  1. SNARF!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, I don't know if that was it or not, but check out this website. Do You Snarf?
  2. Well, if the professor would get his a** in gear, I could tell you, but even though it's listed there for all to see, he claims he doesn't have it uploaded. Thursday I'm walking into his office and setting a copy of it on his desk. If he still ends up incapable of grading it, I'm shoving it up his hiney. I've had to submit it two additional times and he still can't be bothered to say he has recieved it. The second one - which is suppsed to be done the same way as the first (whatever way that is) is already turned in. I want to kick his butt right now. It's one thing to blow off personal obligations, but professional obligations are another thing altogether. I've also written two papers for another teacher in the meantime. (One was six pages, one was two) -- Somebody do me a favor. Next time I'm told to have 'higher level thinking' and I try to chose a topic such as Archaeologists and the beliefs of Ancient Egyptians.. hit me and remind me that there are caches in egypt, greece, or any of the other places we've discussed in class, and perhaps I should try to tie in something much more fun for my extended topic. (Heck, remind me that the architecture of an ammo can is more interesting than that of the parthenon, too...) In better (?) news, I'm about to quit my job, so I should have all the time in the world to devote to that website. lol!
  3. Yeah. I always say something along the lines of Greetings! I was checking my travel bugs and noticed that you've had <bug> in your possession for a while. Could you please let me know what's going on with this bug, just so I know? Thanks! At least I know something this way. And the message doesn't come across as "You jerk, go put my bug in a cache!" FYI - I sent three such messages out before I went to work and at least one message has already resulted in a good result.
  4. I think BobTheBug wants to come to Nashville and see fly. lol. Okay, Okay.. Just a thought. I feel the pain about bugs not fitting places. Somehow at the last event, though, I managed to get three that are very tiny. I could put all three into the same decon container with no problem, and one will fit in a film canister! I just looked up the ones I owned.... Eight bugs, two coins... Six are being held by cachers, but only two of those six moved this month. (Looks like it's time for another round of polite "I see you and my bug are having a good time..." emails)... The three that are in my tb race are sitting in caches.. and the forth that appears to be in a cache is a personal coin that I'm not releasing and I've simply left it in my event page. Dang, that's depressing! Only 6335 miles between the ten of them.
  5. One other thing would be to think about is how people log caches. I'm sure every one of us at one time or another has either been the first to log online and not the first to find or found it first but there was a person or two who logged before you logged your FTF. I've done it and it's happened to my caches. So how, in that case, does the computer figure out who's first to find and who's just the first to log on the site? In really popular areas, the FTF could be the fifth or sixth log on a cache page.
  6. Now go in the kitchen, and get me some pie!
  7. What the heck.. Wanted to give us something to talk about.. How many bugs are you currently holding? How many bugs do you own? Lets get conversation started! Went to an event last night and ended up with a bunch of them (8 regular and a WJ). One of them, the tag number is in the 100000 range... When I can get on the site to log, it'll be interesting to see where that one's been. Another one is called "exhibit C" - looks kinda neat. The Jeep started out in France with a local cacher who went there on a trip. Very cool! As for owned, I've got a few out there. Four are racing and doing moderately well, but not wonderful. A couple others keep dissapearing but then showing back up.
  8. Many admins will wait until there are a certain number of DNFs. Or a significant problem.
  9. The downside to Decons is that quite a few people don't take the time to make sure they close - some of them seal so tightly you have to really wait for the sound of it closing. Last one I found was half water half soggy cache swag mess.
  10. Another thing to remember is that if your email server has a big backlog, you will get your pq when they get around to delivering your email to your box. This could take two seconds or twelve hours.
  11. Always a good idea... I've sent quite a few.. "I saw you were new..." emails explaining various things. Some people responded politely, some ignored me, but none have told me to screw off yet, so I think it's all good. Certain aspects of logging - especially for bugs - can be confusing to a beginner.
  12. I recall hearing of a cache that had a set of tb tags and a coin in it as a ftf prize... the cache was found by someone who thought they were the ftf, but the cache had already been emptied. I fear that might happen in this case, too.
  13. As someone who's currently holding a traveling cache, I can say I don't particularly like them either. First of all, you don't want to hide it too close to an existing cache because of confusion (what happens if they take your cache instead of the moving one?)... then you have to worry about rules/regulations... (parks require permits, so why get one just for a temporary thing)... etcetera.. I finally threw the thing in my front yard.
  14. I won't quote your entire back and forth here unless you give permission, so I'll try and summarize. The initial post was requesting more information about the placement of a cache since it was shown in a cemetary. You responded by SHOUTING in text to say that it wasn't in the cemetary but not saying anything like, for example, it was outside of the fence of the cemetary. Some straightforward answer would have been nice. Then, you proceeded to contact the reviewer through the email form and insuate that the reviewer was a racist because the cache listing was relating to a black artist. I'm suspecting that the only reason you weren't thrown out of a window by the reviewer at that point was because this was on the Interweb. I'm shocked even more by the fact that the reviewer's response was so incredibly polite and restrained considering the insult that took place. If anything, IMO, there seems to be more problems with your attitude than the exemplary restraint that the reviewer had in this case. Courtesy goes both ways, you know. Thank you for once again coming in and letting us see both sides to the issue. As for the original poster... What in the world do you think means? That they think the cache is at the dairy queen?
