  1. Godwin's Law invoked. Actually, those Jeremy uses that phrase a lot, it has nothing to do with Nazi or Hitler. It has to do with people who make rules that others have to live by. That is why I also refered to them as TBCops and TBPolice. The difference is that some people are going beyond law enforcement and becoming Law writers. Hm. Without taking sides or commenting on the merits of any side of the discussion....just an observation: Is there a difference between complaining about and calling someone a "TB Cop" or the "Gestapo" because you don't like them dictating "their rules" to you as to how to play the game, and YOU (the universal "you") DICTATING how to play the game, or "your rules" how THEY should play the game? Aren't you doing the very thing you are complaining about? And some people wonder why I dropped out of the local discussion list. Some folks are just downright mean to each other. It ain't worth it.
  2. Wow, what a gorgeous canyon, Lightfoot. It looks alot like West Clear Creek. Which canyon is it? Trisha "Lightning" Prescott www.ycjp.org
  3. I have found that most folks who have not been to AZ think that it is ALL flat (relatively), desert, cactus, etc... About half the state is higher elevation, either high-desert ranchland or forested pines. We get SNOW in the winter too! The highest mountains are above 12,000 feet near Flagstaff (sorry, no cactus up there). Around Prescott, we live at 5,100 ft. and the mountains are up to 7,900 feet. We have 4 seasons (winter snow/rain, beautiful spring, partly HOT and partly monsoon-thunderstorm rainy summer, and gorgeous fall) and yes, even some cactus amongst the pines! (See 'Baby Barrel Cactus' cache SW of Prescott) No, I don't work for the Chamber of Commerce!
  4. YOUR Sanity? I'm worried enough about my own!! TPBM is NOT from California OR Texas...
  5. Hope to see a bunch of AZ cachers at the Prescott Breakfast Cache Event on Saturday !! GCGW7T Come on up and enjoy the mountains, cooler weather, the Yavapai County Fair and the company of a bunch of other addicted geocachers.
  6. I just read all these silly things....and noticed TPAM is the one who I just teased on the az list serv, sorry B. TPBM will wonder "who the heck is TPAM?"
  7. Sorry for the double post, Internet is quirky in the rain today!
  8. I am YCJP SAR but I work almost exclusively in the incident command center on the radios. I am disabled. Don't assume too much when you don't know someone!
  9. Hi, Desert Viking posted a link to this discussion, so I took a look at the cache page. Don't be too surprised or critical that a cache near Sedona isn't found right away, that is common in rural AZ. I've been caching for over 2 years and have seen this all the time. Also, making it a Member's Only limits it greatly. There are not that many active cachers who live in Sedona, a few in Prescott and Flag, but most are in Phoenix. The pics are beautiful, and i wish I could go after this cache, but I doubt I canhandle the hike. One last thing, a "Ziplock" container won't last in the weather (winter and summer). I know from experience, you'll need something more durable. Good luck! Lightning1996YCJP Prescott AZ
  10. And the local Arizona geocachers have already started to respond. If I travelled more, I would be helping too. Keep watching! Trisha "Lightning" Prescott
  11. There are a number of caches in Arizona that are on Rte 66. Can't remember them all right now...Seligman Hwy Haven, Holly Moses are two.
  12. Curious....did you remember it on your own or did someone help you out? I saw your post on our AZ email list serv.
  13. Not all of Arizona is flat, hot desert. At least half (?) is higher elevation, cooler mountains or at least high plains. Visit and cache around Prescott. You won't want to leave! Lightning Prescott AZ
  14. Just to let you know, your request has been posted on the local azgeocaching listserv, so you may have an answer soon. Love the pics! Hope you enjoyed our state. May I suggest that you could look at the Arizona cache map, retrace your route, and perhaps that will jog your memory? ~Lightning, Prescott AZ
  15. Hi Team Finn, and all the AZ and other cachers.... Looks like this thread needs some activity....Hey Finn, have you re-calculated and nabbed my "P4 Cache" yet?? Or did the snow put a damper on things? Lightning Prescott
  16. There are several good caches around the Prescott area. If you like the mountains, but not too far from town, try "Spruce Wild Goose Chase" "Highland View" "Barnes and Noble It Ain't" "All That Glitters...Isn't". (Those are some of my caches). Also "Prieta View" "Cow Patty Peak" "Two of Seven"...just about any in the Prescott area are good. It's a bit chilly and snow is expected later in the week. In town, there are some excellent caches to amuse as well. Lightning Prescott
