I just put my first cache in for review yesterday. I had originally thought it would be fun to use it as a book exchange, but some more experienced and wiser cachers advised me that I'd end up with either an empty cache or an ammo box of soggy Harlequin romance novels. So instead I logged a few novels with Bookcrossing, wrapped them in ziplocks, and sent them on their way. I kept it close to my house so that I can occasionally throw a few new novels in on my way home from work. I'm a big book nerd, so I would be thrilled to find a cache with books in it. I hope some others in the area feel the same way. Even if no one chooses to log the book with Bookcrossing, I'm only out a couple of bucks and hopefully someone will enjoy the FTF.

Thanks for the suggestion on the little free library, and for the past experiences. I think I'll save the ammo cans for something else and make the library a cache.

Hi, I'm getting ready to place my first cache, and would like to make it a book exchange. A couple of questions: Is it worth buying a trackable tag for each book? I was planning on putting a few in ammo boxes, and tracking the books through bookcrossing. I'm torn if it's worth tracking them through Geocaching as well. Any suggestions on how to write the description? I'd like to suggest that people bring a book to leave behind, but does that take the fun out of it? TIA.
