  1. I would say to offer a paper version of the magazine as well. The PDF's are great, but not for those of use with dial ups. At least offering a print version which may cost us a little plus the postage might be worth it. What will the ties to Geocaching.com be though? Is it going to be the same stuff we already read on the forums?
  2. Bu+t El Diablo, I can always set you up a private forum.
  3. Good post CR! As you stated (in resemblance to letterboxing) and another or two stated about alternatives...I think there needs to be an arbitrary list of places to get clues to caches. If folks will send me email addresses of places that list caches, i will post them on my site. I agree, alternatives are as good as what you make them. Are you more in favor of a website or more in favor of reaching as many potential finders of your caches? Please sned me those website addresses!
  4. I think we can beg and plead all we want, but I don't think it's going to happen. I think it's obvious like when they removed the img tags from the sig lines. Reason, Jeremy stated they were receiving numerous complaints from people about them and the time it takes to load a page. Of course we discussed it here in the forums and I think it was said that it was by people who don't post in the forums and there were some other discussion about people won't post in the forums, but I can't remember exactly on what topic that was about. I believe it was on the heavy censor...er moderation. The excuse that was used of slow downloand tiem, well all that happened right before the forums went down and they had to get another server. Obviously it was different problem than stated. Of course there was speculation of the real reason, but that's something else. I don't think an off topic forum is going to happen here. At the most i would see him loosening the grips of the moderators, but then again they did rename this forum just yeaterday. I guess it was because people kept referring it to "General" and not "Geocaching". But the good news is, that there are other places you can go to talk off topic and even some geocaching too...
  5. Everyone is a "whiner".... As far as the site being free and all...it depends on how you look at it. Of course the average joe does not have to "pay to play", but the site depends on those who do pay in one way or another. Whether it's the premium membership or buying a sticker to put on your cache, you are helping support the website. Unless Jeremy got a big inheritance and can foot the bill for eveything himself, everyone who buys something here helps support the site. The site is a business and just like any other business it depends on it's customers to keep on functioning. Of course people are going to complaikn, it's nature. As others stated, people complain about people who complain. Hence the title of this topic "I'm getting tired of All the Whining". That's a complaint or a whine as you would put it. Our best bet is to move on to the topics that interest us. Whether it's a complaint topic or not.
  6. Watch out Doc...they will move your thread to the website discussion forum...someone started one yesterday about this and Jeremy himslef moved it...
  7. I have a question about the email you sent them first of all Jimmy. What did you state in it? All though the responses were great fro the argument of asking permission, their content kind of makes me wonder. Both respond back about caching not being illegal there in their parks and about their policies. One also stated about the activity has no adverse envirnomental impacts. Was your email to them asking for permission or was it questioning them whether or not if their policy allows geocaching and how it affects the environment? Both knew of caching and knew of caches there in their park. No offense, but it makes me wonder if you were trying to stir something up. It's one thing to make plans to place a cache in those areas, but it's another to outright just ask those kind of questions. If you were wanting to place a cache, why not just tell them what caching is (which they already know) and then ask them if it was ok to place a cahce or two there. I wouldn't of lead them anywhere else with it.... Just my .02
  8. Put the coordinates to it on the wrnech...so when they go to the first cache, they get the wrench and the coordinates.... Giving me an idea there! On the humidity...I guess it would depend on the location. I could see more of a problem down south than up north...
  9. the caps would of tripled the costs of making these...I may just glue one of the screw caps on and write "open here" with an arrow on it. I painted mine gray as a good bit of the caches around here are hidden in stone walls or near some sort of rocks... I thought of getting some camo colors and camouflaging it....brown would be good to for hte stumps...
  10. I believe they are speaking about an online version...
  11. hmmm can't drill a hole in the top as that part is hollow and it would definitely leak, unless of course I could wedge a screwdiver into of some sort... will have to think about this for a while...the wooden wrench might be a good idea...
  12. hmmm...I could drill a hole through the top knob and include something like a screwdriver or wedge one into it...
  13. ahhh ok geospotter...I may look at those next time...the end caps were fairly expensive and is why I got 2 screw on caps on mine...
  14. lol stunod..took me a second there. Yeah it likes to stay on the ground here too...for a long time! It was well into April I believe this year when it finally went away.... We live on a couple acres on top of a hill overlooking a lake, which is now almost frozen over. The house we are renting sits all the way back on the property and our driveway is steep and we had to get it plowed a few time this past winter, even with the Jeep. Today, our landlord si having someone cut a drive almost half the way down...hop it helps out.
  15. yeah it does geospotter..what kind of bottom does yours have? i tell you, the most confusing thing is looking at them parts in lowes...
  16. hmmm....vaseline might be the better thing...i do have some white lithium grease and it tends to get messy itself...The vaseline petroleum jelly stuff will probably seal out the drops of water that happened in the big one... We are supposed to get snow htins weekend . Was hoping to find an area for it...
  17. Tattle tale....or is it spelled tell or tail? Geocaching! See we say geocaching so our discussion is indeed about geocaching.
  18. what kind of grease would you use CyBret?
  19. well I just submerge them in water for about 20-30 seconds. The little one, didn't take on any water. The big one took on a little. I checked and the top was not on very tight. Tighten it and resubmerged. Unscrewed the top and there was a couple of drops. That was submerged. Unless I place them in a river bed, i think they will do fine. I think if you submerged a lot of the tupperware and even some of the ammo cans that you would get a little water...
  20. hey i guess I could paint a butt on them and call them plumbers butt...
  21. Yeah, they just look like atom bombs instead...lol They've been sitting outside for a couple days. I touched up some of the paint on them and forgot about them, then we had a little snow and never went back out till a while ago. I'm gonna submerge them and see what happens.... will give a report on it after it's done...
  22. And what are all hte other areas related to? I would guess..........GEOCACHING!
