  1. I took a shot and changed my dashboard from the new dashboard back to the old dashboard and the problem disappeared. I could see all the data I was supposed to. I have no idea what changing dashboards' does but it certainly seems to cause issues. Now, (another problem I was having) I can print all the logs and see data on the reviewer log that I couldn't using the new dashboard. I can see the highlighted text and all data is in the source code. Very odd problem. Thanks to all that worked on this problem.
  2. I believe I have been very clear on what the problem is several times. I have not been rude, on the contrary, just the opposite. I was trying to find a possible solution that is affecting who knows how many cachers. I get comments back that generally telling me that I don't know what I talking about, it's my problem, it's something I have already posted I have tried. That's rude. Sorry for posting.
  3. Thank you to all that have looked at this profile and has worked or not for that matter. Can you give a location where you are located without being too specific?
  4. Honestly, what do you not understand? I have used now four browsers, three operating systems and 3 different computers. Who said the HTML source is intact? I said you can find the data on one. That does not mean it is working as it should. Read the entire post, the CO'ssss and I have gone through this procedure, step by step, ITS NOT working. I'm done.
  5. A profile in question that will not give the solution to the puzzle is user T00lrep1. This level of the puzzle will not ruin the puzzle. On this profile page you should be able to highlight the page and get a group of letters show up. And, again, the profile is tzerozerolrep1, t00lrep1. In this source view you can see what is suppose to be hidden on the profile page which is jsjmlnubkmfiamijhykchcgwnfoagjjye. WHEN I HIGHLIGHT THE PAGE IT DOES NOT SHOW UP, IT IS SUPPOSE TO. BBBBButt can be found in the source if you know what you are looking for. And YES, at different locations it does show up. I don't know why, again, the reason for my question. Now, as to it must be on my end, what end are you speaking of. I said I tested various computers, browsers and windows versions. Please, explain because this in all my years troubleshooting computer systems would be a first, hence my possible conclusion as a regional issue. I don't know, that's why I asked. All I can do now after reading some of these replies is simple. Go to user t00lrep1 profile page, highlight the page and see if you see those letters I mentioned above. Thank you
  6. I do not know of any type puzzle where you have to be near the cache to solve it except for field, chirp, Wherigo, adventure labs and ones that state that you need data from the site itself. These puzzles are broke. I have talked with the CO's and they agree that they are broke and they do not no why. I can tell you, since I spent many hours trying to solve them, it is a waste of my time and anyone else trying to solve something that can't be solved. That was not by design, something happened to them and I am trying to get a logical solution for a fix or better yet let geocaching.com that they are breaking an unknown amount of puzzles. These puzzles haven't been solved in years because they're broke. Another one in yet another state got achieved because this problem. Now the CO's realize they are broke. The next step would be archive or a fix. And as stated in my first post, another user sent me a copy of what I was suppose to see, this week, they had it, I didn't. Why? I don't know, hence the post to begin with. I also know of no-one using their own server to keep a cache up and running and would doubt a reviewer would agree to that, could be wrong, but I don't think so. Worse case there is that you wouldn't be able to reach the server if it had a problem and that would be very obvious. Security wise, dangerous. JMO on that one. Now, the way I found this problem was going step by step, with the CO, because they did not know why I couldn't solve it and I was telling them what I had done to try and solve them. Each time they let me know that I should have seen data to continue. Again, it was not there. Now they are aware and hopefully working on it. What caused it to begin with, I don't know. Why do I care, I don't mind helping puzzle makers with their problems, I really hate wasting my time on broken puzzles.
  7. AND a puzzle should be able to be solved from anywhere on earth, if not, what's the point?
  8. Yes, I did everything and more correct. I have contacted the CO's of these caches and one wasn't even aware this was happening. After hours trying to solve a puzzle, it's a little annoying that you can't due to some type of technical error. I'm involved because I solve puzzles all over the globe. It's not a good thing if I can't trust the data. And how would the CO know that an update messed up their puzzle? I'm working on another right now. If it works for some people and not others, that's a problem.
  9. On two puzzles from the NE area of the US the answer to finding the coords both were solved by finding a fake CO user name, going to their profile page, highlighting the page and the coords would appear. On both of these puzzles, I was unable to see the text or locate the coords in the source code. I verified this by exchanging my source code data with someone that could see this data. I then tried 4 different browsers and 3 different windows versions, 10, 11 and 7. Three different computers and my phone. So if it works somewhere up north, I'm in Florida, what could possibly be causing this. Do different regions of the country have different servers? One of the CO's stated that this may have happened after a geocaching software update. Any ideas?
  10. I know this CO and also believe he misunderstands the point of notes and DNFs. He takes them as an insult for some reason. I have personally tried to help this CO on several of his caches by recording my coords and trying to get him to update his coords. He states that he has updated the coords but every time I check they are not. I was told not to log a DNF and to update him on the coords on my found caches. I didn't realize that was my job, however I always try to help. It's difficult to find caches that are 90 feet off and then not be able to notify fellow cachers where they can find the cache. I just received a message to modify my find that was 90 ft. off. This may be a question on educating him of how to update his coords or something else, I don't know but it is odd and One other point, I do not search of private property without some indication on the cache page that there was permission given. Just my take.
