  1. I once picked up a trackable with the chain only. Absolutely nothing attached to it. I moved it to another cache with a log that it was a chain only with the tracking number. It is still in the cache, according to the inventory, but the logs show there are no trackables there. I wonder did someone take the chain or are people just not discovering/moving it because it is nothing but a chain with a tag. http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?id=5478090
  2. Don't do anything without getting permission from the owner. That goes for changing/doing anything with someone's cache or someone's trackable. You don't own it, so it really isn't yours to change without consent.
  3. I would go by the size of the bison tub, not the birdhouse. Would you as well?
  4. The locomotive is just about 2 cars. Not that large. I used a garmin and believe the coordinates to be accurate. Additionally, I used the android app and it takes me right to it. The hint also gives it away, I think.
  5. I will also change my description about perfect for the little ones.
  6. Thank you both. I didn't realize a key holder was a micro. I thought micro's were those tiny things, like screws. I will change this... and my other key holder caches to micros.
  7. I have a cache that is in a park. The cache is at an old, black train. I have a black magnetic key holder that I have hidden on the back of one of the many spaces available on the train, so it is a black on black behind a bar of the train. It requires you to bend over, get under the step, near the wheel and run your hand along the bar to find it. I initially had a difficulty of 2 because I gave a good hint. I moved it up to 3 after some had difficulty and have since moved it up to a 4 since a couple of logs indicated 3 experienced cachers searched for some time and had to use a special tool to find it. I suppose since it is black on black with tons of possible places it could be, it is a difficulty. Would you rate it a 4 based on this? Advice and opinions appreciated. https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC60GT1_folsom-prison-blues
  8. Sorry. English is not my native language. 6 traditional
  9. I decided since this is a travel bug hotel I would take the advice here and make it a premium only cache. I have resisted doing that because I feel as though people shouldn't have to pay to participate, particularly if it is a child and the parent may be resistant to put any money into the game. Also, poorer people would not be able to participate as much. However, since this does have trackables, I do see the logic in this.
  10. When I click on his name in my logs, an option comes up to send him a message (not an email, a message). I did so without difficulty. What is a free muggle app? I don't get that. Do you mean folks get on the app and muggle the caches and bugs? LOL Makes me sad for the trackable owners.
  11. Yes, I am firmly convinced I visited a haunted geocache site. Also, another person had a similar experience at the site. I went to the site. A beautiful, old church. I walked all the way around the church looking for a cache. When I was at the site where my GPS was showing the cache, I got on my hands and knees. The church was on pillars and it was easy to get under the church. I actually crawled under the building a little, despite it not having that high of a difficulty rating. I continued looking all around in this one place. Got up. Walked around the church one last time, and when I was just leaving, I glanced down at the place where I had looked thoroughly and there it was. It was like it had just been placed there after I had looked. I cautiously signed the log and got out of there. I had a very eerie feeling, like I was being watched. I won't be going back. https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC5R2WH_2015-aff-selma-methodist-church
  12. I have a travel bug hotel. I try to keep watch over it and add travel bugs. A new user came to my cache and logged his visit. I was worried about the bugs because he didn't say anything about them, but I was hoping for the best. Today I checked on them and both bugs are gone and in their place 2 swag items. I wrote to the user and to the owners and marked the bugs missing. I feel a sense of responsibility because they were lost in my cache. I'm hoping for the best and that the new user has them and just didn't know about how to log them.
  13. I have hidden 4 geocaches.(My newest one today) I've tried to make them appealing and check on them periodically. I am in a rural area, but there are lots of rural caches in this part of the state. I have few finds since I hid the oldest ones from August. Some of the caches around here, unfortunately, are forgotten, neglected caches and I fear that has turned people off to my area. There are a few geocachers that do maintain their caches, but I'm trying to increase traffic and give people a reason to stop off here. Do you have any suggestions? Will they eventually come... especially if I hide a few more that will make it worth the trip? Tips appreciated.
