  1. quote:I personally can't wait for winter and the nice geocaching weather. Gosh really?!?! I guess different places have different problems. I'm not saying that you can't Geocache in Utah in the winter but it makes a lot of the caches very difficult to find under 2-5 feet of snow depending on what canyon or mountain they are located in. One cache says that it is a nice hike in the summer and snowmobile only in the winter. I also hate to get "stuff" in my shoes and socks but I guess that it happens so often that I just pick it all out and move along. Maybe I need a "Winter Home" somewhere that has good Geocaching weather
  2. Well, I'm 36 and my son who accompanies me sometimes is 13. That gives us an average of 24.5. On the other hand I sometimes walk across the campus of BYU where I attended in the 80's and think I recognize students. Then I realize that I probably don't since my old classmates are as old as I am.

  4. I have a actually found people's old credit card receipts in a cache. True Geotrash unless you are meant to be able to charge something on the card. I try to leave something of equal value to what I have taken. In one instance I left several small items for a large item. As far as the pawn goes could that be someones signature item? If it is it seems to me that a meaningless item has now turned into something to be sought after. On the other hand, if someone is just finding stuff in their "junk drawer" to leave for a cache trade that if pretty lame. The thrill is in the hunt but it is nice to have a prize at the end. :cool

  6. Like others have said it is always nice to have options. I like the silver tags and the copies that I get to keep make a great "dogtag necklace" for me. On the other hand, I would probably send more out if they were less expensive. I think travelbugs will always be a coveted find in a cache becasue they will always be unique. I suppose if the day ever comes that there are mutiple travelbugs in every cache then we can think about making them more exclusive. I think, however, that that day is a long way off. One of the allures of the travel bug is trying to see if I can contribute to its goal. No matter how many bugs I find in a cache it will be fun to see what unique and/or strange goal someone else has dreamed up that I can contribute t
  7. Here in Utah County we have a theme cache just for magazines. I'm not saying not to leave them in another as well but you can find the cache at http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=9539 I'll be looking for your used magazines in other caches as well.
  8. It looked like some type of war or capture the flag game. Apparently one of the "Blue" players was suppose to get his tag back from the cache. The discription on the tag was not very long but I think the players or maybe just the teams had a "home cache" and captured tags were put into that cache.
  9. I have seen in several caches recently items that are used in other games which are related to Geocaching but are not for the "public at large" I have no problem with this (maybe others do) I just don't want to accidently take something that is not for public taking. I saw a blue tag that had a very nice discription of what it was and asking those not playing "that" game not to take it. Then just yesterday I saw an item (a painted railroad spike) that looked like it might have been involved in some other game but I was unsure. My suggestion is that if you don't want someone to take your special item it needs to be clearly marked. Just some thoughts
