  1. I'm having the same problem with my brand new Oregon 750 and getting live caches when out and about is the main reason why I bought this device. It's most frustrating. I hope something can be done soon to fix it. I can, however, pull a small number of caches via the WiFi connection to my Samsung Galaxy S7, but it's only the headers and doesn't show logs, hints, size, etc which isn't entirely useful. No joy with the Bluetooth connection, but it does push through messages from my phone so that part of the connection and Garmin Connect works fine...
  2. I personally find hard puzzles offputting because I'm not very good at solving them. I usually have a look to see if I can guess what the theme is. But normally I give up and forget about them. The puzzle you've set is one I've actually attempted because it looked like a multi. However, once I got there, I couldn't find anything and the cache page says that I couldn't ask for hints because that would make it unfair, so sadly I have cast that particular cache into the 'I won't bother again' pile. I enjoyed finding the previous cache which was at Danebury and it's an area I've been to a few times. Some folk relish the challenge of working them out and finding them so I'm sure more logs will appear over the next year or two.
  3. I found a cache which was in some woods that was similar to the one you're planning. There were about 30 35mm containers inside it which didn't take too long to inspect and it was placed in a location where nobody could disturb you when you were taking everything to bits. I thought it was quite good. Now, if you were to place a similar cache in an equally quiet location, I would enjoy finiding it. If it was put in an urban area, it would ruin the fun. So go for it and make sure it's a good one!
  4. It looks like a lot of effort to manually trawl through cachers' profiles. Is there someone who's good at writing programs on here who could automate such a thing? That would give you a lot more time to go caching
  5. My similar PQ failed to run yesterday (Thursday) but ran successfully today (Friday).
  6. For me, the problem seems to lie with not receiving notifications on local caches within a few miles from home, but cache notifications over that distance will arrive in my inbox fine! Grrr....
  7. It bears the hallmark of someone with a personal gripe against the reviewers. And yet again, we the cachers will suffer from the outfall
  8. There are some pretty good SideTracked caches around which aren't micros and are in decent locations near to the station buildings and platforms. But micros are generally ideal for such places... And I think common sense needs an input here... Network Rail, as stated by a previous poster, are naturally going to assume that caches have been placed 'on or about the line' and are rightly concerned. But are they going to see that the majority of caches have been hidden well away from the line itself and needn't cause any concern, from both a safety and a security angle? The rest of the letter needs to be shown to the reviewers as soon as possible so Network Rail can take this sorry saga into context and we can all relax. If not, there could well be a mass archival of SideTracked caches thanks to one individual who took the law into their own hands. And we have to remember that older SideTracked caches are still in place on railway premises.
  9. Cool, I'll have to do that cache. Sounds like brilliant fun. And the OP's cache in Kent when it gets published. I do like a challenge occasionally...
  10. You mean this one Cache Rings ? I think there are a few more that can be added to it now.
  11. Mine seems to be loose (Garmin Vista HCX) but I don't know if I can bear to be without it for 4 days, let alone 10 !
  12. I seem to be getting my cache owner logs through ok, but the new cache notification emails are very hit and miss at times. Only 3 out of 19 local ones came through on Monday night, despite all 19 being published. They still haven't arrived (it's now Wednesday morning). Nothing in the junk / spam folder.
  13. Ah, I was just looking at that too. As I use GSAK and (try to) maintain an offline database, it's not going to be useful for me. Thanks.
  14. I've had similar problems with my Palm TX which got progressively worse as more data became loaded onto it. Eventually, it bacame unusable. So now, it sits in a draw without anyone willing to help me get it working again. I now use a BlackBerry or a laptop.
  15. Well done. I only needed two of them to complete the set, but I hadn't got around to planning my return trip to the island yet.
  16. I have a Free Loader which I got free with a magazine. I've used it a couple of times to charge mobiles with and it seems to work ok. Have tried to charge it from the sun on my windowsill but it has taken a while with the limited amount of sunlight recently. Charges up quickly via USB though! Looks like it will come in handy on caching / camping trips later this year.