  15. I wish they had signs pointing at them... The 1/1 caches seem to be what I have the most trouble with... lol!
  16. Sounds like a good place to hold a CITO event.
  17. Since I was lucky enough to get to start one, I can vouch for the fact that the Jeeps were initially given to people in the original box.
  18. That's why I won't put a TB hotel anywhere I can't monitor it almost all the time - front yard good, nearby park bad.

    Coin Request

Okay... So here's my request... Now that we have so many coins and there's so many icons is there something that we can do when looking at a list of caches to make the page better? Now there's so many icons in a row that the page is too wide for our screens. I distantly recall something else being suggested, but here's my idea anyway... Can we make it so that the bugs are on one line and the coins are on a second one or so that it automatically breaks to a new line after, say, five icons? Text wraps, so why not the coin/bug graphics? To see what I'm referring to... click here
  20. The new TN coin has a bear on it... Go to this forum to place an order, or I'll have an extra one if you want to buy one from me. Edited to add: If you ever get to Nashville, I know of at least one cache this way that has a ray and rose wooden nickel in it.
  21. In the past month, almost 6000 miles have been logged (5958, exactly). The following bugs, however, have not moved in that month. If your bug is in the list below, I *highly* suggest you either send a polite email to whomever is holding it asking them to drop it in any cache or to the cache owner asking them to check to see if it's still there and possibly help move it along. Ryan Newman Davey Allison Bill Elliott Casey Atwood Ernie Irvan Dave Marcis Harry Gant Dick Trickle Kerry Earnhardt Kasey Kahne Dale Earnhardt Sr Tony Stewart Jeremy Mayfield Jeff Green Fireball Roberts Jeff Burton Terry Labonte And, well, Jeff, but we know he's missing. Martin Truex, as stated previously, has made it through five tracks now. Kyle Petty has made it to the next track in his order, which is Darlington. He is the only other bug to officially advance a track. Casey Mears has now logged both California caches, but they won't count until he's managed to do all the caches up to those two. With that said, a log I've noticed has seriously disturbed me: Apparently, even though the original contents of this cache included a travel bug in it's container (which was also a toy car), the person who did this log didn't think the bug would fit? In order to prevent that from happening again, I have moved the california cache yet again. Casey's log for this track will stand. The New California Speedway cache is: GCPEX9 - Hillview Surprise Package With all of that out of the way... I apologise greatly for the website not being updated quite a soon as it should have been. I judge how often to change the site based on movement, and try to do it every couple weeks. Midterms and Family obligations got in my way this time. The site will be updated within the next Day or two.. Second on my to do list after writing a paper for my sociology class. In the meantime, all of the bugs in the top 15 have made it to Darlington or further. The other 22 bugs in the race are still no better than Daytona. Here is the top 15. Martin Truex (5 Tracks) Mark Martin (3 Tracks) Ryan Newman (3 Tracks) Davey Allison (2 Tracks) Ward Burton (2 Tracks) Bill Elliott (2 Tracks) Bobby Hamilton Jr (2 Tracks) Patty Moise (2 Tracks) Kyle Petty (2 Tracks) Casey Atwood (2 Tracks) Ernie Irvan (2 Tracks) Dave Marcis (2 Tracks) Harry Gant (2 Tracks) Dick Trickle (2 Tracks) Kurt Busch (2 Tracks)
  22. I've got a series of caches called Little China - the 12 Chinese Zodiac signs are micro caches that are fairly easy to find and then there's a final bonus cache if you find the whole series. Well, Tiger is a micro in a light pole situated at Waffle house and about 40 feet from a gas station. One day I got the following two logs: June 7 by Crowesfeat30 (666 found) So, Strider & I are walking to breakfast this morning & he says "Let's look & see if there is a cache here". So we look and much to our suprise there was one!! After we stop laughing we realize that we hadn't even brought a pen with us; so we had breakfast, came back to the room, looked up this cache so we could log it, then went back to sign the log. Thanks for giving us a good laugh and a fun cache! Crowesfeat30 Manchester, M0 [view this log on a separate page] June 7 by Strider (1496 found) I'd heard that there are plenty of caches in Nashville, I really believe it now. CrowesFeat30 & I were staying at the Red Roof Inn, and walked over to Waffle House for breakfast. As we got near there, I joked that we should start looking, and lifted up the first one of these I came to. Guess what, there was a film canister in there:) We about fell over. We ate breakfast, then came back to the room to look it up. And here it is!!! Thanks Fly46, you got our day off to a great start. Strider Glendale, Missouri As someone who often resists the urge to check every light pole there is, these logs really made my day.
  23. GC.com didn't make it... Some cacher did for a signature item.
  24. Hey... leave me out of this. Wait.. is this what they were talking about in another thread about misquoting people?
