  1. Well...I think you can complain about anything that you want to. I just wanted to give you the benefit of my thoughts such as they are. (no reason to use this last face I just like it)
  2. Okay here is my $.02 worth. Sometimes a cache is placed and then the terrible plants grow up around it. So mention it in your log and maybe the owner will either up the difficulty to account for the "weeds" or they will move the cache. I was once caching outside my local area and hiked a huge hill to find a cache only to find that if I had circled to the back of the hill there was a nice paved road that took me within 50 yards of this cache. I guess that is part of the adventure of caching especially out of my regular area.
  3. We had local cacher here in Utah (Ado0r) start caching without a drivers license and he did his first 100 on a bike. I don't know how dense the caches are in your area but you can cache without a car if you want to badly enough. Welcome to geocaching...you're going to love it EDIT: I just checked your zip code compared to mine. You have more caches (aprox. 2100) within 100 miles than I do (approx. 1800) but I have 170 within 10 miles while you have only 49. I guess for biking that will be a bad thing for you.
  4. In the end it is always up to the cache owner. However, in another cache that I have done that is very similar to this "all hands on deck" the owner allows finds without card swapping so long as you don't take a card unless you leave a card. In my experience most physical caches only require signing the log to log the cache on line.
  5. Maybe post this question in the regional forum for your area and you may get a more specific response. Good Luck.
  6. Well, speaking as a bloody lawyer, and supposing we are talking about a public school, I'd certainly try to sue the ministry of education, the local school authorities and you as the teacher for impeding my kid's freedom of speech. Or, putting, it differently: If you feel that you have to "reprimand" someone for using words that seem inappropriate for you, doesn't this tell more about you than about the kid (or the cache)? BS/2 At least where I live the schools definately have the right to regulate the language in the halls and the classroom. You also can't wear clothing with vulgar words or that advertise drugs. It is all deemd to be "disruptive to education" They can also censor the school newspapers as well since they are the "owners".
  7. If it is a public bridge with no restrictions on use, I would have told him, "Why don't you go ahead and call the police right now? I'd love to file a harassment report on you" Unfortunately, you can't file a harrassment report on someone for making a "good intent" call to the police. That is to say, if the gentleman honestly felt you were doing something wrong, it is his constitutional right and duty to report it. After so many calls from the same guy about the same thing, the police will simply ignore him, and bump his complaint to the bottom of the response queue. The old man who cried "geocacher"?
  8. My son (Football Freak) and I both love signature items. That is almost all I trade for anymore. Football Freak can't stand not to trade, so he trades for other things as well. He likes little trinkets and pocketknives. Since pocket knives are not suppose to be in caches he is always happy to trade them out It is amazing how a little toy soldier or something that I would not look twice at becomes valuable because I know it was left be the cacher who signed his name on the bottom. Didn't someone leave blue crayons for awhile as a signature item? Edited for sloppiness.
  9. If someone doesn't place good caches don't go to them. We have some locals that place lots of quality caches and I would not want them curtailed. (See I said it all with a smile.)
  10. How come this organization isn't listed on the Colorado page as a local Org.? It sounds like a great resource for just this kind of inquiry.
  11. Go down a bit in the forums and you will find a list for a regional forum. You will probably get a better and faster response there. Or search (on the website) for caches in Denver and look at the profile of the hider and contact them directly. I love this hobby so I hope you will too.
  12. I'm betting it took you longer to type this way than to do it correctly. I was, however, able to read it better than I would have thought.
  13. Some very active cachers are in the sport just for the hunt and rarely if ever trade items. Go for it and have fun.
  14. The only thing I want to add is if you did have an adventure and took some picutres that you would like to share please share it. As a cache owner I love seeing things like this and even as a cache seeker it is fun to hear about others' adventures. My opinion is that you should always share
  15. Utah has the cach-u-nuts game. Check out www.cachunuts.com. Sorry I don't know how to make it a link.
  16. Maybe you have already thought about this and are just being secretive but you could always start a new account and no one (the harrasser) will know it's still you. You shouldn't have to do this since as others have said harrassment is illegal but it is a quick fix that will let you still geocache while you deal with the (insert your preferred expletive here) person.
  17. Yes, but can the cicadas be tracked on the website?
  18. I think that is the idea but I suspect that they will become collectors items. I'm not saying that They should be collected I just fear that this is what will happen.
  19. Didn't you get the Team Jacket and the free GPSr? Oh, well congratulations anyway. Here's to 100 more and 100 more and 100 more ...
  20. I almost hate to mention this because I would hate to see it happen but you can delete all of your own logs if you want to. You will have to go to your "My Cache Page" and click on each cache to find your log and delete it but it can be done. You can also "clean out" your profile so that it contains no information if you choose. Looks to me like it cantians virtually no information now. Edited for clarity. (I hope)
  21. I am not familiar with the E-map but with Mapsource I can hook up my Garmin Vista and do real time navigation on my laptop. (or my desktop but it is not nearly as useful as the laptop)
  22. Daxe--I loved your comment but your avatar really freaks me out.
  23. I agree, you are a part of nature and should not worry about making "prints" in the dirt. I can't imagine any cache owner complaining especially with the usual geotrails that often develop around caches. Your's probably won't be recognizable to anyone who doen't know what they are looking at.
