Thanks, I am headed out there in the morning to put it back in the original spot. I'll put the note in it. Thanks for your help! Supermoe "Patriotism is not a short and frenzied outburst of emotion but the tranquil and steady dedication of a lifetime." -Adlai E. Stevenson, Jr.
  4. He was in Oregon recently too. Ripped the lid off a 5.56mm ammo can, took all the contents and the lid. Then tossed the can into the woods about 75 feet from the original location. Do we have a serial cache killer on the loose? Picture of the Diaster I have also noticed this was a week ago and the cache has not been archived..... supermoe "Patriotism is not a short and frenzied outburst of emotion but the tranquil and steady dedication of a lifetime." -Adlai E. 5. One of the first caches I put in was moved by someone and was not logged that it was done. The cache is under a foot bridge over a creek and whoever moved it from one end to the other. Now the seekers coordinates are off (not by much but off). I put a lot of time and thought into my cache to have a finder move it within the first couple of finds and then not have the courtesy to tell me. I have also noticed that a few of the caches I have been to lately have logs that say things like "I moved it a further back into the bushes/woods/foliage to make it harder to find". Why am I going through the trouble of making sure my coordinates are right on only to have some one move the cache or move one to make it harder on me to find? is this a common problem cache owners? 7. From the Guide to Finding Your First Cache Geocache Guide quote:Step 4 – The Find Huzzah! You found the cache! Congratulations! Now what? Usually you take an item and leave an item, and enter your name and experience you had into the log book. Some people prefer to just enter their name into the log book. It’s an accomplishment enough to locate the cache. You play the game your way and I'll play it mine. The 'rules' of the game make it fun for all of us, even when we choose to trade or not to trade. supermoe "Patriotism is not a short and frenzied outburst of emotion but the tranquil and steady dedication of a lifetime." -Adlai E. 8. I thought it was cool too. I wanted to have GC1 in my find log... that would have been great... supermoe
  9. quote: The part of a cache page that says "Logged Visits (XX Total)" just before the finders logs will give you this info. How many pages did I look at and never saw that! Yikes! I need to go get some sleep. Thanks for pointing that out Chris. supermoe
  10. Has anyone thought of asking Jeremy to put on the bottom of the page instead of "there are mor logs to view....." "This cache has had xx logs?" supermoe "Patriotism is not a short and frenzied outburst of emotion but the tranquil and steady dedication of a lifetime." -Adlai E. Stevenson, Jr.
  11. When I download my track into MapSource (GPS V is what I have) I can look at the track log and compare to the map and see when I started and where. I can also see my track to see where it is I put the GPS V back in the backpack and started hunting for real. I also can then run the ruler over the track line and measure the distance fairly accurately, even if I lost lock and the track line 'takes a shortcut' supermoe "Patriotism is not a short and frenzied outburst of emotion but the tranquil and steady dedication of a lifetime." -Adlai E. 12. Thanks TotemLake, worked like a charm
  13. Testing my avatar. I logged off the site and back on, let's see if this works.
  14. Started out with a etrex yellow. Spousal unit shared until I got a Legend. She got to use a friends Sport Trak Map and loved it so I bought her one of those. Then a friend at work decided he didn't like his GPS V, so I took it off his hands! The V is a serious upgrade to the legend and I can never go back. I have the mount in the car for the 120 round trip commute each day and then I pop it out to cache. Software: NGS Topo! Oregon MapSource Topo Garmin CitySelect Street Atlas 2003 supermoe
  15. A friend found a geocoin yesterday., On it has a geocache marked GC1, a search turned up no such cache. THis got me thinking, hwat/where is/was the first cache (besides the famous one posted on usenet)?? Thanks, Alan
  16. When I was in Basic Training for the Army, one of my drill sergeants did not have english as his first language. He had great difficulty pronouncing my name and shortened it to Private Moe. I responded with "knuk knuk knuk why certainly" and Privat Moe I was! A few weeks later I shot 39 of 40 of the Basic Riflmans Test (best in the company) and he called me 'super' and the next time he spoke to me he called me Private SuperMoe. I hav eused that nick ever since.
