  1. So I did a little more searching - they are all placed by the local chamber of commerce C of C geocaches They say there are codes you can collect for a prize. So far I haven't found any codes in any of their geocaches. I thought maybe some kids placed them - looking at the way they were hidden and the handwriting on the note inside one of the caches.
  2. I think people are suprised when they get to the cache location, because there are posted signs that say "Stay On The Trails" and this area is a waterfowl reserve.
  3. I spent the day caching with a friend yesterday. We wanted to find some newly hidden caches in a fun wildlife area. The caches could have been awesome, but instead they were ver frustrating!!! This one GC2G4G5 was especially frustrating. We spent about 2 hours wading through muck and tall grass trying to get to the GZ. We finally gave up and went on to the next one which we found more than 60 feet off from the given cords. None of the caches were camoed they were just laying out in the open, but when they are more than 60 feet off in a wooded/grass covered/ect. area it can be very frustrating!!! Ok my rant is over and I'm going out to do more caching.
  4. We're not all cheap. There are only a few caches in my area big enough for swag. I take my dog on walks and I check on the caches that I've already found. If they are low on swag I add a few things. I never take anything. It's fun! There is more happiness in giving than receiving. And I don't expect people to trade swag in my caches. I would rather have them just take something and not put 'garbage' in my cache.
  5. Also read over the logs others have wrote after finding the cache. I read over those logs and they give a lot of hints where to begin looking for answers. Like the puzzle series says, that you were referred to earlier on in this thread, "Know what you are looking for. " The cache must be within two miles of where the question mark is on the map, so you already know the beginning of the coordinates. Look over the logs and they will help you with what you need to look up to find some answers. That puzzle series also says, "google everything" Sometimes what you look up doesn't make sense until after you look it up. Then the lightbulb may go off. Thanks I figured it out.
  6. I think the most important rule is to place your cache somewhere you will feel comfortable doing maintenance on the cache. If you don't feel comfortable checking on your cache then it's not a good hiding spot.
  7. I really love it when I get long messages! I only have one cache and I check on it every week - just to see what people say and check on the swag and add new swag. When I get a message it makes the weekly walk a lot more fun!
  8. I think I got it! Anyone willing to check my work? I'd PM you.
  9. Gaa! This is driving me crazy! Ok I have figured out the first N 45 xx.xxx part, but I have too many number in the second have. I have all my none geocaching friends at work working on it right now. LOL!
  10. Yes, but the CO is a kid and the last time they logged in was in March. (edited to add: March of 2009) I'm still trying to figure out the "See if you can spot 15 pieces of information that might be translated into single digit numbers". I just solved a Star Wars puzzle that wasn't too hard, but I don't know anything about the Army, so I'm stuck.
  11. Has anyone ever done a puzzle like this GC128G5 Where do I start? I just need a tiny hint.
  12. I contacted the cache owner and he wrote me right back. The first stage is missing and he plans on archiving the cache.
  13. There was another DNF - that makes 4 in a row. The last find was in April. CO means cache owner - right? I will send them an email. I live right next to the park where this cache is hidden. Every day it tempts me to try and find it again! So frustrating!
  14. I'm just wondering what is the proper use of needs archived vs needs maintenance? This is the cache I would like someone to check on, but I don't want to do the wrong thing - cache
  15. I keep getting a 500- Internal error when I try to use "cache along a route".
  16. Yes! I'm new I have no idea where to even start on puzzles.
  17. I just want to mention how important it is to have a something with your coin or tag that says where the TB wants to go. I picked up a TB while I was on vacation, I didn't have internet access on vacation and when I got home realized that I had taken the TB 500 miles away from its goal. I felt really bad and put it back out in circulation, but if it had had a tag or something with its goal on it I wouldn't have picked it up. Another thing - TB owners that respond when you leave a note that you've found their TB - makes me want to move their TB much faster. I just sent one to Germany as a surprise for one TB owner. Hopefully the person I sent it to puts it into a cache soon.
  18. Ok Thanks I found the other 2 micros a few weeks ago and I was so excited, because I thought then I would be able to solve the multi stage ones, but no such luck.
  19. I'm looking for a spot to place my first cache. There are 2 parks near my house where I have found a few great places to hide a cache, but there are really hard multis in both parks. I have spent hours and hours looking for the first stage of both of these multis. I spent an entire afternoon touching and testing each bolt on a bridge. I also had my friends looking for these caches. They won't go geocaching with me anymore - they are sick of looking for these caches! So my question: Do I just keep looking for these caches? Do I place my cache and hope that it isn't near any of the multi cache stages? Do I contact the reviewer in my area and ask if my cache will be near the multis? I really want to find these multis myself, so I don't really like question number 3. The multi caches are GCMRV3 and GC11HQH if you wanted to see them.
  20. Thanks for the link. I found the first page of that application, but not the 2nd one when I did a web search earlier. I live about 1 1/2 hours west of Hutchinson, but I like to drive around and cache. This is my first month of caching. My family went on vacation in Washington State the first part of June and found our first caches. They have so many beautiful places to hide/find caches.
  21. I'm having trouble finding a good place for my first cache. I placed 2, but they were in a Wildlife Refuge (oops! There were other caches there, but it turns out they were grandfathered in. My mistake!) I would like to place some regular sized caches, but there isn't a lot of public land around (without caches already placed/with cover to hide the caches/not near a railroad). There is a nearby State Park that has 3 caches already placed. However, to place a cache I have to apply at the park office. Have you applied for this kind of permit before? Tips on getting approved?
  22. We found a 2 headed deer while caching! LOL! Not really, but it suprised us.
