Have you tried starting another infammatory thread on the subject over in a different forum? I hear that usually works.

Probably the editor wouldn't let them print "Find some dadgum broken McToy or other crap." icon_frown.gif

I've never ate while caching...I would say an energy bar, some water, some fruit, trail mix and etc...

    No soup? icon_frown.gif

My cellmate is nice though, and he is really anxious to start caching, because all he talks about to me is "da booty". Add another to our sport!

Try hunting caches in a neighbor's house when they aren't home. Much less likelihood of being interrupted by muggles. Didn't the Manson family start the whole caching thing, only I think they called it "Creepy-Crawling?"

  5. My wife wanted to pick up some soup on the way to a cache, the stuff they typically serve at a store deli. We were looking for some stuff to leave in a cache, and she decided that she should eat because she gets the low blood sugar thing occasionally, and then she gets crabby. Anyway, she got a Styrafoam cup of soup, which she described as "the perfect food." I told her that was nonsense, particularly if she'd ever tried to drive while eating soup. She said sure, but it's the perfect geocaching food.

How can she think this? Does anybody else eat soup while they cache? Shouldn't we stick with something that doesn't require 2 hands to eat? How will you cache? How will you hold your GPS? How will you move branches and sticker bushes away?

I will admit she didn't spill any, and even brought the empty cup and spork back to the truck, but I just can't believe soup is the perfect geocaching food!

Please note she did NOT fill a cache with soup. That wasn't us, it must have been somebody else.

    What they actually mean is:

"I tell you all the time how smart I am, but in reality, only I think I'm that smart but I tell you anyway because it helps to inflate my already inflated ego. In reality, I'm nothing but a low life ambulance chaser and I'm not really good at that either otherwise I'd be out helping people get a fair settlement for their suffering rather than spending all my time in the forums harrassing people. I have no idea what people are saying because I don't read their posts carefully enough and even then, I'll pick the most trivial aspect of their post to focus on. Oh, and don't let me forget that I feel compelled to take discussions off topic and then blame anyone who's trying to put it back on topic as the one who took it off topic."

Thanks for starting this topic. It's a really good one. icon_rolleyes.gif

  9. So, are there more decent REAL caches along I-94, I-5 south, I-5 north or Hwy 26? We'd be leaving from Portland on this trip. Tried to figure out how to plot something like this and get feedback from the cache search engine here but didn't have much luck. icon_frown.gif

I thought that rather than write these people tickets, I would offer a friendly suggestion. It seems some people have not taken my comment as I intended.

I think the reaction was mostly based the appearance that you showed up, complained and then disappeared. Also, posts that criticize or raise a concern are hard to take seriously when they require the users to hunt down specifics before responding. That sort of sucked some of the vailidity out of your post.

The community here is full of people who have expressed the same concerns, and who want to address stuff like this without feeling like they've been trolled by the person who starts the thread.

I suppose the best course of action to getting concerns addressed is to talk first to the person who placed the cache, next to the person who OK'ed it. Going directly to the forums will do the least to fix a specific problem like this, but it will certainly "create more heat than light."

  11. One of the reasons this type of legalese is included in a web site is that it grants the site owner use of postings (text or graphics) for promotional purposes. That avoids having to track down users individually in order to quote them. If Groundspeak wanted to put out an educational pamphlet, they have all the materials they need right here on the site. "The is what real geocachers say!"

Unfortunately they could also publish a pamphlet about Forumites, and they'd still have plenty of material to pull from. "...and this is how they pick fights with each other online!"
