  1. I fully agree, there are some wonderfully detailed descriptions on the subject. Especially abroad I appreciate lengthy descriptions that are not feasible from a phone. Being a nooby I just wonder, isn't it possible to edit the description once you get to a real keyboard?
  2. I'll check what the session timeout is. It should stay longer than 10s of minutes. The "fatal error" has been fixed, now I can see the whole waymark list. Login session duration is a bit odd? I have an Android 2.2 phone and I am using the default browser. On the phone: -the full website remembers my previous login -the mobile website does not remember On my PC (win7, Chrome) both sites keep me logged in at least for hours. Maybe it's the default browser?
  3. Do you mean from page to page it doesn't remember who you are? Or after a short time? You're sure it successfully logged you in (from the search results, your name was at the top right?) Yeah, I've seen that a few times. I think there are results that I'm not expecting when I get the list of waymarks from Waymarking.com. Do you happen to know what the coordinates were when you searched? If you could cut & paste the URL in your browser when this happens that would help.I haven't been able to reproduce it since I've seen it before. 1) The site forgets me when I re-enter the site after some time (10s of minutes) 2) Oh, it occurs on my PC browser, too. Makes the copying much easier: http://chilehead.us/Waymarking/wmlist.php?lat=60.26167&lon=24.85705&filter=0 This waymark is the last one displayed: http://www.Waymarking.com/waymarks/WMA37K_Hesburger_Pukinmki_Helsinki_Finland
  4. Works great. But 1) For some reason the login is not remembered, soon I have to shorten my password to just "psw" 2) Search page ends in text: "Fatal error: Call to a member function childNodes() on a non-object in /home/content/t/i/m/timdthomas/html/Waymarking/wmlist.php on line 62 " This is shown after a certain waymark both when I'm logged in and not. So the next waymark may be the culprit?
  5. No caches for some time. Chrome, Win7, GS server is web03.
  6. I just noticed that the response for viewing images in logs is really slow. When I open the image into a new tab, it is still slow, but if I remove "/display" from the link, the image loads without noticeable delay. Slow: http://img.geocaching.com/cache/log/display/7c43148e-5b0f-46b7-aafe-14f296d66bfd.jpg Not slow: http://img.geocaching.com/cache/log/7c43148e-5b0f-46b7-aafe-14f296d66bfd.jpg During the time I was looking for this thread and writing this, the slowness went away
  7. Bottom line though: glad it went well and you all had fun. That's what we do this for, isn't it? On top of the 12 events we had a flashmob kind of event and walked around the statue of a famous author pondering about the deeper meaning of IT all (http://coord.info/GC33A4D) " Does it make any sense any longer? Schedule: 12 December, 2012, from 9 p.m. sharp to 9.12 p.m. 1st task: To walk'n'meet around the object discussing the question above with the fellow participants. Please greet the fellow participants as well as their opinions with a sympathetic nod. 2nd task: At 9.10 p.m. to sit down for a couple of minutes imitating the object and ponder, what does the word 'it' stand for in the question. " And also this 13th event for the day was very popular and a great success
  8. Looks like there may be a problem with the maps at the moment as I have the same problem here. And again Windows 7, latest Chrome and Firefox browsers show a map without a single cache.
  9. I guess this was a good choice for an upgrade moment, since everyone is over there is following the elections.
  10. At least the server sw-build was updated from : web.hotfix_20121016.3 (?) to web.hotfix_20121030.1. Whatever the content of the fix???
  11. Normally with only the cache location, the second map is zoomed to level 14. If there are additional waypoints and they are very close together, the map is zoomed in too much to be helpful. I guess this was a fix for showing all distant waypoints on that map. But I would prefer the maximum zoom to be 14 (the same as a cache without any additional waypoints). See for example Geoween
  12. Both Top level and My profile Community/Forums work fine over here. Maybe just another server hick up?
  13. Everything seems normal, except that the distance from home to the cache location is missing. It used to be in the same box as the coordinates.
  14. I have been using POIs instead of GPXs. All the POIs are visible on the map, but under waypoints/extras/ all the POI categories are as separate "folders" and sorted by distance. I do not know of an easy way to convert GPX files into POIs (there might be). Maybe GSAK?
  15. For me it is still working almost perfectly. Sometimes there is a block of caches that don't "light up", but zooming and panning fixes them, too. FWIW I'm using "Geocaching Map Enhancements 0.6.0" extension, which might have a positive effect on my mapping experience. But a few days ago, even GME was totally unresponsive to mouse hover. So, please, don't fix it. It's working!
  16. It started working Thanks for the fix!
  17. That's too easy, even Homer would get it
  18. It would be less confusing to to have "Delete All Field Notes" and "Delete Selected Field Notes" instead of the current labels "Clear All Field Notes" and "Bulk Delete"
  19. With no disrespect, I cannot understand the above sentence. So I'm just curious about what is done by whom. I googled "exacerbates" and got: " 3rd person singular present of exacerbate Make (a problem, bad situation, or negative feeling) worse: "the forest fire was exacerbated by the lack of rain". " Maybe the English down under is too different from the one I've been taught up here close to the Polar Circle? Or then that's too big a word for non-native English speakers (at least for me).
  20. Sorry, I have no idea. It works fine for me (Win7, Chrome) But I found an issue(?). The images in the gallery are dated with the day they were uploaded, not with the log's date. Has this always been so? (Sorry for hijacking the thread)
  21. If you (support@Groundspeak.com) do not wish to receive myriads of emails complaining about the missing souvenir, 1) please, respond to these reports 2) then fix the problem 'cause it's the International geocaching day I think geocachers across any pond are entitled to it!
  22. Thanks for fixing the issue (open multiple cache listings from the map) in this weeks release
  23. I have an unpublished cache. I changed it to an event. I couldn't add "may require wading". So, I changed the type to traditional and was able to add wading attribute. Then I changed the cache type to event, and the wading attribute was there!?
  24. @stebu, I think you're onto something here: Mapquest maps always work for me; OSM always fails if the map has been scrolled in the least. Mapquest maps makes its request of geocaching.com; OSM makes its request of openstreetmap.org. How did you, and what element did you inspect? I'm wondering how that request changes when the map is first scrolled. (I'm using Chrome too.) These requests were "map.info" in Mapgeust and "9322.info" (or maybe the other map tile number) in OSM. The lattered requests failed always.
