  6. Very sad news - go well sir - you were a gentleman and an inspiration to many of us cachers. So glad to have met you - richer for that - and prayers and thoughts with those you have left behind.

  8. Another Gauteng cache just out: Highland Diamictite
  9. That doesn't only happen in Zim

  11. Lovely story! Congrats and many many happy years together for you......
  12. Good luck in getting someone to take them over. I think this is a positive and pro active stance on your behalf. Many cachers just stop caching - or move away - and time slowly erodes their cache base - and "Needs Maintenance" logs go un-answered - and some great caches finally get archived.
  13. Gauteng are now in the mic. Ventersdorp Lava
  14. Limpopo in now: Pebble Boulders
  15. Wherigo 10.5 FPs/cache Letterbox 5.8 FPs/cache EarthCache 4.6 FPs/cache Virtual 4.3 FPs/cache Multi 3.4 FPs/cache Mystery 3.2 FPs/cache Traditional 1.5 FPs/cache Interesting - Wherigo is so "enjoyable" - yet there are so few of them - and we tend to not do them that easily as cachers! Strange anomoly. I guess itis "fear of the unknown"? Great to see a new WhereI go popped up in Kzn this past week.
  16. Free State joining the party - and a second to Suikerbossies Cliffs of Gold
  17. And Northern Cape is now in: Hakskeen Pan
  18. Mpumalanga takes the early lead: Devil's Knuckles
  19. What about Favourite points to Cache type corrleation? I am going to hazard a guess (hypothesise) that Earthcache type gets more FPs per find in general?
  20. Competition - prize giveaway!!!!! Just because it's the 10th Anniversary of Earthcaching in South Africa - and we are approaching 300 active caches in South Africa - I will be giving a random owner of a new earthcache a prize (probably an unactivated geocoin/TB) for any new cache submitted in August, September & October. This will be for any cache owned by a RESIDENT of one of South Africa or her neighbours (Nam, Bots, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique, Swaziland). So come along. Get the new earthcaches going! Please share this on all the FaceBook pages and I look forward to the results.
  21. We stayed in Abu D for a few years. Some real fun caches there - not a huge amount compared to most areas -but a great bunch of guys. My suggestion - host an event (or attend an event) as soon as possible. ] Get a way to get access to a 4x4 so you can get into the desert - as most of the best caches are not park and grabs Don't go to the desert alone (2 cars m,inimum) Make sure you get to some of the more remote areas (like Ruwais. al Ain, Hatta and especially into Oman - you do not need a visa to cross at Al Ain) Don't worry too much about the Dubai city caches - the remote ones are far more fun EXPLORE!!!!!!!!!!! Find the caches with favourite points Looks for other caches by people you enjoy (some great ones in Abu Dhabi near Yas track - Camel master and bestvue are also good as are..... +++++) Try Earthcaches Be careful about photos of governmetn buildings (learn the cultural aspects from a local expereinced cacher) Have a blast - and have fun Beware of the heat! Take Water, remmeber petrol stations are few and far between out of town
  22. Not sure if you're joking... but here goes... Nope - serious!!!! Well one learns something every day. I also have no Premium only caches. I always felt that SA is not such a major caching destination - so I'd like as many cachers as possible to find and enjoy my caches. Personal preference... Thanks for your feedback - interesting to know.
  23. ?? I dont knwo about this feature?? Can someone elaborate please. Thanks
  24. HAPPY 10TH BIRTHDAY - EARTHCACHING IN SOUTH AFRICA!!!!!!!
