Up a tree - what terrain rating?
Clarkbowman replied to TheTravellingWilmys's topic in General geocaching topics
+1 15 feet isn't high but it still depends on other factors. There are a couple of 15 footers near me that are very tough to get to because there are no branches low enough to reach from the ground. On both, i was able wrap my arms around the trunk and shimmy up. However, most people who have found them weren't able to do that. They used a ladder or some other device to get them. Even though most of the finders used "special equipment" to access, not everyone needed to. In these cases, a 4.5 seemed the better rating. If you happen to fall from 15 foot you have strong chance of being hurt bad ( pushing up daisies ). So I would say D-5 Even if you use a ladder, thats considered special equipment as is any safty gear, so it would make it a D-5 Difficulty has to do with finding the cache, not accessing it. For example, we have a huge rural mailbox around 35' in a tree, needing rope to access. It's a D1.5/T5 only because of leaves in the Summer (and it's camo'd in a leaf pattern). Some branches above broke off and now it sorta could be a D1, but we realize that many accessed for it's D/T combo (that challenge thing). Your correct, my brain was some where else. -

Just one of any of the four does not fit me. One, Two and Four for would be a good description of me. . I - The podium seekers: No matter what cache is published, you'll visit them immediately to seek a FTF, STF or TTF. II - The sweepers: All the available caches in your area, no matter what type of cache, must turn into a smiley. IV - The passers-by: Every once in a while you'll visit a cache that you're passing by anyway.

Try searching on FB in your area. Al so look for some events close to you. You will find some cachers that way.
-
I have seen several caches in that "somewhere that a cache simply wouldn't be." location. So a lot of times reviewing some of the logs may help before you give up. Happy Hunting

Still encouraging cache seekers to break existing sprinklers. Don't do it. They are terrible containers. What he ^^^^^^^^^ said.

Im selling off a large part of my unactivated Geocoin Collection. Most of them have been out of stock for years and are hard to find. Selling them off to buy a pair of bikes for my wife and myself to hit some biking trails after more caches. The more you buy, the better the deal you will get. Shipping is not included, but it will be small. I will let you know before you send me money. Thanks 1. carousel horse geocoin 40.00 2. Dragon Spinner 25.00 3. GW VII Guitar 35.00 4. Enough with caches in poison ivy patches
Clarkbowman replied to thrillseeker69's topic in General geocaching topics
For us poor folks here in Al. If you walk off the pavement there is almost always poison Ivy. Then if by some chance you found the one chunk of woods with out it, there is always a good chance that the rattle snake I placed next to the cache might still be there. If not him the always trusty Copperhead might be there as his night shift. But if you missed him you may find his nice neighbor Mr Cotton Mouth if you happen to be near any water. Then there is always the Trusty Mrs Black Widow and Mr Brown Recluse hiding out in those dark places. just a few of the things we run into here. So if your biggest problem is PI, your lucky -
So definitely not US only. It's now not US only. It was US only when it was first announced, hence the "started out as" part of the OP's post. Unless it was changed with in a hour of it showing up on the blog it has always said it was for all
