  1. Yep, I've seen those. Personally I don't see why you wouldn't make it a multi that you have to visit several sites to gather information for the final step. (I've even seen other peoples caches being used as a leg in the multi) That at least makes it so every cacher has to go to each location. The final wouldn't become availble after the FTF. Thanks for your help everyone, I think a slight re-think is in order. Just thought I'd get a nice christmas themed multi out for the festive season. Maybe just maybe I'll get something sorted, or just go for a bog standard traditional for my first placement.
  2. Ok what I want to do is have a Multi-Virtual cache with an unlisted (but approved) traditional cache as the final objective. This cache will only to become available to cachers who have found all the virtuals in the series and as such cannot be searched for using any of the search facilities available on the GeoCaching website. Once a FTF has been logged then the final cache will become available to all (tho I would hope that players would keep up with the spirit of the multi and leave the cache to the end). I have a few questions: Is is possible to have a Virtual-Multi cache (or Multi-Virtual)? Do the rules allow for such? Is it possible within the rules to have a cache that is active but cannot be searched for? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
  3. I already have all of the UK caches on my PocketPC. I don't sync them thru the cradle tho, it is much quicker to copy them direct to the MMC card then load them directly into GPXSonar.
  4. I just thought that some of you may be interested. Aldi have another special offer on a Navigation PDA this week (11th Nov). It is a re-branded Mitak 168 (I think) which has an integrated GPS antenna. Full spec and price HERE. The navigation software is the Navigon MobileNavigator4 package although I don't know how up to date the maps are, there are some reports that they use TeleAtlas maps. I have version 3 of this software on my Pocket PC (Aldi special offer around Feb/Mar this year) which uses NavTeq maps and am well impressed with it. The new version 4 of the software also incorporates a POI system (Points Of Interest) for things like Speed Cameras and even Caches (with audible warnings/alerts when approaching a POI). When I bought mine I had to chase around all of the local Aldi shops until I found one. I'm alerting everyone who might be interested to get into Aldi as soon as they open on Thursday, as they only get 10-20 units in each store and they sell out within minutes of the doors opening.
  5. Just my 2p. Would it not be a sensible idea to attach one of them cheap plastic coloured key tags (the ones with the little window and label) with the TB's destination before you let it loose into the big bad world? Would it not be a good idea to actually ship the TB's with these (or something similar) attached.
  6. Does MeriGold support MMC & SD or just SD?
  7. No don't archive it, it's a really nice spot but just keep the warning about the shady characters, we saw one watching us fumbling around and eventually he just left us alone
  8. Thanks for that, I have subscribed to the magellanmeridian group so maybe I might get some help there. Thanks again
  9. Ok, I recently boucht a PocketPC navigation system from Aldi and was wondering if there is any geocaching software available which would allow me to enter GPS coords of car parks near caches . Unfortunately the software supplied only works with street names/postcodes which isn't really any great help.
  10. Not wishing to sound thick (I am a newbie) but what is MemoryMap?
  11. Is there anything similar to Cachmate for a PocketPC??
  12. At long last, after being a member of these boards for nearly a year I have at last managed to find my first cache Thanx to Chris and Mary B for placing a cache in such a lovely area so near to my home (less than 1/2 mile) so that I could walk to it on such a wonderful sunny day (and also got my wife to come with me and she thoroughle enjoyed it also)..
  13. I have just aquired my Magellan Meridian Gold (from US $249). I have successfully swapped the basemap from American to European using the PC cable as the MeriGold refuses to accept any of my Sd-Cards. I have 4 cards 32Mb used in my phone, 128Mb used in my camera, 256Mb used in my PocketPC and a spare 128Mb. When I tried to replace the basemap I first tried using the SD card and the MeriGold said there were no files on the card (I remember reading somewhere that the MeriGold only reads cards it has formatted) so I formatted using the MeriGold. Then copied the basemap over again and still MeriGold says there are no files on the card. Anybody else have this problem?? (I have tried both of the 128Mb cards and the 32Mb card)
  14. Thanx for the replies, Looks like I'll have to try and do something myself maybe I'm not here really, or am I? If I am, do I want to be?
  15. Thanx Derek, it was a thought, maybe I'll do something myself I'm not here really, or am I? If I am, do I want to be?
  16. I have Autoroute 2002 installed on my laptop which allows you to export maps in the Microsoft Pocket Street format, does anyone know of a software package which will convert this format to maybe MapSend or MapSource format? If so where do I get it from and how would I get the data onto a GPS unit? I'm not here really, or am I, If I am I dont't want to be.

  18. Thanx John for the link but that was sort of the maximum type of price I was willing to pay for GPS, Cable, cycle mount, and maybe SD-Card (if required). Paul, I'm in the West Midlands 0.2mi from Shire Oak Cache. Where do I find out about local events? Cheers, Glenn... I'm not here really, or am I, If I am I dont't want to be.
  19. Ok so having read more information on the 2 Magellan products (SporTrak Map & Meridian I can't really afford a SporTrak Pro, not at UK prices anyway) Which of the 2 are being used in the UK? Which is the most reliable, accurate, ergonomic? Or should I just go with the Meridian for the SD-card functionality? Will any standard Sd-Card work in the Meridian..
  20. What is the annual membership fee for NT nowadays??
  21. Already have a box of rechargeable batteries (for palm, camera, stuff like that) so always keep a couple of AA & AAA charged for emergencies.