  11. If you go to full screen view you can use your mouse normally again. Still an unwanted step. Leaflet maps seem unaffected.
  12. I have all four maps but no treasure chest souvenir. No email for that matter either. What could be the problem????
  13. Try deleting your cookies and then reload the page, maybe this will help. Yeah, did that no joy. Used my phone also and it did the same thing.
  14. Every time I try to use the geochecker it tells me that it has been used 20+ times in the last 10 mins. without using it at all. Just started today.
  15. Yup, add me to the message don't work right club. Same things happening to me.
  16. Good find, I submitted a problem report on this today. I agree, not a good change, I never close that sidebar. A heads up would have been nice. At least it's still there. Thanks
  17. My response to this is that you shouldn't even be considering replacing the cache just because you're there. If you aren't friends with the CO so you can't call him from GZ, and you didn't notice the problem and discuss it with the CO in advance, then just log your DNF or NM or NA and move on. I would claim the main point of the "not without contacting the CO" mantra is to discourage people from replacing caches on the spur of the moment. To emphasize this, I'll point out that if you replace the cache, then technically you didn't find it, so you shouldn't think that, whether you get permission or not, that you can log it found. (Of course, in reality you can log it found because everyone in that situation does log it found, but logically it doesn't actually make sense.) I claim that reviewers do sweeps only because the local cachers aren't being sufficiently vigilant, so the reviewers are forced to take such unilateral action. I never said I was considering replacing a cache anywhere in my statement, which I wouldn't even consider to begin with, maybe just a temporary log or stick a cracked container in a zip lock bag for protection. I was just asking advice not a rant, geez. I currently find a cache in disrepair, log it as found, enter a nm and attempt to contact the CO when I get home. If I took your reply incorrectly I apologize a head of time.
  18. I generally go home and send the CO email once I am no longer in the middle of nowhere. Or I go home and post a Needs Maintenance log once I am no longer in the middle of nowhere. Once, when the cache's camouflage came apart in my hands, I used my smartphone to post a Needs Maintenance log and to send private email to the CO. But that was the exception to the rule. For reference, see the Help Center article I Found a Geocache that Needs Maintenance. The short version is that geocachers post Needs Maintenance logs and Needs Archived logs. Needs Maintenance logs set the Needs Maintenance attribute on the cache, and when the CO posts an Owner Maintenance log, the attribute is cleared. Needs Archived logs alert the local volunteer reviewers that there may be a more significant issue, so they can take action if needed. Also, many reviewers will occasional "sweeps", checking for caches with NM logs or other potential problems (long string of DNFs for low difficulty, etc.) and, in many cases, disable them with a roughly 30 day countdown for the CO to address the problem. I just read up on the geocache reviewers in the help section. Your info addresses my question directly, thanks. I need to do more reading in that section.
  19. That's an interesting point. A couple weeks ago I found an undocumented cache in fair shape. I didn't know what to do with it so I emailed a CO that had a run of caches in that area with the coord's in the event he may have lost one or know what to do with it. I never heard back from the CO so the cache may still be out there. A little different than your scenario but I feel bad leaving that cache and it's many miles away from my location.

I'd rather ask then get it wrong. The reason I asked about getting hold of the CO was that prior posts stated not to do much of anything to the cache without the CO's permission. I didn't see how that was possible in the field and I wouldn't be going back to that cache after the fact. Oh, and I have a very limited data plan so email would be difficult and a lot of the time I rely only on my GPS. Thanks again. Note:Just got back from an outing and found another cache needing repair. I posted my found status, then a NM entry with an explanation and I was on my way. I love it when a plan comes together.
  21. Thank you, Yes, very clear. Time to get out there again.
  22. I am fairly new and I am curious. How is someone supposed to get in contact with a CO when you're in the middle of nowhere? Also, are caches monitored by the system somehow so if they are inactive or in disrepair for an extended amount of time it gets achieved automatically or is that the responsibility on the geocacher somehow? I've found some that haven't been found in well over a year in good condition and bad. If a CO does not respond to a MN, email or message, what then? Like I said, just curious.
  23. I upgraded from 7 to 10 and had quite and few problems including basecamp, express, office 2010 and a host of others. Found the problem to be that all of my permissions of my folders had changed so I couldn't install mostly anything, couldn't see a variety of icons in my start folder and just too much work to justify keeping 10. I went back to 7 for now and all is well again. By the way I had to restore my disk from a backup image I had made a week before since the restore 7 feature in 10 brought some problem with it to 7. Good luck By the way, I had Garmin techs on my system for hours and they gave up after escalating the problem to their software guru's. Seems they have not tested their SW with 10 yet either.

  25. I have been a beginner for about a month in which time I have completed multi caches as well as several difficult levels of cache finds. So I don't think this has to do with beginner caches. Just my thought. I have also submitted maintenance posts and such.
