  1. Sorry this is a completely unworkable suggestion. Our office is clearly in Leicestershire yet the postcode is CV10 and the post town is Nuneaton in Warwickshire. All too confusing. Philip And our Postcode is PL - Plymouth in Devon - Yet we're in COrnwall *Mutters muchly* YET - I feel we need to draw to a conclusion quicklyish or we'll miss the opportunity to have the Counties option at all. Yet when we search , we do use postcodes don`t we ?? All that is needed is a list of counties which is nearest to those post codes doesnt have to be exact just get you into the rough area , after all , its the co-ords that count isnt it ?
  2. Which list falls in with the Postcodes ? Thats obviously the way to go because as was mentioned the Post Office (bless their cotton socks ) have not changed hugely for a while apart from things like Wirral postcodes back to original CH
  3. Finding a cache properly is a matter of personal pride , if someone takes the time to find a good hiding place then why would you cheat ? If it`s all for numbers then I`m well behind Why worry about the ghost cachers ? the only ones they`re fooling are themselves
  4. What was Bill Gates quote about " all the memory you`ll ever need " ?
  5. there are some really petty people in here sometimes if you don`t like a thread , make a point, then shut up and go away unless of course you`re just being picky for the sake of it nuff said ps could be worse ........ could be american forum
  6. If you are just caching then why dont you buy a Garmin base model like an Etrex or Etrex H they are about £95 GBP( 190USD) possibly cheaper in the US . they`ll do the job , if you enjoy it you can always trade up at a later date , and prob find the better units have dropped in price
  7. Thanks for the info guys didn`t know that new mapset overwrites existing.... that is useful I`ll be right onto that
  8. Does anyone know how to reset (default) a Legend C ie settings as it came out of the box as I have loaded all sorts of " stuff" and would like to start from scratch. preferably not highly technical language ( tia ) as I am not highly technical you know what I mean guys and girls the KISS principle
  9. I `d like to see it back up & running not only cos it`s good to have a local site but also cos Teasel`s put a lot of work into it
  10. Wirral as signposted is a political definition Wirral penisula was always Cheshire with local councils and Liverpool was Lancashire before the London-based government messed about with boundaries and created these big unwieldy Metropolitan areas So.......... Wirral in that sense is as far down as the Chester boundary BTW how can I print this off as a list (checklist) ? is it possible ?
  11. Someone is getting warm at last! Is it insulation regulations? A DING for Nediam Public Service Announcement 0.35 is the figure in W/m2K that is the minimum standard of thermal insulation for a wall in a new building. If you are adding an extension it is 0.30W/m2K This figure is basically a rule of thumb. Building Regulation Approval requires Minimum Energy Performance calculations, (known as a Thermal Model) measured in the form of target CO2 emission rates along with pressure testing of the building (for air leakage). These figures form only a small part of the calculations now required. This will keep Environmental Services Engineers in employment for eons. Floor and roofs are generally 0.25W/m2K with windows at 2.2W/m2K The other figures quoted in the question are for uninsulated cavity wall construction (1.55) and solid brickwall construction (2.09, i.e. a Victorian terrace house) I am currently specifying Argon filled double glazed units that are 1.1W/m2K which compared to the two previous, you really could have had a glass house and used less fuel. The problem with all this insulation, and especially for large buildings, although it does apply to houses, is in keeping them cool! The heat transfer coefficient (U- value) is the amount of heat in watts per unit of time, which is transferred through 1 sq.m of wall surface per degree Kelvin difference between internal and external temperature. (("The problem with all this insulation, and especially for large buildings, although it does apply to houses, is in keeping them cool! )) Reading through noticed this ....... Pilkington "k" glass will actually help keep rooms cool in summer . apparently an unexpected side effect of the coating to help retain heat for double glazed windows I know , I know .......I`m miles behind here
  12. Etrex Legend C Does the biz for me , good battery life , backup batts double it one question , does anyone know how to reset an Etrex ?
