Sadly Nanaimo is lacking decently price hotels that are decent to stay at. IMHO. My suggestion is to check out some of the B&B's or camp grounds. If your looking for hotel the Days Inn, Howard Johnson, or Ramada, would be your best bet.

Working now DL Gpx with the card in the 650 and it works now. Before I was DLing file on to card then installing card into GPS wouldn't think that should make a difference but in this case it seemed to. All is well thanks for the help. Cache needs to be within 100 miles before it shows up in the menu but it is there on the map if you scroll to it. That is annoying when your planning a trip but just a small pain. Anyone having issue's putting caches onto micro sdcards? I just got a Oregon 650 loaded my maps onto micro and a gpx file created from gsak. The maps show up on the Oregon but no caches. Not working in my old 550 either not sure what I am doing wrong. Made a gpx folder put file in folder and out of folder nothing. Any suggestions?

I am also a cacher who could not find the ammo can yesterday didn't think it should have been to difficult. Up here north of the border there are some pretty hard caches to find in the deep bush mircos and nano's hidden in rock piles and we have managed to find some of them. Ammo can at the original stash with in 20 feet no problems. I think possibly it should be turned into a cache catagory of it's own or something where you can log it if you have pictures or if you sign the log book (if it gets replaced). I came from a long ways as well (300 miles) but I will be back again we love it down there and I still need HQ to finish of the triad. I can see the point of people who come from alot farther away maybe from overseas I would be very upset if I couldn't log it because someone stole it.

Wondering which is better for the Garmin Oregon 550 and better in general US Topo 100k or US Topo 24k? Do they both have 3D info required for the Oregon? Which is the more accurate map?
