  1. As those of you in the Pittsburgh area know, I have been running an event for the last 3 years called MACITO (Monthly Allegheny CITO) for the first two years I held it every month during summer months and stopped during the winter months for safety reasons. This year is an exception due to many personal reasons (new baby, new house, etc), and that is why I am looking for assistance in organizing and planning 2 final events for this summer season and preparing for next year. If any one is interested please post here or mail me.
  2. I recently started to make some Pocket PC themes for my WM5 device that I use for paperless caching. They can be located here: GPS Adventure Signal Saudi Signal Caching Please let me know what you think. I am looking for some feedback so I can make better themes in the future. Also, if you have any requests please mail me and I will try to make them and post them on that site.
  3. Just adding my two cents. I have been paperless geocaching since 2004. I use BeelineGPS for my software and I love it. It’s not free but it’s fast and easy to use and has lots of bells and whistles. I currently use a Verizon Pocket PC phone that runs WM5. It’s an XV6700. I have TOM TOM on it for caches I am not sure how to navigate to and I use a generic Bluetooth GPS. I have noticed that its accuracy is better than my garmen etrex and my venture. It’s worked so well that my wife even upgraded her phone so she could use the same software set. I recently picked up an extended battery for it and can go 2-3days between recharges or one really tough day of caching, but it lasts all day. If you have any questions send me an IM and I will try to share them here.
  4. I have been busy as of late and have not been able to be very active with Geocaching as of late, but am dedicating more time once again to this wonderful sport. Sprint is quickly approaching and it is once again time to start thinking about the Monthly Allegheny CITO. My contact is Mr. Hopson Deputy Director with the county of Allegheny Department of parks. If you need his contact information please mail me and I will send it to you. However I have recently been in communications with him about his cooperation with hosting some of the 2006 CITO’s and he has not indicated any cache requirements or the like. I will not probe but I will keep my ears open if he mentions something I let you know.
