  1. Okay.... so I'm anxious to get on to the next cache!!! We'll sign all three names. Thanks for the clarification. I knew someone here would be able to help me out.
  2. Hello oh knowledgable ones!! Hubby and I are leaving on our first big geocaching roadtrip. From Illinois to Virginia Beach! Two other cachers are going with us and I'm not looking forward to signing 3 ID's in the logs. I've noticed some people sign as "Teamwhatever" . My question is, can we make up a team name and then log individually when we have access to a computer? What's the protocol here? Thanks for the info.
  3. I love geocaching! (Just had to say it.) Here's an online article I wrote that tells people what a great area South Eastern Illinois is to cache in. Wasn't sure how to send it to Groundspeak to get in the weekly notices, so I thought I'd post it here. If anyone knows where to send it, please forward the link on. Thanks. http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/7...s_hightech.html
  4. I purchased CityNavigator North America NT and have installed it on my first GPS. How do I get a 2nd unlock code to install on the other GPS? I have read here somewhere that I can do that, but I'm not having any luck. Anyone have a solution for me, or a number to call that will cooperate??
  5. I called Garmin and they walked me through it. Said my micro SD card had issues. So he unloaded it and then reloaded it and now it works fine. Thank heavens! Thanks to everyone for their suggestions.
  6. Uhh, wilderness walker didn't say he was rich! But i agree, the proper mapping software, some memory, 12v adapter, and GSAK are all good investments. I also invested in the Legend HCX which I've been very pleased with. I bought the maps and a micro SD card to hold them, premium membership, Cachemate, a cheap Palm pilot on ebay, GSAK so that I can do paperless caching. I'm still getting the hang of it all, but feel like I'm pretty much set. I've got about $430 invested in our new hobby. It's worth the expense. Have fun.
  7. I've checked this and can't find where my City Navigator Maps are listed at all. UGH.
  8. Yes I have made sure the card is in place correctly. When you press down on it, it clicks into place. Then when you press again, it pops up to eject.
  9. I have a Garmin Etrex Legend HCx and purchased City Navigator North America 2008 NT and downloaded the states maps to it. It was working fine. I have used it several times since and it worked great. Yesterday, I went to use it and the maps are gone. It's back to only the base map that it came with. I tried changing batteries, restarting, took out the SD card and put it back in. I don't know what else to do. Is there some setting that needs changed? Help!!!!
  10. I knew that someone here would have the answer! I checked and sure enough, the other ones are there. I just went to "find" and searched for one by name that I knew would not be in the 50 closest. So they are there, but it just wasn't showing them all to me. thanks for the quick help!!!
  11. i just purchased a Garmin etrex legend hcx. I already have set up GSAK and Cachemate (thanks to this forum!!) I have run a pocket query and have downloaded the appropriate GPX files to my desktop. All 100 waypoints loaded onto my palm pilot, but only 50 are loading onto the GPS. I reloaded them, but still, only 50 show up. I do not have an Micro SD card yet to load my map info onto but am ordering it tomorrow. Any suggestions as to why only 50 are loading? Can this have anything to do with the lack of memory card? Surely, this GPS has enough memory for this many caches. I thought it was supposed to be able to hold 1000? Thanks for your help!