  14. Your TB Resort still has prison-like language, even though you do say "please." It is not very nice to try to keep TBs in a cache, no matter what you call it; TBs are meant to travel, not to languish in caches. I agree that you should let people take more than one travel bug if they want to. The purpose is to keep them moving. I have seen a cache before that was a TB hotel where the owner asked that only travel bugs be placed. No other swag was allowed. It would make for a disappointing cache if no travel bugs were there. No travel bugs, no swag.... just an empty container.
  15. Ok. On Bah Bah, it first shows up as being taken to the event, then the next entry says "placed in". So, it is still on the last person's possession even though it shows up as being in a cache with this event's name? Shouldn't it show up as in someone's possession? Another trackable has an entry "I'm dropping it here for it's first journey". It seems confusing if the person still has the trackable. These trackables are also showing under the state's listing of most recently placed trackables.

  17. Could be. (But not necessarily at the coordinates) Or they are cachers own TBs, and they still have them in their possession for others to Discover. Yes, I've been at events for people to discover the trackables, but this event is over and there are travel bugs listed and some of the travel bugs indicate they have been put in the event cache. For example, on the link, if you click on Bah Bah, she shows up as in the event cache, not in someone's possession.
  18. This may have been answered but I don't see any topic like this. If a group of travel bugs are in an event cache from the weekend, does that mean a container has been put out with those travel bugs at the listed coordinates? Fired up for Geocaching was in Arkansas this past weekend and travel bugs are listed there. http://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC5YNMQ_fired-up-for-geocaching-2015?guid=39cdee64-171e-47c6-bd35-9ce5b7079a79
  19. No, because on both of the trackables the last logs are Discovered It logs.
  20. As a person that loves trackables, I always look in my state's forum section to see the latest trackables dropped. 2 that are currently showing up in the Arkansas section are Between the 2 Towers and GPS Adventure Arkansas Museum of Discovery caches. When I go to look at those caches, both are archived. How is this possible?
  21. Did it start with "GC"? That could be the Cache Event. I have name buttons and I sometimes wrote the Event's cache number on the back as a kind of souvenir, and dropped it in a nearby cache container after the Event. I've confused many people with that, since a cache number is not actually a tracking number. It created so much chaos, I don't do that anymore . Any stray numbers found in a cache seem to create mass confusion. But if a coin has a tracking number that works, don't worry if it has other numbers that don't. You've logged it. You're OK. Some cachers do put all the same tracking number on a bunch of items, then place them in caches (or hand them out at Events). Geocaching.com says that it's up to the Owner to "delete any bogus logs" . If the Owner says you may keep it, I hope you place a nice item in trade. If you really like the item, place something in trade that you think cachers will really like. This sounds like a trackable of some sort and if so, no trade is necessary. Maybe a kind of signature item. One of many things which will have nothing placed in trade when it gets removed from the game. And then sold. I think I understand what it is now. It mistakenly had the banner tracking number put on the wooden token, as stated by the owner when I wrote to her. The other number is the id for the event. I believe it is just something you can keep or trade and people that find the other wooden tokens are logging them on the banner's tracking page.
  22. Have you heard of a crackable before? I found a wooden token from an event in 2012. It had a tracking number on it. When I logged it, the banner to the event came up. People from all over were logging they had discovered this, but it was in the owner's possession. It had another number on it, which I logged, and it comes up as not a valid tracking number. I wrote to the owner and she said the tracking number for the banner was accidentally placed on the tokens and the token is a crackable. No other information. Does that mean I can keep the token as there is no way to log it? Do I move it to another cache? Just wondered if anyone else has heard of this before. I will probably write to the person again and ask if it is something I can keep.
  23. As a new geocacher, I am stressing over the Difficulty 5 roadtrip souvenir. I'm going to try one this weekend and hope I get it. I want to get all the souvenirs this summer. I don't have a boat (which are some of the T5s in this area) and I'm not looking forward to a terrain 5 hike as the heat index is around 110 in south Arkansas on some days. I'm going for a difficulty 5 and hope I find it.
  24. I have seen the tracking numbers on cars, on toys, etc. I even saw a tracking number on a name tag. However, this past weekend at an event, I met a man that has tattooed a tracking number on his person. Have you ever seen or heard of that? I was fascinated. Don't think I would do that myself, but it was quite interesting.
