  6. At last months dinner, the subject was brought up about having another geocaching picnic. I think it is a great idea, but I am afraid I won't be able to put it together this year. It seemed at the dinner that most people wanted to do it earlier this year to avoid the heat that we had at last years picnic. (good idea I think) My daughter is expecting a baby the first of June so I know for the first few weeks I will be very busy with her other daughter and helping out. The last week in June I will be out of town for about a week. The first of July, I am throwing a wedding shower for my daughter's best friend. We have friends coming to visit the second and third week in July and then the first of August a wedding... I hope I get some caching in this year I hope someone will be able to put a picnic together this year for our group. It was a great time last year, and sure it would be again this year.

  8. Well, your close Ron, but not exactly. The "REAL" coordinates will not be known to anyone but the person who it "IT". You may post where you found the cache, but the coordinates where you place the cache will be emailed to the next "IT". I suppose I could post the last coordinates once the cache has been moved, but I don't think the real coordinates should ever be posted. Everyone will have to generate their own map.

  10. quote:Originally posted by The 19th: On the Tag Cache page, you mentioned, "Your job as "IT", is to find the cache using the coordinates you have been given and any map YOU create." What do you mean by "using...any map YOU create?" I'm just a little confused by that part of it. --- Lawrence I would put something funny here, but not now. The coordinates of the cache will not be put up on the geocaching web page. The correct coordinates will be emailed to the person that is "IT". Therefore, no map will be created by MapQuest automatically. You will have to take the coordinates that are sent to you when you are "IT" and plug the correct coordinates it to a sight like Topo Zone (or some other map sight) to create your own map... Make sense???

  12. The Tag game is up and running! It took some changes and a little compromise to get it approved, but it is now a game and the first "It" is about to be randomly selected. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=21290

  18. I read the tick ambush posts a couple of nights ago and got the willies. Today I went geocaching and discovered we have attack ticks also. My geocaching partner, for the day, jumped off of a log to another log and it crumbled under his feet. We both ended up in tall grass with crumbled oak tree on all sides......and a hideout for attack ticks. They seemed to enjoy my light colored clothing more than Doc's. I stopped counting at six and flicked a few off Doc as well. YUCK!!! The ticks are alive and well this year. Luckily I wore a hat.....came home and submerged for over an hour....did a scan and came out with a clean bill of health. My question is this???? Light colored clothing or dark colored clothing???? Does it make a difference??? Gotta go scratch

  20. Below is a list from zip code 95765. Dicks Garage, Hers, His, Theirs and Twin Oaks Greenbelt are all in Rocklin. Theirs will be replaced in a few days, it was destroyed by raccoons. All of these caches are fairly easy for families to do. Dicks Garage can be a little tricky because of tree cover, but the terrain is easy. Raccoons Revenge was placed by 17 year old boys (my son and best freind) it requires climbing, but nothing more than most boys do anyhow. Ferns of Secret Ravine, Tool Time and Movie Magic (and a few others) are over near Rocky Ridge Road (Roseville Hospital) They are nice walks and very pretty areas, however there is some poison oak in the area...as a matter of fact, there is poison oak everywhere this time of year so you need to be careful. These caches are very nice and fairly easy to find. Fear is a night time cache that was recently placed. With a group it is an excellent night cache. It requires some brain power and flashlights and walkie talkies, but it is great fun for cachers. Road Trip and Red, White and Blue are in a small Loomis area park up Taylor Road. These are great caches that are fairly easy to spot, and an unusual quarry type park. Do I hear water, is a fun find in the Roseville area near Cirby. Kids would enjoy this one I am sure, however the creek has tricked everyone (almost). Mission Impossible is a toughie....it is a good one to put the kids on however if you don't mind driving around a bit. It has a matrix puzzle in the end that had many of us pulling our hair out. A big kid figured it out in the end for our team. All in all there are many good caches in our area. I would be happy to help you in any way I can. There are several cachers in our area. Orangevale has some excellent caches placed by Jose. U-Haul being one of the most inventive multi caches. Orangevale park is a great place to go. Let me know if I can be of any more help. I would be happy to babysit some caches for you if needed. 11/7/2001 0.54mi SW (0.9km) "His (Dick's Garage)" by Cpnmidnite (GC26FC) (California) last found 4/5/2002 2.5/2.5 [details] download 11/3/2001 0.15mi SE (0.2km) "Racoon's Revenge" by "McMonkeyboy" & Plus One <"[ )~ [GC263A) (California) last found 4/11/2002 4/2.5 [details] download 3/9/2002 0.42mi SW (0.7km) "Twin Oaks Greenbelt" by Team Beerquest II (GC40A5) (California) last found 4/20/2002 2/2 [details] download 2/23/2002 3.02mi S (4.9km) "Ferns of Secret Ravine" by The Barbers (GC3C8A) (California) last found 4/4/2002 2/1 [details] download 9/30/2001 3.14mi S (5.1km) "Tool Time" by The Barber family (GC1FDF) (California) last found 4/3/2002 2.5/2 [details] download 4/19/2002 3.41mi S (5.5km) "Fear" by Jose (GC4EDC) (California) last found 4/20/2002 4.5/4.5 [details] download 8/19/2001 3.65mi SW (5.9km) "Ridgewood's Hideout" by The Barber family (GC178F) (California) last found 3/29/2002 1.5/1 [details] download 7/15/2001 3.78mi S (6.1km) "Movie Magic" by Jose, TrackerJen (GC10C6) (California) last found 4/20/2002 3/2 [details] download 10/2/2001 3.83mi S (6.2km) "Happy Trails 2 U!" by thebarbers (GC203C) (California) last found 4/5/2002 2.5/2 [details] download 8/6/2001 4.65mi S (7.5km) "Mission: Impossible" by Jose, TrackerJen (GC151A) (California) last found 4/20/2002 5/2 [details] download 7/21/2001 4.8mi W (7.7km) "Alcatraz" by Jose, TrackerJen (GC11D3) (California) last found 4/2/2002 4/2 [details] download 8/12/2001 4.89mi W (7.9km) "Suburban Secret" by The Barber family (GC1664) (California) last found 4/3/2002 1/1.5 [details] download 4/11/2002 5.12mi S (8.2km) "Do I hear water?" by movieguy (GC4C15) (California) last found 4/25/2002 2/2.5 [details] download 8/11/2001 5.39mi SW (8.7km) "Pheasant in the Trees" by The Barber family (GC15CC) (California) last found 4/2/2002 1/1 [details] download 2/2/2002 5.86mi NE (9.4km) "Red White and Blue" by Jeo and Mc5 (GC3716) (California) last found 4/19/2002 2/3 [details] download 8/18/2001 5.88mi NE (9.5km) "Road Trip" by Jeo and Mc5 (GC1735) (California) last found 4/19/2002 1.5/1.5 [details] download 11/8/2001 0.57mi SW (0.9km) ""Theirs" (Rugrats)" by Cpnmidnite and McIrish (GC2718) (California) last found 3/9/2002 2/2.5 [details] download 11/7/2001 0.58mi SW (0.9km) "Hers (Girls Just Want To Have Fun)" by McIrish (GC26FB) (California) last found 4/21/2002 2.5/3 [details] download I would be happy to babysit some caches for you if needed.
