  1. Section 16.2.1 of Notice 700 aka "the VAT Guide" (viewable here) states that; It also states in 16.3.1 that; As others have stated this will be required for a B2B transaction so that we can claim the VAT back as a legitimate business expense.
  2. Apologies, i don't get The Twilight Zone reference (before my time unfortunately). I had a search on these forums before i posted, so just wondered if i was special or if it was a known problem?
  3. Hi, I've had the DRunners CacheStats bar on my profile for quite a while now. I've noticed it's been stuck at 540 for a few months now though, despite me being up to 696 caches. Cacherstats.com agrees with my count, and since it's the data source for DRunners, I would've thought it should be ok. I've tried emailing DRunners about this a month or so ago, but have had no reply, is it the same for everyone, or am i just special? Thanks in advance
  4. Just thought I'd add my tuppence worth, (not that it really needs it, as most things have been said already), but from a local point of view, I live in Epping, so know the area well. I believe the reviewers do a grand and thankless job, and have certainly helped me with a question or two and guidance for when I have placed my few caches. Granted I would love to place a cache or two in the forest, in fact I have one in build that would suit being in the forest, but being an SSSI they have to stick to their rules I personally have completed 30+ of geekyninja's caches, and if I'm totally honest, some of the locations aren't the best I have been too, but at the same time I can see what he has tried to do, i.e. adding caches to an area somewhat lacking. You will never be able to please everyone with regards to where they are placed! Going slightly off topic, but I'm currently trying to talk with the head keeper for Epping Forest with regards to permission for caches within the forest. I believe part of the SSSI status for the forest comes from rare forms of mushroom which have been found growing within the forest, the forest giving the ideal and delicate balance for these mushrooms to grow. Understandably they want to protect this, and thus far from what I can make out, they have only seen geocaching as a destructive activity as they imagine people trampling and bush-whacking their way off the paths In my line of work, I do some work for an organisation that has close ties with Natural England, so I will also try and get a contact that I can speak with there, to get an input from them also. I am hoping to propose to the rangers/keepers that we setup a test geocache which can be monitored with a view to change their minds about geocaching and hopefully move forward with permission. Wish me luck! Anyway, I digress, thanks for reading.
  5. Cheers for the ideas so far folks, I have half an idea how I will do it, but always open to suggestions. I have mailed digdug123 also to see if they can provide any pointers
  6. I had considered 2 containers, but i guess it will probably help if i explain the cache a little more... The container itself will have an electronic puzzle/game of sorts built into it, which on successfully completing/beating the puzzle/game, it will unlock the container by use of a servo motor, hence the self locking on close ready for the next use.
  7. I'm currently part way through a build of my latest geocache, but my google-fu is failing me when it comes to researching a container to put the item in. I'm wondering if the collective hive minds of my fellow GeoCachers have come across a container/box/tin/whatever that can satisfy the following; - is waterproof (or can be made waterproof!) - will self lock when its lid is closed, with no need for assistance with this from the outside? I'm thinking of some type of spring loaded catch that rides over and then catches on the far side of a cam or similar on the inside (think of an L sliding down the slope of a 4 and then catching underneath as a means to auto lock?) The self locking is the important part, which is where im am struggling on what to search for. I'm quite happy to adapt something off the shelf thats almost perfect if possible, before i start to reinvent the wheel and make something from scratch Thanks in anticipation
  8. As per the title, just gauging interest at this point for a nighttime caching event. If theres enough interest then we'll get the wheels in motion, but for now, we're looking for numbers interested, suitable dates and locations. Hopefully, we can plan somewhere with enough caches to entertain everyone from those that want to do a few to those that want to cache all night long, all coupled with a suitable base of operations (read 'public house'). Looking to organise this within the Essex/Herts area or nearby.
  9. TheEssexKellys/ClaireLouise, Feel free to give me a shout if you want a third pair of hands.
  10. Currykev: thanks for the pm, have replied ForsdykeFinders: We'd be happy to join you on the Stort series, (just need to get my buckled wheel sorted this week), if you let us know when you intend to go, we can make plans to meet As for the Latton Wood series, it was raining when we started and it only got heaver, so when we didnt actually find the church one, we moved on to the others, we actually started at the location for the 4th, and believed we actually looked in the right place (from the spoiler pic that i saw afterwards) but we then decided to go to the furthest away (no 2) and then do no 1 from there onwards planning to go back this weekend to do again It would also be good to compare my n95 with tomtom and bluetooth gps to a proper gpsr for comparison which is what im using till i decide what unit to buy. ClareLouise: would also be happy to join you sometime, have sent you a pm paganfrog: Feel free to give us a shout when your in this neck of the woods
  11. Hiya, Ive found a few caches now (5) and failed on several also, lol, so im asking if there are any geocachers within the Harlow, Essex and surrounding areas that wouldnt mind an interested newbie tagging along. Id like to see how you guys go about it, what to look out for etc, to make the experiene for me and my kids a whole lot more enjoyable when we actually have a better success rate
  12. As per the title, im after a foretrex 101 or 201, to start off with on our early days of geocaching, the cheapest i have found so far is £60 incl p&p, can anyone better this or supply a site link i can buy one from? (Im in the UK btw if it wasnt obvious from the £ above)
  13. thanks for the tips so far guys, i have a usb->serial adaptor already as i use it a lot for my $dayjob, so serial isnt an issue, high sensitivity would obviously be a bonus, as a lot of caches nearby are in forests/etc. ill also have a lookout for the ventue hc/60csx
  14. Hiya, im pretty new to all of this geocaching lark, and have a found a couple of caches now, using my n95, but its not ideal, so im looking at a proper unit. ideally im after something i can use whilst on my bikes (motor and push) and also on foot. so far im looking at either the foretrex 101 or 201, can anyone provide me with their opinions on these units, or any alternatives for the the same £70 ish price bracket?
