  1. BLUSH !!! NO ! When it comes to caching I am ok, when it comes to technology In am not ! Thanks
  2. Having got fed up of the lost and found banner and the suggestion in another thread that addblock + solves the situation I first installed firefox and then addblock and bingo !!! WOW ! Thank you Now the big question:- Over the last year I have seen plenty of add ons that people have implemented for geocaching.com and firefox Has anyone got a list so I can see what else I am missing out on ? Thanks
  3. Looks like everyone else hates it also I hope it disappears... Its horrid !
  4. At the top of every list of logs is a lost and found banner.... Is it just me that can see it, or does everyone get it... The idea of being a premium member is not to have adverts !!! Can we get rid of it or have I got a virus ? Cheers
  5. Puzzle caches can be easy or vicious.... The one you are looking at has 4 star difficulty. See top of page. Even after 7 years I have major problems with 4 star difficulty puzzle caches and I think I know all the tricks in the book to solve them. Firstly go and hunt for some traditionals, get those out of the way, then progress to multi's and then puzzles and the other types. Find a 1 star puzzle to start with, and dont forget, go to a cache meet and you will find a bunch of the most helpful people who will bend over backwards to help you out and give you advice.. Good luck, go and find the first few and bingo you will be hooked HH
  6. Except a Puzzle cache has to have a Final Location, which is listed on the cache page as a hidden Additional Waypoint. Which means the location is Fixed! So how long do you think it would take, before some one reported it. If it wasn't at the Fixed Coordinates? Deci There is always someone who spoils the fun !!!
  7. You placed it? I though it was the Mega Event Committee that had placed it? In fact, apparently, they have placed 3! Yes I Placed it !!! I created the Mega committee account!
  8. What about top ten cachers who have placed Mega events... I have placed 1... Am I on the top ten list as there have only been 2 (so far)
  9. The newly announed Travel Bug Packpacker that has just been anounced in this weeks Groundspeak news letter..... If I am not mistaken this is a "cookoo" travelling cache in another name that was previously banned and now only a couple survive under the grandfathered rules... Maybe there is hope for virtuals to return possibly named "non placed traditionals" or locationless (Reverse) caches to re-appear as "dont go there to the co-ords you wont find it" There is hope yet !
  10. After writing one for the First UK Mega In Harrogate which was a tour of the surrounding area (with a twist which caught a lot of people out - and still does) my advice is DON'T !!! LOL ! Seriously They are a fantastic addition if written well and not just a tour but the program to write could do with a vast improvement. I just wish that more are written and published, everyone that does one seems to enjoy them. Ask if you get stuck... Robin
  11. Just thought I would add my little bit As a cacher for 7 years now, yes I get up out of bed in the morning and start to swear about micros hidden in woods, lack of thought about this new cache thats just appeared, and all those other items that appear time after time in the forums that people hate..... THEN I think of the plus's for the "game" as mentioned by Deci above FRIENDS I currently have so many friends that warmly great me everwhere (yesterday in halifax was a prime example.. my name was shouted out numerous times) I appear and some extreemly close friends, so much so that I have been on holiday with them, been out for meals with them, even employed them !!! For me its now having an extended family with the added advantage of getting out in the fresh air and having a walk ! Yes its not the same game as when I started, yes I remember Seasider drive all the way from Blackpool to Harrogate just because it was his nearest unfound... he even set off when only 4 of the 5 caches in the series had been placed, with the hope that the 5th (the final) might be published later that day ! Happy Birthday Geocaching and thank you for my past 7 years with my new found friends, and I look forward to the next 7 (10 years) and those new friends I will encounter in this game/hobby of geocaching in whatever form it may hold. Robin p.s. thankyou for 1000+ friends who came to see me at the Mega in harrogate !
  12. Good luck to you all and if you need any help just ask Robin (Harrogate Hunters - AKA first UK mega organiser)
  13. Yes certainly... EXCELLENT !!! See you all in Jersey at the cache meet !
  14. I am arriving on 1st June at 9.15 and have the remainder of that day and all the next (2nd) and fly out 3rd June... So What can I do to see your Island / St Helier at its best for this small amount of time ? Best history, best scenery, best geocache (s). I am relying on public transport and staying in a B&B in St Helier (or should I hire a car ?) P.s. Somewhere to eat in St Helier for the two nights a recommendation would be also great.... Thanks in advance for your suggestions
  15. In a magazine arrived today from Nidderdale AONB (Area or Outstanding Beauty) I see a couple of organised geocaching events... "Advanced Geocaching - Thruscross Sun 24th Locate a suitable spot to plant a new Nidderdale AONB cache and guide yourself to other nearby caches. Prior knowledge of geocaching essential. For over 7's only. Meet exact details on booking. £3 per adult, under 16's free. Bring packed lunch 2-3 small gifts for the caches and a GPS" I understand that private events using geocaching.com listed caches was not allowed, or organised events. What is the difference between this organisation that seems to be promoting geocaching in the countryside and a private company making profits. Where is the devide ? Can I have the moderators and others views
  16. The week before the mega I shall be in the black forest region of germany.... you are quite welcome to join me there between piratemania and the mega
  17. Congrats to you all..... It seems you are now all hooked, good luck, but I am afraid there is no cure.... I caught the bug back in 2003 and never looked back.... Now you try booking a holiday without www.geocaching.com/map !!!
  18. I am popping out to the alps tomorrow and have promiced to replace a log book in one of the local caches... can someone give me a link to a suitable log sheet I can printout to take... ta
  19. Not exactly timed per hour but I once did 60 in 3 hours, but I was cheating...... I went to the states and had a drive around a town called York.... Not as nice a town as ours but I soon got to know it !!! They are on every street corner over there ! Not that its all about the numbers.... Like everyone else its normally 2.5 per hour if I am on a numbers day !
  20. Cache in a drainpipe........... Now who would want to do that : :)
  21. and why are the "automagically" deleted after 7 days ? LOL
  22. Go on then can some one explain what this new function does ?
  23. Having had my Garmin Colorado 300 now for 15 months, I had a slight problem... overuse !!! The connector into which you plug the computer cable became loose within the unit... A quick call to Garmin helpline (a person on the end of a telephone) and I was asked to send the unit back... That was Monday... today I received a brand new unit with compliments of Garmin !!! Now thats what I call service. Well done chaps... ! (I will mention I have no connection with garmin, I dont work for them etc etc.)
