  2. Gallant knows to treat other people with respect on the forums, because his words reflect back on him. Goofus rarely has anything to contribute on the forums. Fortunately only a couple of people know he's Gallant's sock puppet... [This message was edited by mckee on September 14, 2003 at 08:00 AM.]
  3. Gallant takes care to ensure a positive image of geocachers by asking permission, trashing out, being respectful of others and being involved in the forums to help out people new to the game. Goofus worships Satan, so he doesn't give a crap. -------------------- This space for rent! Ask about our easy layaway plan!
  4. Gallant packs his GPS, water, some nice cache items and a bag to pick up trash. Goofus packs his GPS, a shovel, Kwik-Lime and Gallant's dismembered torso. See who wins now? -------------------- This space for rent! Ask about our easy layaway plan!
  5. We have a Saitech (spelling?) charger, great unit. The only alkaline batteries I've had leak are the eveready and other budget brands. -------------------- This space for rent! Ask about our easy layaway plan!
  6. quote:Originally posted by Kealia:Since I take my dogs and daughter to the park oftern I keep an eye out for cachers. I hope to catch one someday soon and give them a little good-natured trouble before telling them who I am. Then I can sit back and watch them search. Don't tell them who you are, just act very wierd and see if they mention you in their log. 7. quote:Originally posted by Kealia:I assume you refer to the mention I made of running into the other cacher. It was pretty funny actually. One day my wife and I were heading to a cache with a designated parking spot and saw a car there already. Peeking into the window as we walked by we saw some OFF and a few Mapquest printouts on the front seat. Clear sign of a cacher! We ran into him while he was in mid-search and teamed up to find it shortly thereafter. He mentioned that he was from San Jose (about 20 miles North) and has never cached in our area before but loved the beauty of the Redwoods. After finding the cache and walking back to our cars we had a nice chat and wished each other well. 2 days later I was out caching alone and ran into him at the first leg of a puzzle cache about 5 miles away from the last cache. It was only his second time in this area and it happened within a 3 day period. We both thought it was pretty funny and made a number of jokes about it. Although when he left he mumbled something about growing a goatee and buying a new car.... Yup, although I suppose officially "crashing" would mean you found them in the act of finding the actual cache. We've crashed into someone looking for a cache here. We were walking one way, they were walking another way, complete with backpack (in a city park-like area). After we passed I told Kathy "They're caching." Sure enough we found them on a different trail a bit later. They saw us going the other way with out GPS out and figured they were heading in the wrong direction. We all teamed up to locate the cache, whose coordinates were off by 40 feet or so. Had they been aliens, we would have overcome and eaten them so they could not return to their hive and warn the other aliens that a cache was nearby. Not really. -------------------- This space for rent! Ask about our easy layaway plan!

  9. Mid-Thirties married geocaching couple, into traveling, Garmin GPS V's, traditional caches, long hikes in the woods looking for micro's, evenings by the fireside filling out logs and looking for potential FTF's. Looking for compatible couple for hot&heavy caching. Pushy Magellan owners or couples who don't drive an SUV need not apply. No McToys! No virtuals! -------------------- This space for rent! 10. Wow, what started out as a parody thread about people who wander around following geocachers has turned far more strange/interesting than I thought it would be. This was satire based on hammack's story about being pursued, various forum rumblings related to it, and various other past threads regarding the exact same thing happening at other rest areas, combined with the "Geodashing-What's next?" thread. There is no website, no such sport as GeoStalking (aside from Kealia's habit of what I call "geocrashing"). I *did* state that I wear a French Maid outfit when I clean, but that's beside the point. I do not geocache in that getup, as it makes less sense than shorts and open-toed sandals! -------------------- This space for rent! Ask about our easy layaway plan!
  11. Intelligent, but working in a job lower than his abilities, did some military time with a general or dishonorable discharge. He has problems with authority figures, which can be traced back through school. He dropped out at an early age, relying on a female member of this family, his mother or grandmother, for support. He still wets his bed. He displayed a tendancy towards cruelty to small animals, and set fires.... Oops, that's Average Joe Serial Killer. My mistake. -------------------- This space for rent! 16. quote:Originally posted by Renegade Knight:I don't know about other caches you but in my future cache "Coldwater" you will be able to tell it's a gay park by the sign that says "This is a gay park, please shut the gate behind you to keep the cattle in". It's also a river access for sportsmen. I can't control where people go to do their private business in public, but I can put a cache there! Why don't they just hire a big, strapping, manly Cattle Guard? -------------------- This space for rent! Ask about our easy layaway plan!

Actually the housefrau thing is working out nicely. If I could only convince the Little Woman that this French Maid outfit is too snug in my niblets. -------------------- This space for rent! 21. Hurray! It is amazing the amount of bodies discovered by hunters in the US, who are typically the people who leave the beaten trail. I suspect geocachers will find themselves in a similar niche within the next 10 years or so. -------------------- This space for rent! Ask about our easy layaway plan!

  23. I heard about this on another board, rest_area_perverts.com. Apparently these guys like to check out the boards here and then hang around cache-friendly rest areas waiting for lone men appear, wandering around with a gps in their hand. The guys follow these geocachers around, even drive after them if they try to flee in their vehicles. They call it "GeoStalking." Who knew? -------------------- This space for rent! 24. quote:Originally posted by seneca:The term _political correctness_ gets used a way too often, and more often than not as a response to a genuine complaint of someone who is truly offended by someone’s language or behaviour, and has the courage to say so. _Political Correctness_, does not equal politeness, or a genuine aversion to offending. _Political correctness_ is self-serving behaviour where one insincerely governs their language or actions in order to reduce the negative political consequences that may be incurred if one simply spoke their mind, or acted in a manner that they thought was right. Censoring people for not following the rules of _political correctness_, to me is simply wrong, and really just encourages self-serving insincerity. I prefer to allow people to be able to expose themselves for what they really are. If a person has a truly offensive personality, then I like to be able to assess that for myself, instead of having some form of censorship keep their words from my view. When such offensive people then face the wrath of others who are offended by their language, and they defend themselves by blaming the reaction on _political correctness_, then I just lose that much more respect for them (if I had any left). The other problem with _political correctness_ is that it often provides positive reinforcement for people to be more sensitive, and easily offended, than what is really reasonable, in a society that preaches tolerance. I believe that many people feign taking offence, and use the fear of not acting politically correct to their own political advantage. I would hope that the contents of logs would be governed by polite, civil behaviour, and a desire to keep Geocaching an enjoyable activity for all persons. Governing our language to achieve those ends, is not acting _politically correct_, its just plain good manners. Post of the day. -------------------- This space for rent!
