  1. First, the term "nudist colony" is incorrect. They aren't colonies, they're clubs. The American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR) lists the associated clubs on their website. I'm a member of and the webmaster for LARC, which is an AANR club. You can do a virtual tour of our grounds and events in our photo album. Because a nudist club has to control visitors, they probably are not an appropriate place to place a cache. The Naturist Society publishes Lee Baxandall’s World Guide to Nude Beaches and Resorts, a book which is a source of information about nude beaches and locations. Most of these are on public lands and there are already a number of caches at or near some of them. A cache near Vancouver BC, that I have been to, is at Wreck Beach. The Wreck Beach Preservation Society claims that Wreck Beach has 100,000 visitors per year and there can be a thousand mostly naked people on the beach on nice days. The discussions about Nudecacher in the topics here which speculate that nettles, barbed wire, poison ivy, etc. are a bigger hazard for naked cachers than clothed ones are incorrect. From my experience, there is no difference. The intimidation of being nude shouldn't make the cache any harder to find. The difficulty ratings shouldn't be affected by a clothing optional or nude location. Nudecacher "Wear a smile, ... only a smile."

  3. I had to remove 'The Lilies of the Field' cache (GCJHZC) and post a note making it unavailable because I found out that the location is being commercially logged this summer. Thanks to a note by a cacher, I was touched off to the problem and was able to retrieve the cache and post it as temporarily unavailable. The cache can be replaced and activated after the logging is completed. If I find out how long that will take and post a note so stating in the next week, is it possible to prevent the cache from being permanently archived before it can be replaced? The cache with a difficulty of 4/3 had the FTF posted and I've heard from several other cachers who have been working on finding it including a delightful tale about a search by a cacher who met a bear but didn't want to post the DNF to discourage others from trying. Several stated that they want to try again after not finding it the first time. We have very few difficult caches in our area and I think that it is a definite asset. Besides, the cache is somewhat of a signature cache for Nudecacher. Does anyone have any ideas about how I should handle the cache? Nudecacher
  4. Just curious who's taking your picture at all the caches? Humm... . Varies, in the last batch my grown daughter was the photographer, various other people who were with me at other times took others, and a bunch I took myself with the timer and remote control on my camera. Creating Nudecacher has added a lot of fun to geocaching. I'm the webmaster for the nudist club that we belong to and there are a lot of pictures from club events in the photo album there, so we are used to taking pictures. You can follow the link from my profile. We're going to be at the club this weekend, and I could arrange free passes for first time nudists if anyone is interested. Just ask at the office. Nudecacher
  5. We had a good time. My daughter took the picture. Her logs are in the caches next to mine. They participate in non-sexual social nudity at the Lake Associates Recreation Club with us occasionally. The club is a clothing optional campground where people enjoy nude recreation. LARC is a friendly, family oriented club, where good behavior is enforced with published policies. You can find the website link in my profile. Nudists represent an cross-section of society and studies have shown that there is nothing distinctive about them other than their participating in social nudity. Nudecacher
  6. Well, that's me in the picture all right, but I wasn't in Virginia this past weekend. I just got back from Redmond where I was celebrating my birthday caching there, GCBB79, GCH71K, GC6B30, and GCH9NB, amongst others. Also, I'm not all that good on the guitar, but I am pretty harmless. Nudecacher (profile)
  7. I had great fun working on Cryptonomicon by -=(GEO)=-, but it's 75 miles away and I haven't been able to search for the cache yet. I'm hoping to next week. I had so much fun working on it that I've setup a Pocket Query to identify more. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a consistent way to search for them, some are labeled as 'Unknown (Mystery) Cache' but just as many are marked as 'Traditional Cache'. I'm using GSAK to sort through 1300 caches so far. Most don't seem to be placed in nude friendly places, but it's hard to tell until one actually gets there. Nudecacher
  8. That's my view exactly. Why buy into textile bondage at all? Nudecacher
  9. Well, there are lots of games here. The discussion above is limited to a very stereotyped view of the geocaching game. Nudecacher particularly notices this. The activity of signing the physical log and posting the digital log both may have aspects that have nothing to do with the standard stereotype. Nudecachers game has a much more complex set of criteria applying to each part of the geocaching event. There are issues in selecting which caches will be searched for, how they will be searched for, which foundand how found, which logged and how logged or whether logged at all, what will be revealed in the logs, how pictures taken on the caching trip turn out, what is revealed in discussions, how caching events are handled and much more. Further issues arise depending on whether I am caching alone, or with others, and who I am caching with. The log entry may reflect this. Some caches that I choose to log get only a TNLNSL for many different reasons, just as other types of log entries are made for many different reasons. As nudecacher, I also have to consider how the owner of the cache might respond to the log. Frequently this affects how I log.
  10. I'm sure this has been discussed ad nauseum, but I can't seem to find it. Is it possible to place a link to a web page in the cache log entry? If so, how? I didn't see any markup instructions on the page where log entries are created and couldn't find it discussed in the FAQ or elsewhere.
  11. For what it's worth, so you can join me or avoid me, here they are.
  12. My first cache find, Fossil Rocks, was archived shortly after I posted the log. The careful scrutiny of the picture with it caused TPTB to notice that it was right beside an active railroad track. I helped retrieve the archived cache, but all the early pictures that I logged were removed. The cache being on the trail to a traditional nude beach was what got me looking into geocaching and creating my nudecacher account. I still stop at the location when I go by it.
  13. I've liked my name since I started almost a year ago now, but I've been toying with capitalizing the N. Cachers seem to remember me by the name.
  14. Nope, it wasn't me, I just got back from Portland late this evening. Thanks for the warning, I'll check out the county and local ordinances. Laws vary, but most apply to adult entertainment or lewd behavior. There's no state law against simple nudity. Oh, and you're right, I'm a bit over 33.
  15. I've met more muggles while caching than other cachers. Most are pleasant and even appear amused. One runner passed me while setting up for a picture. A few minutes later he came back. His curiosity got to him and he had to ask what I was doing. You think you have trouble explaining geocaching! He was quite amused. I happened to be dressed the few times that I've met other cachers. At the caching events that I have attended (always clothed because of the venues), I've felt accepted and get something of a ribbing. People have been far more supportive than I might have expected. Caching has been a lot more fun because of the Nudecacher persona.
  16. This sounds like fun and the map looks like it shows an area that would be good for nude caching. But I'm afraid that I can't make it this time. Maybe next time.
  17. Does it indicate that the cacher is Nudecacher? Some cachers would like the warning, but I haven't met other cachers yet who weren't caching with me when I was nudecaching. I don't seem to dream about wardrobe issues.
  18. Here I am. Welcome aboard. "Wear a Smile, Nothing Else."
  19. Here's the only cache found using the word 'sublime' as a keyword, but I don't know if I'd use that criteria. GCA0F8 At a sublime point by GarenKreiz and family http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...d6-8995de3862c3
  20. When seeking a cache by keyword, the order that the results are listed in is not helpful. One has to scan through a long list of caches randomly located all over to find one that might be close enough to actually go to. I find this to be a problem when looking for appropriate caches in which to place Travel Bugs that have current goals. Sorting by and listing the distance from my home coordinates or being able to select the sort order would be helpful. Other types of search work this way.
  21. 'The 1200 mile Pacific Northwest Trail (PNT), running from the Continental Divide to the Pacific Ocean, ranks among the most scenic trails in the world.' at http://www.pnt.org/ . My 'Little Baldy' cache at GCGE5R is just off a local segment of it.
