  1. Hi Arlo (I'm using your signed name and not the one you want to change) hehehe. We had our login/username changed. Use the directions provided in the previous message. All our contacts were via email and they were very accommodating. One day we woke up and all was changed. Just one suggestion. Think about it very carefully as we would have even done it different than this 2nd chance if we had given it more thought, but will stick with this as we didn't want to go back to them again since they were so gracious.
  2. As two of the many who missed this feature, our thanks for making this effort.
  3. My husband & I were 2 of those 200 users (I don't really believe that number either). Since we are not very active on the forum, we knew nothing of this decision to kill the kml until tonight. A couple of weeks ago my husbands computer had some difficulties and resolving them required a restoral and a reinstall of Google Earth. He lost the ability to see caches in GE and we thought it was a technical problem, but we could not find the link for the kml on GC. After finding the kml in my download directory and reloading on his computer, it worked again. However tonight it is gone on both our PCs. We are fulltime RVers and used GE exclusively to "view" an area we were going to just get a quick lay of the land. Also found it invaluable for places out of the country when we are traveling abroad as you could put in a place, country name and it would fly there, letting you determine if caching would be a possibly to work into plans while visiting. Much easier than trying to come up with finer details for places with no zipcode. No this is not the end of the world and we will find other ways to work geocaching into our travels, but none as easy as this was. I'm not only sorry it is gone, I don't like the sly way it was removed and the cavalier method it was explained and the attitude. It was one of the reasons we decided to buy the premium membership.
  4. Is it possible you could have inadvertently changed from measuring miles to measuring kilometers?
  5. You've gotten so many replies, that I almost decided not to, but here goes..... 1. I started 2 1/2 years ago with the PN-20. Now you need to go there if you want to talk about battery life. It was terrible. However with the PN-40, we use both the rechargeable Li-on batteries or rechargeable Nimh. I would say 6 hours is good. Now we do keep it plugged in while driving in the jeep, unplugging when on a cache trek or hiking. Better life would be more desirable, but is tolerable now. 2. I haven't ever experienced this. We travel in our motor home 100% of the time so we've been all over the country and although I would think this could be attributed to the area you are in, we haven't found this to be an issue. 3. Nearly always get WAAS lock. 4. We keep a 16GB SD card filled with detail maps. Always have a PQ or 2 or multiple caches and routes loaded. Haven't seen this issue. 5. No knowledge on this one. 6. Just a little experience on this one. Have loaded a couple of maps acquired elsewhere and one jpg "map" with XMap for places out of country where I couldn't get anything from Delorme. Like all things, it works better the 2nd or 3rd time you do it as you get better. My experience limited, but it worked quite well for us. Don't know what else to say, we love our PN-40 and use it nearly every day.
  6. We started caching with a Delorme PN-20. Was so familiar with the Delorme mapping programs and wanted to keep that functionality. After a couple of years of caching, we moved up to the PN-40. Delorme has continued to improve and update the PN-20 and PN-40 in both firmware updates and functionality. We do TOTALLY paperless caching now and it is a breeze. All verbiage, hints and logs are downloaded to the GPS unit. You can route and find POIs as you go if you like. Once you are home, you can upload your fieldnotes showing your finds, not finds, etc. You can download PQs or individual GCs directly to the device. I love the PN-40 and still have the PN-20 for when we want to take 2 units. They are waterproof. Small enough, but big enough too.
